Agreed, absolute favourite character in the books. But in the tv series he’s equal favourite with Uhtred as Uhtred’s character is written slightly differently to the books.

Uthred may be the main character but Uthred is nothing without Finan. I have read the entire series and I hope the show does Finan the justice he deserves.

meh not really Uhtred was already a tested and proven warrior and battlefield genius long before finan but yes i do agree that Uhtred would have had a way WAAAAAAAAAY Harder time witheverything that followed the events of season 1 had Finan not been on that slave ship Finan is the brother that always stood by Uhtred's side and was always his TRUE Brother sorry young Ragnar it's just true.

Pretty sure he doesn’t die in the books but according book fans the show is diverting pretty hard from the books so you never know. 100% would join in that though.

Fr man if I counted it right Finan has been with Uhtred for like 18 years since the slave ship. Given that Uhtred kids are about 16-18 and I think they were together for two years before that.
I love Mark Rowley as finan. He is such a great actor snd very funny snd charming. Miss him with the others in tlk. Hope to see them all.soon.

I prefer their exchange earlier in the season when right before Uhtred attacks Alfred.

I actually find Finan more charismatic and interesting that even the main character.
Uhtred is easily the most badass and well written in the show but Finan is so obviously a close second to him.
Uthred is amazing but the the more Finan's been shown the more compassionate, loyal, humourous, and brave he's become.
From the first interaction on the boat i felt a connection to Finan. The little guy with a big attitude and a sword arm big enough to match his mouth.
A brave warrior, constant companion, and silver tongue. All traits i aspire to have. He is a legend for a fictional character.

Harden up Physically and Mentally
Set a Purpose for your life - have a general Purpose not involving material things but a far wider ambition and dream.
Master Yourself in all Aspects.
While doing it, you'll have to believe and train in things which ordinary Humans can't master.

yeah in the books she gets together with Uhtred which in the series context doesn't make much sense in the books it does but in the show i reckon the way they will probably be going is that Finan marries Eadith and Either Uhtred and Aetheflad get back together or she's pregant with his child or Uhtred gets together with Hild (they kinda always hinted at Uhtred and hild being a sort off thing here and there.) or Uhtred just remains a Bachelor till his dying days.

I do agree Finan is more important than he sometimes is made to seem but I love Uhtred first then Finan & Shtric tied for second! My 3 musketeers! A protector of a Lord! A right hand man to be there for you.

One of my favorite characters and I love the way he is a foil, and gives very pragmatic and 'wry' advice to Uthred; not afraid to speak his mind. Obviously he and Cydric have become great companions and have each others backs absolutely each in their own way; e.g. Cydric is an expert tracker and does spy stuff while Finn is a solid infantryman and excellent tactician. Meeting them both in a dark alley would work out well for anyone with ill-intent lol. So looking forward to S5.

@@hazemcristy Hi the books are by Bernard Cornwell and they are called The Last Kingdom. There are about 11 books in series not finished them yet so not sure if there will be more.
Long live Uhtred and Finan!! I’ve fallen in love with both of them and will miss them so when they wrap their 5th season. I’ve read all the books and I’m always impressed how they portray it on screen. I readily respect what they’ve done because it is simply superb. The books are beyond compare and I’m heartbroken to see them end. I understand that the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg had to end but try explaining that to an addict! I’ll never forget your tales.

So true... though Osferth is becoming increasingly less "clerical and medic" as time goes on... wonder if Eadith will more take over the role. She would be a boon to the group as she can obviously run/keep up (lol from S4 where they 'cross country') but she can also get into places where their faces are currently to well known etc. As the Viking guy finds out she knows how to use a dagger...
Sithric is his tracker, his loyal warrior and friend too.

He is still alive in the books and a big big part of upcoming plots, (When they fight the irishmen) Funny fact, Finan is actually a banished Irish prince.. he fell in love with a peasant girl while engaged to a princess so they sold him to a slave trader

Love all the characters but Finan has a wicked sarcastic mouth. Love it. Also father Beocca. Oh to have a friend like either.
Oh - and I love his current set of armour - why? Looks cool but also 'boiled and studded leather' is really tough and, at a pinch, you can swim in it, unlike chain mail that will usually drag you straight to the bottom (of the water, stream, river, lake whatever, not the 'other bottom' and then fall down around your knees...).
