AT TIMES IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO HEAR WHAT YOU ARE SAYING..... SO MAYBE YOU SHOULD SPEAK A LITTLE LOUDER OR I DON'T KNOW IT'S JUST HARD FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING

Opened mine...not easy. Exactly the same burnt component. There is a a vent for moisture and it appears moisture comes in the vent (you can see the stains inside the cover. The moisture that comes in goes to the low corner. The gel is more watery there and easier to get out...and this is where the burnt component resides. Bad design.
The cover will not come off without breaking it. A source for the broken component is unknown. This is not a viable DIY repair at this time.
If planning to cut the wires and reuse the fan motor, note that 1 of the 4 wires has 5-6 wires inside it.

How you open the metal box containing the circuit board? Need brutle force? I can't find any screw but just 4 little plastic clip and the white sealant along the side. Hope you can share some hints. Thanks.

Ok, I stand corrected...I got mine fixed. It is much more difficult to get the circuit board out than shown in this video (for me anyway).
The transistor is available here in Canada from Digikey (about $6 each plus shipping). Part # is 497-12540-5-ND. Even with the correct parts it is a very difficult repair. I will post a video of how to do it.

@@fatihemre5019 My repair worked but failed again fairly quickly. There is a slightly smaller (600W?) version in many other Mercedes. Lots of them at the wrecker for $50 or less. Direct replacement. Plugs in and fits. Works fine and can be replaced in less than an hour. The only mod required is it isn't quite as deep as the 800W so you need some washers to prevent the fan from hitting the shroud.

@@IamMalibuBoy My PWM control module is Temic ECL 600W (A203 500 0293) Here old fans are also expensive at the wrecker. I need to repair my module. I will be happy if you tell or show me your repair work. my email: bfleo@yahoo.com

@@ayselemre8296 It is not worth the trouble to fix it. This guys repair didn't work and mine didn't either. The module is sealed so needs to be cut open along the seam with a dremmel tool, then there are 6 mosfets inside and it is usually the one on the far left that fails (the same one that failed in this video). But, they are potted is a jello textured plastic for further weather protection and there is a heat sink on the back which needs to come off to solder the new one back in. After I did all that, put it all back together, used JB Weld to recreate the weather seal, it failed again fairly quickly. The large motor cars (V8 and V12) came with the Temic 850's in 02-05 but seems it was Mercedes being extra cautious as the 600W works fine in my SL 55 even on 100 degree days. 02-05 6 cylinder Mercedes with the Temic 600W are a dime a dozen at the wreckers. Here we have "Pick your own parts" type of wreckers where you bring your tools and extract the part yourself. Don't remember how much I paid but I think about $20.

Would it be safe to install a 600w fan in my 03 s55 amg which OEM that I just removed shows to be an 850w? Found some 600w for about 300.00 and not hoping to spend double that for an 850w fan. Thanks

Can you tell me how to test a fan for a w209 or clk350 I don't see a resistor,,,
My fan never comes on and I have no A/C and I was told that you wont have a/c if your fan does not work. Also when I Idle the car for 45 min the temp get to 115 Celsius So I need to know how to test it before I waste money buying a fan. Also I notice the Coolant visit workshop error does not come on my dash until the car reaches 80 Celsius .... What do I do ?

Great video David. Where can I purchase the fan controller you show on the video? I see nothing wrong with mine internally but it does not work. It gets 12.5 volts from the SAM module and the same to the control wires prior to start up for 20 seconds then goes off and then goes to 8 to 9 volts when warmed up. So I will start with the controller.

I really love your videos. I followed your S600 when you were doing the oil cooler. I have 2001 S600 it’s been overheating where the upper hose come rear rock and the fan goes one speed goes to high for second the back to slow speed. I have changed the thermostat but the car still overheating. When I put the heater the temperature goes really down fast. Please help how the fan should run
