    what’s funny about this is that in patch 2.1, which came out almost exactly a year ago, multiple weapons that used main power up in splatoon 2 had specific attributes buffed. dynamo’s damage, nautilus’ firing duration, aerospray’s painting, bamboozler’s ink efficiency, jet squelcher’s rng. nintendo stated the buffs were added to compensate specifically for the absence of mpu in splatoon 3. it seems they forgot to do the same to dualie squelchers.

      Same thing can be said with the Splattershot Pro. They could’ve buffed it by giving it a better falloff damage from the main power up effect just like how the L-3 and H-3 have gotten buffed in one of the patches but they straight up forgot to give it to the Splattershot Pro too which saddens me.

      @me_when8845 that isn’t enough to make it good, it needed better performance besides painting buff and point buff. Look at the squeezer and 96 as an example, both of them pretty much make the pro useless in every way and have better range while it has the same range as dual squelcher.

    As a dualie squelchers main, I understand the PTSD. I didn’t main them in splatoon 2, but I saw the competitive play. It was a nightmare. I definitely agreed that Nintendo needs to realize this is a whole new game and main power up does not exist, and does not have to hold back weapons that were overpowered in Splatoon two are now mid in Splatoon three (perfect example is splattershot pro) I understand your opinion you don’t have to main every dualie. Somethings don’t click. Video games are about having fun so pick what you like and go have fun 😃

      as someone who loves dualie squelchers i agree with you, but i do wish they'd revert the ink efficiency back to how it was in splatoon 2s start, i feel like even with ink saver main if I get into most fights and I dodge roll even once my ink tank evaporates and in a game with strong weapons and trizookas everywhere it would be nice to have more of an edge

      ​​​​@@NihonguyInk efficiency is the least of its problems imo. Needs more shot velocity and better RNG before ink efficiency. My guess is you are pushing after you use a Splat Bomb and that's why you run out of ink, common mistake with VDS. That's not something VDS can afford ever even on a lot of ISM. I myself don't even run ISM on it anymore. It really doesn't do much for the weapon, you just have to learn how to manage its ink correctly and once you do you really won't feel the need for ISM tbh.

      ​@RickyG93 yeah ink efficiency is the least of its issues but if the devs want this to be a support dualie with weak damage, it should have the ink efficiency to reflect that support role (like Nova for shooters). More ink would also allow for more "up time" during jump tech, which is the unique trait of this weapon and the only way it stays alive in most cases.

    For me it's the other way around, I love the dualie squelchers, but am not as fond of the other dualies. So I totally agree with the fact that they don't really feel like dualies. Also yes please nintendo give it some ink buffs it is painful especially when the bomb takes up so much ink and you have hardly any shots/rolls left. D:

    It just pisses me off how the devs do massive nerfs to a weapon, but without even understanding *what* makes said weapon good, and then that weapon carries those nerfs to the next game and falls off, but the devs forget about it
    DS was good because of an unhealthy ability that didn’t need to exist, but the devs decided to gut it because of it, and now that MPU doesn’t exist anymore, DS became even worse
    Same thing happened for Range when transitioning from S1 to S2

      The nerfs to Machine feel that way too, the size of the AOE was what made it a slightly unhealthy top tier, everything else that made it good can't be changed and wasn't unhealthy anyways (being one of the few weapons with kit synergy and countering Crab)
      When they inevitably give it the worst kits they can imagine in Splatoon 4 it's *really* gonna suffer

    As a glooga Dualie main, my main issue with Dualie Squelchers is it's low damage, fire rate and high ink consumption. i don't think any weapon in the game should have all three of these weaknesses. For how complex DS is, it should be more rewarding. I definitely understand. why you don't play it. I only play it sometimes because i do love its kits

    The dualie squelchers are my favorite in theory. I love how they combine into one gun because it makes me feel like my squid is all technical and cool. The splat dualies and dapple dualies just work so much better for me.

    It’s a really fun weapon once you start to learn it’s jump tech. But yeah… you have to learn how to use the weapon strengths to their maximum potential just to be as effective as other mid range weapons. Also, CDS 10 points for special nerf LMAO

    I loved this weapon when I just got into the game in 2018 and now it feels like its ink tank doesn’t exist. I have to use so much ink saver since it’s really hard to manage ink. I do like the new custom design though. Nicer than a sticker slapped on it.

