This band is like a group 90's, Northeast jam band all stars. Groovechild, Percy Hill, Strange folk, Harpoon, Moon Boot Lover etc.. One of the great relatively unknown collection of bands of all time!
This was a great video for so many reasons. But I can say I think I finally “get” what you’ve been saying... can’t do it, but I am getting the correlation between what you are saying and what I am hearing in your playing and the music (and what I see your fingers doing). THANK YOU. I’ll prob loose the plot tomorrow, but right now I feel like a small match light just sparked. I think you stacked a win on my side today - cheers for that!
Didn't know this band! After seing your reaction I've been listening to their songs on TH-cam for hours! What an amazing band! It was a great analysis of the solo. I'm an (amateur) piano player and from now on I will pay closer attention to the chords progressions when I improvise with my right hand, instead of just following the key or scale. I learn so much about music by listening to your reactions, even though I play mostly piano.
I'm glad you brought AOD to the mix. I've been digging them since I found their live album The Honest Hour back in like 2008 or something. The Speculator track from that album is amazing as well.
Awesome, Michael! Thanks a ton! AOD rocks!!! Adam Terrell is the guitarist. Can't help but stank face it during that keys solo! Woot! Reid Gennauer lead vocals and guitar, Nate Wilson on keys, John Lecesse on bass, Andy Herrick on drums.
Woah, the previous lead singer's band Strangefolk was an almost-famous band that I grew up with. Great group. Check out their songs Westerly and Valhalla!
I’m psyched someone requested AOD. I saw them dozens of times in NYC between 2002 and 2011. Adam Terrell is the guitarist. I believe he’s a professional guitar teacher and session guy.
"I'm tellin ya...I'm TELLIN ya..." I have no idea about guitar but I just love the bejeesus out of this channel, the passion, the breakdowns; it's just awesome to have Mr. Palmisano on in the background, a friendly unobtrusive voice but I always end up getting totally absorbed. Also totally agree with this channel leading to discovering some killer bands. You are a BEAST!
Hot Dayum I am super glad I found this channel! I am just enjoying the hell out of the music, the personalities on the live feed, and I am picking up a lot. Thank you for this
Reid (the singer) is yet another great player/songwriter out of VT! I used to see his old band Strangefolk in Burlington back in the '90s. I think I still have their album Lore on a cassette tape somwehere...
@@jefflovell7193 oh wow that one always enhanced a set. I saw them during the height of the wetlands days in NY. Saw new years 97. It went all night . They served breakfast and we went out into the morning sunshine. Oh the memories.
This song brought me to your channel, got into AOD when they released the honest hour. This song really cooks, and watching you break it down has been a joy. Subscribed!
Michael, I literally cannot understand 95% of your analysis. But I have so much fun watching you so authoritatively walk through the theory on so many tear-downs that I've set a goal for myself to understand it in about a year's time (and am studying accordingly). Thank you for inspiring me to stop hacking and to finally knuckle under and learn the theory. Would appreciate any pointers to the best step by steps on theory as applied to guitar.
I have been listening to your videos while working the last couple days and I love your energy and excitement when you hear new music. I feel like you may enjoy Lukas Nelson, he is a good guitar player with some well written lyrics (he is Willie Nelson's son). I particularly like "Forget About Georgia" about him playing "Georgia on My Mind" every night with his father after he broke up with his girlfriend who was named Georgia. He has songs with better guitar licks and others with good lyrics as well. Thanks for the entertainment!
I would love to see you react to Tyler Bryant! One of the greatest blues guitarists in the current blues scene. I haven't seen anyone play the slide in the way he does. Have a great day. 😄
My favorite type of video! Great band! Jam bands brought me to your channel and ultimately your website. Just wondering if you could use your PRS connection to get an interview or live stream with Jimmy Herring. That would be epic.
Hi Michael, new subscriber here. I think you’re doing a amazing work. I Came across one of your videos with The greatest band in the world, the Grateful Dead . And I’ve been watching your other videos from you. Have you ever done Terrapin station? That is an out right symphony of a Magical story of Music and lyrics. Keep on Keeping on brother
I know you do a lot of Country, folk, bluegrass stuff. I love all of that and really have been enjoying the content! I really want to see you react and break down a rap song called I’m Sorry by Joyner Lucas. If possible, could you please do a video on this? It’s a very strong song with an amazing music video and a very deep meaning. It will be like no other song you have heard before. I am more of a folk and country guy but this song speaks. Keep up the Awesome content man, Loving all of it!
@MichaelPalmisano Check out Percy Hill too. The bass player in this video, John is in that band too. One of the best bands from New England in the 90's.
Nice. Now check out Jon and Nate’s previous band Percy Hill. You don’t even have to react to it, just listen to the Color In Bloom album and feel the awe that those guys didn’t become massive.
Come on Michael...you've done Chris Broussard who co-writee 'Lonely Night' w/ Martin and now you're doing AOD, who used to back+up Martin occasionally. So it's high time to do an instruction on Martin. He's definitely a unique player, for sure. The most dynamic guitar player ever, imo. th-cam.com/video/xFQe_RlLgTY/w-d-xo.html

I swear that this series has given me a dozen of new artists to listen to. Awesome stuff!
Unexpected surprise. AOD and the prior band, Strange folk, have been enjoyed for many moons.
FORGOT TO MENTION THE VENERABLE US ELITE SKI! Please forgive me brother :)
Keyboard player is Nate Wilson. Check out his stuff with Nate Wilson Group and Ghosts Of Jupiter. Adam Terrell also plays guitar in those projects.

My husband once got Adam Terrell a battery from the sound guy during a show in Denver!
Adam is the man. I get lessons from him. If anyone is interested in lessons from him, please let me know.

Excellent. The break down and explanation, simply, to highlight the foundation of the flow. Learned a good deal, and enjoyed. Thank you.

Haha it’s like “Forget You” by Cee lo green! Michael your lessons have helped me realize when songs use similar changes, so cool
Thanks for all the inspiration you've provided to the world Michael!! Much appreciated

Love love love this band. Thank you for reviewing this song.
My man Michael, that was another 🔥video. That was rocking, the energy was killer. Your awesome man, thanks again.
Damn, as soon as he played at the 28 second marker, my feet were bopping! Awesome band and vid!
Awesome!
Love the super long theory analysis!
Thanks, B Wear!
My pleasure...such a great band.
Seen Reid's projects 24 times since 2005 (AOD, SFolk, Solo) So glad to see this.

Just out here looking to be a dude who knows what time it is.
Cool, another great band to follow.
The family tree of this band is chock full of bands to check out.
Been listening to Reid since the 90s. Genauer and trafton took strangefolk jams way out to space. Reid solo acoustic always a treat.
Fascinating! Wishing I could do it!
Great song...!!
Best AOD line up, they were on fire back then.

Love this song and your video, Strangefolk are worth checking out too if you like this as there's a lot of the same members.
I’ll just leave this little bonus AOD vid here. This is a personal favorite. Solo begins at 4:05. Enjoy!
