  • You join top all-round angler James Denison in search of chub on a small Thames tributary. The day was spent wading around looking for a few deeper sections of river, running a float through these swims where James suspected the fish would be hiding in these cold conditions.

    Lovely film, James.

I guess the difficult access protects the fishing and allows for prime wilder conditions. Cracking video really enjoyed it

Nice video enjoyed that, we need to see more of James, one of the best anglers in the country who goes the extra mile to land some cracking fish.

But wouldn't it be easier to fish with a 5/6m Bolognese rod (bolo). and a traditional reel?

@@ArmchairOps No, just personal preferences. With the Bolognese you can fish in any condition, both in terms of water speed, depth and casting distance. It is still little known in your country.

You don't need a bolo rod on our rivers that's why! On a wide deep continental river yes. I find my 13/15ft is enough for the stick float off the rod tip, casting beyond that I use a waggler.

@@richardburns5925 It's as I imagined, you don't know the true use of the Bolognese. Sooner or later you will learn, lol

@@rbtbgn I've only been fishing 35 years and mostly on rivers either with waggler or stick float. Again, my 13/15ft match rod caters for most situations, I'm usually hampered by over hanging trees for anything longer.

@@richardburns5925 I am 65 years old and have been fishing since I was a child, even at a competitive level. If you are comfortable with that type of joint, go ahead, but I would like you to try the Bolognese too. Surprises always exist. Greetings