    I love DS but I always felt Glooga felt like the same thing but easier because it kills more consistently. Also in this game Glooga has a special while both DS kits don't lol (more Wave Breaker buffs pls, the recent one needs more tracking duration and range).
    That said, DS is my favorite Dualie because of how satisfying it is to do well with. The DS jump tech is the coolest thing in the game to me honestly and it really helps mitigate the RNG issue. Also the mobility gives it a better matchup into many weapons that other Dualies tend to struggle with since it can constantly backpedal. The turret mode also does actually have occasional usefulness.
    It's a weapon that has a much higher learning curve and requires a pretty deep understanding to be effective with and that's why I love it. It's extremely dynamic and has lots of options all the time. I do agree it needs buffs but the main thing I think it needs moreso than even what you said is a shot velocity buff, then probably RNG. Ink efficiency I feel it can live without because the weapon genuinely wouldn't have a weakness if they buffed that too lol. It's also kinda whatever because you can just run LDE or ISM and the problem is solved.

    Dualies were the first weapon class I felt attached to in S3's testfire, both because of their newbie-friendly qualities like easy mobility and high fire spread, but also because of their dodgerolls, and when I learned about a dualie that had a unique dodge roll that let it be even more mobile than even the tetras and Vdualies, and it was super long range, I had to try it out. I instantly fell in love with the Dualie Squelchers, and while I don't play them much anymore, they still sit as my second most played weapon, just behind Stamper.
    I definitely think they need some tweaks to be a bit more easy to use, as they're very difficult and I basically just abused their range in early ranks to get by until I actually learned them, but I still think DS is a very unique weapon that isn't anywhere near as bad as people might say, my biggest complaint just being that its too slow to kill compared to some other weapons of a similar range.

    The only technical buff it received in Splatoon 3 was the recent buff ro the Wavebreaker. It's not much, but it's something.

    As a former dual squelcher main, I want to like this weapon so bad. It's not just the RNG that makes it not feel so good, it's the combination of that, its low time to kill (mediocre fire rate + 4 shots to kill, which alone I'd be fine with), and having to either deal with the double reticle and alternating shots in spread mode (I've lost count of the times I had narrowly missed a shot because it was the wrong side's turn to shoot) or to spend a considerable amount of precious ink to dodge roll and stand still for a sec to shoot accurately.
    It's been more than a year since the game's release and it is still untouched by patches. I'd take any buff to this weapon, be it improved ink efficiency, less RNG, better fall-off damage or improved fire rate (even if by a singular frame). I'm desperate, I don't know how much longer I can bear to see some random high tier shooters get stray buffs.
    edit: also forgot to mention the netcode just not helping sometimes and counting opponents' shots that landed on my previous location before dodge rolling as hits, even when my character is no longer there.

    I loved the dualie squelchers in 2 and played them all the way up until they got nerfed without main power up because I would always prefer other abilities over MPU for them, preferred to play pro with MPU. Going into three I tried so hard to make them work to the point where I almost got the weapon to 5 stars but it just felt so bad to consistently be inconsistent. "I don't think that the RNG nerf is that bad" is what I would say if they didn't also nerf the bullet size from 2.5 units to 2. The combo of those two kinda ruined the feel of the weapon for me since I can at least compensate for the lack of ink efficiency with gear. if they get buffed I will be super happy but I don't really think they will.

    I have been using this for a very long time for just that reason - they're a shooter with a dodge roll. Plus splat bomb is awesome. But after a while I got used to other dualies that have decent range and I feel like ttk is so much better with the other dualies I prefer them more now and rarely play ds anymore :(

    Now, after hearing this, the first thought was, the dualie squelchers are “ never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you” as the weapon is essentially going to be Rick rolling its user and the devs arnt going to desert the nerfs they made

      Splattershot Nova is Dual Squelcher just with Aerospray damage and better strafe speed
      If they buff its damage then that's Dual Squelcher

    I'm an Ex-VDS & rare CDS main and this video perfectly sums up how it felt in S2 to S3. It was already pretty annoying that I had to dedicate a considerable portion of my gear to MPU then they just went over board with the nerfs and made it even more MPU reliant to the point where I decided to just drop them when the patch came out and moved on to Klooga and GNautlis and hoped if we got a S3 it would get better and it kinda of did since it's not MPU reliant anymore but now it's somehow even more insufferable to use since it doesn't have MPU as a crutch and it's over nerfs from S2 weren't even reverted or at least alleviated. Same thing with me and Splat and Dynamo Roller from S1 to S2

    This is something that you can feel when playing dualie squelshers and changing to another dualie, i used to play these dualies and then one day changed to splat dualies and tetra dualies, i felt weird playing these dualies at first because they feel different to the dualies squelshers

    Now that you've compared it, .96 Gal really does feel like combining Dualie Squelchers and Glooga Dualies:
    It has the 2-shot and slow firerate of the Gloogas, while having the spread and range of the Dualie Squelchers, just that it cannot dodge roll.

    Ngl, I feel like Nautilus is starting to become the “Shooter version of a Splatling” because you could just partially charge its shots to still get a lot of value out from the weapon, almost like you could shoot and swim with the weapon like a normal shooter would do.

