- 3 years after I finished my thesis film I'm finally uploading it.
I was too embarrassed after I graduated to upload it anywhere. I felt I hadn't tried hard enough. But now that it's been a moment, I feel that it's a bit of a shame to not share something I worked so long and spent so many hours on.
With the support of so many assistants, kickstarter backers, sound artists, voice actors and friends, it's only fair this get's to see the light of day.
thanks for all your support.

Stop you can’t just do like that with that ending😭 but also this was incredible, congrats on being able to finish this project after 3 years!
we love a good ambiguous ending in this household 😤
@@akiocha ANYTHING BUT THAT 😭
@@akiochaYou gotta agree the biggest difficulty is voicing especially when u dob wan your viuce
Could've been worse she should be quite hungry😏
This is pretty cool! I think this was about carrying the baggage of life, the difficult things that you just deal with. So I think the big creature died that is why she is carrying him. He is now a big memory of hers, part of her baggage.
this is an awesome story, with even better art and animation.
thank you so much!
This is AMAZING... i cant understand being embarrassed about such an amazing art and story .. keep going your awesome
thank you!! inner critique can get unreasonable sometimes, I'm glad people are enjoying it!
I'm glad that i'm here before it gets viral
the art, character , story , build up , everything about this is on the spot. Truly a work of passion
The ending left me with a lot of questions!
It's pretty straightforward tho..?
@@mkzhero but for real how is she lifting the beast!
@@veilnebula2411 because it's all visualized metaphors.
What I don't understand is why she is becoming a demon
@@whitelight2195 it's a metaphor for burdens and trauma (henche 'baggage') changing people
This film tells a deeply emotional story about companionship, resilience, and the burdens we carry. Artemis, full of optimism and determination, is a powerful character who keeps moving forward despite the visible exhaustion of her companion. She offers encouragement, believing they can make it to a place where they'll no longer have to carry their weight alone.
The tone shifts towards the end, revealing Artemis’ desperation as her companion collapses. Her repeated pleas for them to get up are heartbreaking, showcasing a powerful moment of vulnerability. It's as though the companion represents emotional or physical baggage that can no longer be carried, and Artemis’ fear of being left alone is palpable. The final moments of the film convey a sense of isolation and the crushing weight of trying to shoulder everything alone, which hits hard emotionally.
Animator made us care about these two characters to only stomp down on our hearts!! :D Love the animation, great work there
Wow
That is some colossal world building and emotion for a 5 min animation.
Stellar work!
This storytelling puts big studios to shame!
THIS IS SO CUTE??? BIG GUT AND LITTLE GUY!!!! AND WHY DOES IT HAVE TO GET SAD HDJANEKDJHSVHFS
I love emotional torment 😈
Somebody needs to make a tv tropes page for this. It deserves a million views
Man this is really good, this type of quality is like videos up to 200k views, keep going this is fantastic.
WHY HE HAVE A SO TINNY FACEEE????? IT'S SO CUUUUUTE
Dude I cannot comprehend why you only achive about 400 views in this video, I expected like 200k or something, this is actually really impressive, keep going man this is fantastic.
🥺❤ thank you so much!! TH-cam algorithm does its own thing and can't be controlled unfortunately....
It’s at 2.3K views when your comment is 18 hours old. So it’s growing

