Are you guys for or against mandatory military service ?
Mandatory military service makes sense for smaller countries that need to defend themselves, but I feel that bigger countries don't need mandatory military service as they would probably get enough from volunteers alone.
It makes sense for some countries like South Korea. The two never officially stopped being at war with each other and all it takes is Kimmy wanting to test his luck one day.
It's not necessary for countries that aren't at war and aren't in any immediate danger of being invaded, however, like the U.S. We'd lose a lot more than we'd gain from mandatory military service in peacetime because you'd be taking people who are in the workforce and benefitting the economy and placing them in the military for x years, and all they'd be doing is sitting around and waiting.
During wartime, I'd only support drafts if we were attacked first like pearl harbor. If we weren't attacked first and being sent overseas to intervene in a civil war, of which the outcome has no effect on us, like Vietnam, then fuck that I'm not going.
I’m kind of envious because I’m in the United States miserable as hell why you guys have the opportunity to be stationed in other countries.
I served 8 years in the U.S. Army and I’m agaisnt mandatory military service because it’s just going to far. Think about it. Let’s say some 21 year old is a plumber, NFL player, engineer, business owner, etc. and that specific job was their dream growing up. They worked so hard for it and became it. Then the government sends a letter saying, either you serve or we put you in prison for that time you had to serve like 3 years for example. That person obviously joins out of fear of going to prison when really you have a god givin right to deny but some people are bad people and take away your god givin rights and then let’s say two years later, that person dies in combat at only 23 years old when that person had there whole lives ahead of them to keep doing there dream job and probably even would of got married and had kids like most adults do. It’s just sad man. The draft is just simply going too far. There some things in life people just take to far. A military draft is one of them. Most likely a country will have enough military personnel but in the rare case not, then so be it because for the reason I said. Also if a legitmate threat happens to a country then most likely more people will join to fight to make a difference for there country and fellow countrymen. Ukraine is an example.
I knew a guy who served in the South Korea Army. I'm not against the mandatory military service but I think it depends on the nation and the treatment of the people. I agree with Kyu that the ROC military should be reformed.

Just be advised, bringing out military issued rations (4:23) may be a violation of the ROK Military Criminal Law Article 74.
I don't think any military tribunal would care that you brought 1 single ration

Military isn't for everybody
@@Tcyc-le3pi I agree the military is definitely not for everybody, even the air force space force or coast guard, but yeah I agree that more people, maybe not everybody, but more people should try to join a branch for at least one contract if they can. Get that experience and hopefully also some benefits like education.

Can I have a waivers for overweight? Meps
You'd think so but not exactly.
Are you and your friend concerned about negative outcomes from him speaking so publicly about his experiences?
How are you allowed to have a beard? Also, how do you have a beard.
medical reasons
More detailed answer: The medical reasons is called a shaving profile, where you go to sick call and ask a doctor to let you have it because when you shave everyday, your skin breaks out because it is sensitive. You see this more with black males than with others. This is not the only way to get a shaving profile (there is a way to do it for religious reasons), but it seems to be more common.
