I feel that way too at times, then I remember that anniversary tour they did a few yrs ago. They "over sold" tickets & the place was PACKED with people surrounding the venue outside. It was INSANE. I mean slightly unsafe but my god the love us fans have for them is never ending

For everyone saying you don't like this song because it sounds different from their old stuff, then you aren't really a fan of the used. It's okay to say that you don't like it because you can't relate, or the hook doesn't grab you. But to expect a band to continuously make the same kind of music and never evolve as musicians is dumb. Artists are going to experiment and it's not always going to be perfect. IMO, this song is great. It doesn't have the feel of the older albums, they've added tons of elements from other genres. It sounds more upbeat and I enjoy the melody and runs. Does it give me that nostalgic feeling? No of course not. But it is refreshing. Also, I've seen a few other people say it, but I'm going to reiterate that the used is better live than on their albums. I can't explain it. The raw energy Bert has.. and to the people who said the used hasn't been good since before lies for the liars, I highly recommend listening to vulnerable. It took me a while to get used to it but now it's one of my favorites.
Totally agree. The Used has got me through so much. (Which I always felt that to be odd seeing I've never actually met them.) Seeing them live is amazing, you can feel the emotion in the lyrics so much clearer. It gets me pretty rattled when people complain about artists mixing thing up. I mean, people change in general, I know I was a completely different person in 2007 (the year lies for the liars was released) to where I am now. I don't know if the way I explained that would make as much sense to someone else as it does when I think about it... But the point is, I understand where you're coming from dude :) have a good one

Not everyone knows how much music changes over time, I remember when Linkin Park's 100 Suns came out and I loved it but I found not many other people did because it was different. I quite like the new music The Used have made but I must admit, I miss Bert's mop of hair haha
There is not a single song by the used that I don't absolutely love. I've been a fan since their debut album and can't wait for new stuff by them.

carlyplowman they still have it! its still the Bert from before if you pay close attention to the music and bert himself and those old albums till now. its just there is this trend, an idea from the past which is the post-apocalyptic theme which is coming back again and becoming a trend again. deserts,salvage bass guitars from the nukes, worn out clothes plus the undercuts, those are just shadows of the music video. cool changes and evolution that you cant really stop but rather go with it. love this music video and the tune impales me!

But the two newest are also really good. Lies for the Liars is the only one I don't like. Very uninspired album.

I have listened to the used since the beginning, and it does sound mature as far as the sound and songwriting. If you don't think this is more mature sounding than lies for the liars or vulnerable, I don't know what to tell you. In the past, John Feldmann has made them sound too poppy and pansyish, but this actually sounds like raw rock...more mature sounding. Take it or leave it.

This album is definitely more socially conscious than anything they've put out before, which speaks to how much they've matured and grown as a band. I honestly really love this album.

Admittedly I haven't been a huge fan of the Used since probably when they released Lies for the Liars. But if this is the kind of music they're coming out with now, I might have to get back into listening to them.