Oh wow, this animation is incredible! So glad you finally decided to share it with us😊
I really want this to become a full show😊❤
you managed to achieve in 5 minutes what many television shows aren't able to achieve in hundreds of hours.
what, exactly?
@@Merlok_3_0 a cinematic effect nicknamed D
@@sawmesalami are you referring to depth? because some media(not just TV shows) can achieve that in 30 seconds. Also, where did you see the depth in here?
@@Merlok_3_0 No, D, Deez nuts.
Could someone explain to me, on what just happen? epically with the girl [named Artemis] had her feet turning into mouse hooves, at the end of the video.
This is just a guess, but I think it might be implying that’s how the creatures are made? Like the big guy used to be a person? Considering all the different creatures you see at the start
From my perspective, the short is about carrying baggage, metaphorically emotional. Everyone is shown carrying baggage.
Maybe it's that the older you get, the more baggage you have to carry, you change over time because of it. All the emotional scarring turns you from a young innocent kid into a big scary calloused monster.
Artemis already has a ton of baggage in the start, so we know she's had a rough life, despite still being very young and not monster like. She makes friends with the big one, an older soul that's succumbed to the baggage and turned monstrous.
That's my take on it anyway. ; - ;
@@Achedb0b1 this, basically, but there's other aspects to it too. The people who have a home have the least baggage, BUT, they live in a home which is in a city that's the skeletal remains of a GIANT 'momster'... Meanwhile the other travelers that are monsters, and the protagonist are searching for a home... Aka, this is also speaking about carrying other people's weight and paving the way for the next generations despite hardships. So this isn't as much about emotional baggage, as it is about carrying on to reach a goal, make something of value, and carry over the dreams of fallen friends dreams too, all for a home and a better future, if not for yourself, then for the next generations.
@@mkzhero Nice input. I had actually forgotten about the baggage town at the very beginning. That observation adds a lot of context to the symbolism.
Yeah, you nailed it. Amazing work
This is adorable! The ending really caught me off guard even though it was foreshadowed during the campfire scene. I really love this shortfilm!
Holy hell, this looks absolutely amazing. I myself have started doing more art stuff, and I hope I can reach this level of talent. Don't be embarrassed about it, you worked really hard and were all so so proud of you! I hope the algorithm shows this to a lot more people like it did for me.
Good work, and keep on cookin.
That's awesome to hear! More art in the world is always better.
And thank you so much for your kind words!
I can associate this with people and their emotional "baggage" 😉
Some carry so little, and others can carry a lot. At the end of the day, we all have our own burdens... it's just not all of us can keep going til the end.
The color palette is so pretty ❤ congrats on finishing after 3 years! a lot of hard work :D
First off animation is incredible!! Second off, the whole visual concept of carrying baggage goes deep
I love everything about this! Especially the backgrounds, the visuals, the colors and the overall style all look so pretty!! I know how much effort and time it takes to produce stuff like this, and in such great quality too. I DEMAND THE ALGORITHM BOOST THIS BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART!
Now this right here, is art. In its purest form. Every detail that was fussed over, every inspiration embarked upon, every questionable choice that went into it's making, all combined into a single masterpiece. I love it. I _dream_ about making things like this. Well done!
People becoming monsters to help others? Is that the meaning of this.
Think there's a lot of potential interpretations to it as art often does.
How I would look it, there was already meaning in the baggage they were carrying around and it seemingly having scaled to the amount of the scars the bearer had. The more scarred the more baggage.
And then adding it that carrying a load changes you. As you gain more and more over the course of your life you'll turn into something that the young you would no longer be able to recognize.
But hey, that's just how I perceived it. And what do I know I'm not the artist
Such a beautiful piece of artwork !
This is so beautiful 👍
How have you only gotten 600 views?! The palette is so aesthetic and this whole video is just perfect!!

WHY IS THIS SO UNDERRATED HELLO
The ambiguous ending too 😭😭amazing work
Not ambiguous at all.
Wait so....those big creatures are an amalgamation of people carrying eachothers weight? I am so confused but so intrigued
Just noticed more foreshadowing and worldbuilding in this part. I guess I wasn’t watching very close the first time. I like the story, especially the art. It’s very pretty. I would really like to explore the world more, please :)

Some Genshin Impact ash story visuals
being compared to Genshin anim is top tier compliment 😩
Wow 😳
Algorithmic Punch!
beautiful
Sooo when's part 2?
Beautifully made~ the music really meshed up on the start! Though could ask what of resources did you use in making it?
TVpaint to animate, After Effects to composite and I had a sound designer and composer to do the audio.
This is amazing, really great job
thank you!
WHAT THIS IS SO AWSOME BEST I LOVE THIS ! BUT SUCH A SAD ENDING ;_;
i see you fellow planes walker
I love the vid and animation overall, but whats up with them bags tho?🤔
Great animation
😭😭 que sad
How much feet anatomy studies did you have to do for this 😅
well done
U gotta carry that weight.
it is good
The art style is great until it pans up to the 10th grader's attempt at a face...
the name sumpter seems like you misspelled summer
cool video
Sumpter is a real word. It means pack animal. An animal that carries supplies and luggage is a sumpter.

