Thanks Iain loving your comments on the Bonnie - i came back to riding 5 years ago after 20 years also , Kept an old 79 T140E for posterity in a shed so i could ride after the kids grew up , but also have a T100 and its more suitable for general riding on the UK roads which are even more congested than when you were riding over here - loving your new blue and white model

Wow what a nice video it turned out to be. I was just searching for some T100 videos and thought this was going to be a boring one. But no. Really enjoyed your bike history! I just got a Street twin a couple of months back and enjoy it. And by the way those stickers I believe are for novice owners to refer to riding/ maintenance tips in the user manual.

Awww, ❤️ to all mums everywhere, just looking out for their sons (and daughters). Loved your back story - alas, my mum paid for all my driving lessons when I turned seventeen, not wanting me to get into bikes like my dad and older brother - they both had their fair share of thrills and spills, nothing alarming, just bouncing down the tarmac on their arses a few times, but she wasn’t prepared for me to take the risk. She never said as much, and I didn’t suss her motives at the time, I just thought, ‘cool, driving lessons!’. That was 1982, I’m now 55, have a CBT in one back pocket, a theory test certificate in the other, and looking forward to taking the UK DAS course in the new year (covid permitting!). Needless to say, the T100 is at the top of my drool list - lovely looking bike. Always thought there was something missing from my life - I still love my mum, though, she’s the best! Kind regards from Hampshire, UK 👍

Riding since I was 16 and still at it at 61. Also ex-courier for Southern Dispatch in Bournemouth, UK. A quick rundown of my bikes, Honda SS50, BSA 250 Starfire, Ducati 250 MkIII, BSA 650 A10, Triumph 500 Speed Twin, BSA 650 A65, Suzuki GS650GT, BMW R100RT, Kawasaki ZZR 1100, Honda ST1100. The wife doesn't want to tour anymore, at least by bike, so seriously thinking about getting a Triumph T100 as a fun bike. I love that classic look and Triumph have done a brilliant job on it.

Its good to see what other bikers have rode over the years. My first bike was the Honda MT-5 in 1983, completely gutless, topped out at 35mph and regularly overtaken by scooters like the PX, so I bought a Yamaha FS1E, got taken out by a BMW, fixed her up added a 60cc big bore kit and blew a hole in the piston (should have re-jetted), 50cc kit back on. Then bought a Suzuki GP100EX, the one with the cast wheels and front disc, went really well at first then wouldn't, sustain 60 mph, which the dealer couldn't rectify, then I got a car. 1992 bought a Honda XBR500 to commute to work on, 1998 got a brand new Bandit 600s in candy orange, and swapped the XB500 for a Honda SLR650 in 1999. 2001 got hit head on when another motorbike pulled out to overtake and didn't look, bandit written off and didnt ride again till 2012 when I bought a Street Triple 675, then a Bonneville T100 (carbs) in 2014, I wont ever sell this bike until I get too old to ride. Just traded in the Street Triple for a Yamaha Tracer 900 as I am 6'2' and 18 stone so it fits me much better.

I bought a T120 back in July and absolutely love it. This bike looks real nice as well, but I think the T120 is a much better bike for only $1,200 more - it has a centerstand, grab rail, heated grips, dual disc brakes up front and 25 more HP. But if the T120 had never been built I'd go for the T100 for sure. Both beautiful bikes!

Back in 2001 I went to check out the new Bonneville, but I ended up buying a Kawasaki W650 instead. I though it was a much better Bonnie than the Triumph! But when these new T120s came out I was blown away, and happily traded in my W for a lovely Cinder Red Bonnie. The power, the handling, and of course the looks. Wonderful bike!

Iain. Very nice review of the T100; this is my favorite bike of any available by far. My first bike was a 1980 Suzuki GN400- single, 4 str, air cooled. Vibrated me to death! Next was a 1983 Yamaha Seca 400- inline twin, 4str, air cooled: still too much vibration. Next was 1985 Kawasaki EN450 "454": inline twin, 4str, water cooled. First small cruiser with these specs. I finally hit what I had been looking for all along! Put 30,000 miles on the bike but then poor quality control and all the plastic fell off. Been looking ever since for inline twin, efi, water cooling in a standard or cruiser with better quality. So happy to hear how the T100 is doing since I am 100% sure it is my next bike. Sorry it took this long for a manf to build this!

I got the t120. I’m going to tour on it. It was the 6 speed transmission that sold me the most. The t100 didn’t lack in power at all. Both feel rather similar in handling to me. T120 is slightly more comfortable. Maybe shocks are a bit softer.

Good review of the new T100, tho some action shots would be nice. I have a '13 bonnie mag wheel in purple and white, and i love it, and altho my riding mates reckon i should get a newer, faster one, i cant really justify the price they are asking, and im still quite happy with my purple meanie.. as the saying goes, its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than it is to ride a fast bike slow..
One ques tion for you about the t100.. how do you compare the engine characteristics of the 270° motor to the old 360° motor? I agree with your point on the fake carbies, its one thing that bothers me every time i look at my bike.
Anyways, nice looking ride, lets hear that exhaust tone next vid!

    Looks great!
FWIW, all T100 dimensions are identical to the T120. Really, I'd have trouble telling the two bikes apart except for the tank colors! There's an 11 kg weight difference between the two bikes. I'll bet it's because of the T120's stock grab bar, center stand, and second front disc brake.

    • @iainwallace2618

    Seems i'm the first like...
    I also had a T100 black(though it was a 2008 and not as blacked out).Loved the bike...
Could you point out the major differences between these two, maybe in another video?
    Thanks!

νικος γιώργος thanks for watching, if I was to point out a main difference would be that it is a lot smoother to ride and just a better build quality.

Yup, vibrated a lot at cruising speeds(100-120kph).Build quality and assembly was already excellent on the old Bonneville. Bettering that says a lot about triumph.
      Stay safe…

bikerrick unfortunately when I do these videos, I have an exact idea of what I want to say in my head, however, when I start talking I forget everything that I want to say and ramble on endlessly. so a youtube tip would be to write a sort of script so you get everything across that you want to.

    Mr Wallace,
    I'll be 65 on 2/17. I've been riding for 50yrs.
Red Renna, Captain Rambunctious, PhilTonic & Phil480 know my comments.
I don't know how many bikes I've had.
Right now, I'm on my 1st American bike. It's a 2011 Harley "StreetBob." I get LOTS of compliments on my bike.
It's TOO BIG. It's TOO HEAVY.
It has a HIGH center of gravity.
The ONLY THING I can say for it is IT IS GORGEOUS!
    I want Triumph #4.(also gorgeous)

Mate, surely when you were 16 you could've stood up for yourself a little more :-) The MBX would have handled, braked and generally behave better than that moped thingy your mum insisted on. I was 16 back in 1980 and had a black MB50. I also used to own a CBX550 at 17 and owned a GPZ900 in '85,, so I get where you're coming from.

Dave 646 It was a disappointment indeed, to this day I do not fully understand why the bike dealer was so insisted on selling the Px50, my only guess they were unďer pressure to sell them, but in the end they lost money as I never returned to them.

that sucks, and you bought it with your own money? I would've told them to piss off, and gone back with a different person or at a different dealership. Oh well lol