      You could make that argument yes, but the point I was trying to make is that Dualie Squelchers tend to behave more like a shooter than others (as in, they often dont utilize their turret mode and focus on mobility instead, and also arent locked in place after a roll)

    I tried to use Dualie Squelchers and it was tricky adjusting to using a longer range, and I used Tetras. I think I had better chances with Jet than Dualie Squelcher. I think I’m more used to moving around and quick rolls than sliding. My hits landed terribly, but I feel it’s the range difference that happened for me. Then again I think I did ok with Jet, so I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the accuracy?

    As a DS main since the beginning, while I agree the weapon still has a lot of flaws carried over from Splatoon 2, I don't necessarily agree that the weapon NEEDS a buff. Honestly the weapon absolutely relies on the gear abilities (mainly MPU), but it also feels really good. To adjust to the RNG you definitely have to change your reticle aim and shoot further ahead of where the enemy is going. The variety of movement options is seriously a godsend and for me is the reason why I love this weapon so much. Imo some of the other dualies need buffs way more than DS. The dapples I can't say too much since I don't play that very much. But the gloogas... that weapon can get the best sub/special, but the weapon will still feel clunky and can be average at best...
    Also, the vanilla DS kit IS the dream kit. Design-wise 10/10. Wave breaker being a bit weak atm is the only thing holding it back.

    Disclaimer, I have NOT watched the video yet and I just wanted to say I hate playing a dualie that isn't very frontline and the weapon is so ink hungry I end up never using splat bomb and of COURSE it has wave breaker. Respects if you play this weapon though, the playstyle is much different.

    I love the mobility that dualies have but I don't like being aggressively in-your-face with them, so I just use them to paint the map and do cool jump-tech stuff :)

      Due to its fire rate not increasing, it's often better to try and stay mobile and jump tech or jump normally rather than locking yourself in place. It's low DPS along with its small bullet size often results in enemies killing you before you can kill them while in turret mode, although it does still have some uses.

    nintendo are so annoying with undoing nerfs to weapons that suffered in splatoon 2, i know they've reverted some already but it's such in a snail's pace. they need to remember faster that splatoon 2 and 3 are completely different games with different meta environments, so many underrated weapons deserve a spotlight if they just buffed them responsibly instead of miniscule buffs that do nothing. :/

    i feel like a lot of it has to do with the fact that it was originally a shooter and was transformed into a "dualie" in splatoon 2. thats probably why it feels more like a shooter.

    I think the reason I don't like the Dualie Squelchers as much as the others isn't because of them being a bad weapon. I honestly never noticed them being significantly worse.
    It's just that all of the other dualies have something special that real changes the gameplay, like the Dapples having less range but crazy fire rate, or Tetras having four rolls, or Gloogas having crazy damage but being slower. The main thing that's special about the Squelchers is that they have no end lag, but during the time I three stared them, the only time I put that to use was getting ahead slightly faster after respawning. Of course, I didn't know about the jump tech back then, so maybe I'll try the Squelchers again. They'll never be everyone's favorite, but they also don't get the love they deserve.

      imo, the jump tech is what gives this weapon its identity. You can certainly play it without using or mastering jump tech but you'll never get a idea for how unique this weapon is without it. Otherwise, it's just an underpowered Nova that can dodge roll.

    Dualie squelchers use to be the only dualies I liked back in splat2 but then like said in the video main power became a thing and they decided that damage up was a good effect to give stuff. Honestly don't get why they had to gut the weapon instead of just changing the main power effect it received. These days tetras are my dualie of choice but if they ever undid the nurfs they gave squelchers for the sake of giving them damage up gear in the previous game I'd happily pick them up again.

    i used to main dualie squelchers, along with gloogas, way back in the day (and by that i mean fresh season 2023, back when i was still a stick controls main. by the time cds was released i got bored of the weapon), i might go back to them one day, to see how they feel now lol

    I am still confused: wouldn't having these dualies as top teirs be good for the game? Yes, the weapon was everywhere, but at the same time, that was when the game was most balanced since it had a rock-paper-scissors balance between blasters and umbrellas.

      No, the era of main power dualie squelchers was towards the end of Splatoon 2's life, long after that rock paper scissors era you're referring to.

      It just lets you earn extra chunks on the piece of gear at a faster rate, that's all.

    Chase. You took the words right out my mouth. Pretty much everything you said is exactly how i felt about the Dualie Squelchers. Even with how dirty they did the weapon I'm still very very passionate about it to this day. I've been using them since splatoon 2 and It really sucks at how terrible they feel. I really really hope Squid Research buff it. I've been saying for years I would be fine with either giving them a faster fire rate and make it a five shot kill or make it more accurate. I don't know if you would agree with these changes but I honestly think either one is ok. Thank you for making this video