what program did you use?
TVpaint to animate and adobe After Effects to composite
Did Quentin Tarantino have a hand in this (or should I say foot) animation😉🤣I'm noticing a lot of close-up shots of feet. Joke aside, I love the fluid animation and beautiful colors.
This is amazing! God bless ya and Jesus loves ya :)
I feel like this is about depression.
Not really..? More like burdens, the home aspect, inheriting, paving the way, and a bunch more things
SOO MANY FEET 🤤🤤🤤
😂
Ноги заебись
This doesn't add up properly, since she is a bit too beat up and has way too much baggage at the beginning, should either have less baggage in the start, or react less strongly in the end.. Interesting if simple metaphor work though, good animation too! Also nice little detail in what the city is, what the travelers are, takes a second watch to get its not just some random fantasy object and characters
Someone needs to work on their critical thinking skills
@@clawcaps3224 Someone talks pretty loud, which immediately tells me you probably didn't even get what you're looking at.
personally, the point is that she's been alone and traveling for a very long time. so she's already beat up. but the beast gives her hope, only to be alone once more at the end. that's the story I'm trying to tell.
@@akiocha well i got that much, but over what? If the theme is burdens..
@@mkzhero over having her be a perfectly fine/well adjusted character at the beginning who becomes beat up. I think the story of a naive innocent person becoming beat up on a journey is pretty standard, I like that she's already beat up at the beginning and it only get's worse. It's ok if you don't like that story though! I just thought I'd answer your question, in case you were genuinely curious.
why didn't she just give him food? How could they get into an adventure without the first aid kit? Why did he go with her if these kind of adventures are that risky?
Am I the only one who understands these basic flaws? Did you review your script? Do you show storyboards to your focus group?
The animation is the second thing to look at, don't worry.
The scale is inconsistent and sometimes doesn't look believable, for example I could never believe that that girl could lift that big of a bag. The only animations used are:
1. walk cycles
2. interpolations from A to B(blinking, water drops, waves, that girl turning, that head lifting, that hand rotating)
3. shaking (leg under pressure, rope under pressure, some faces)
4. others that are usually more advanced than walk cycles
and some animations are looking... strange:
1. mother stopping her child by the backpack looks too floaty and smoothly, while it should be smooth motion->rough stop
2. when we can't see their legs they move left to right while moving forwards, but when we DO see their legs, their walk cycles don't have any of that.
3. The water drops from her face, but you never see the water falling onto her.
4. feet don't have fingers, somehow.
1:41 animation style on her head looks slightly different here, maybe rotoscoping?
Sound design is good, but, sounds exist only on the things that the attention is drawn to and sometimes on the things that are visible. So sometimes it sounds like things don't make sounds.
Yeah, you should be "too embarrassed after you graduated to upload it anywhere", because it has basic flaws.
@@Merlok_3_0 “I could never believe that that girl could lift that big of a bag” 😂😂😂 do you also think giant cat monsters exist?
I’ve never gotten a troll comment on TH-cam before! Momentous day!
@@akiocha excuse me? how can existence of giant cat monsters explain girls carrying big bags?
If your logic here is that "it's a fantasy, don't care about it", then you're even worse at writing than I thought.
so, IF giant cat monsters exist, this doesn't prove that girls can lift big bags, because then she would be able to help that cat stand up in the end scene.
@@Merlok_3_0 ..... she is literally carrying him in the end scene??? also you're excused! thanks for being polite :)
@@akiocha does she? she's just kicking that cat and asking him to get up.
Ah, okay, I see what you're talking about. Okay then, let's break that scene down.
1. She would have just pierced through him: the surface area of hers isn't big enough to create a stable platform(the pressure is too much)
2. She can't lift something that heavy: she doesn't have the muscle power. You could say that "no, she has", but muscles don't work that way: to lift things that heavy, they have to increase in surface area, which is impossible in human bodies without the increase in size. Okay, maybe she's not human, then she would have to look different, because the only increase in surface area of the muscle that I can come up with requires kind-of fractal structure(yeah. our built-in muscles are that good)
3. Why didn't she act accordingly before? I mean, if she has this much power, then she could help that cat, because it seems as if he is the only one who's struggling with his weight. I thought that this is because she can't lift such heavy things, but turns out that she can, so what's her problem?
Also, you didn't say anything about my other claims, so you're okay with them?
@@Merlok_3_0 😂😂😂
