Great information. I'm a Tactical Medic instructor for my agency, more than just a tourniquet is needed to be effective. A good trauma kit needs Chest seals, wound packing gauze, pressure dressings and at least 2 tourniquet. Trauma shears and nasal airways are a good idea too. As far as what kit. I buy the pouch and fill it with my own items. Honestly I love the Tacticon pouches for small personal IFAKs. I keep an IFAK on my training/duty belts And larger trauma kits in my vehicle add my backpack. But above all else you must train with you gear. Take a stop the bleed and CPR classes every few years. Train, train, train.
I'm also use a lot of packing gauze when I deal with traumatic incidents because there are junctures that a tourniquet cannot be used on so for those who are uncomfortable using a tourniquet or are not confident in its use. Gauze is the absolute best thing
I've started using H&H gauze a good bit. Ive worked in a high crime city in the south where people shoot each other for sport and it works about as good as Quick Clot or Celox. You probably know but the neck, chest cavity and abdominal region shouldnt be packed with gauze. I use chest seals or for the abdomen i use abdominal pad and pressure bandage. Also for femoral artery bleeds up to high for a tourniquet Ive found a knee in the groin area on the artery works well until you can get to another option.
I am also in total agreement with packing your own medical equipment because the fact that no kit that you have will prepare you for every situation in fact my personal kit is made by a company called lightning x and they make fantastic bags

Handmade in America, guaranteed for life, with over 130 lives saved to date, tested and USED, by tier 1-3 units on 4 continents before going to market, and if you use the components of their kits to save a life they replace those contents at no cost to you. They have the best training offered to civilians on planet earth!
I stabbed my hand with the EDC relentless by accident doing what you said about missing the sheath like 2 weeks ago, smh. Your knives are very very sharp and my hand will not forget it. I used quick clots and pressure bandages because it was gushing as soon as I realized what I just did.
Now Greg, I am very pleased to see that our conversations have sparked this video you know as well as I do. If you need anything please don't hesitate to reach out my brother
@@BoneTactical I just added one more because there is a company that I would honestly place their bags as some of the best and most thoughtful in the business. They are the one that I use so I posted that up too. It's called lightning x and they're out of North Carolina and they are phenomenal. In fact, I use them at work. I'll send you a picture of the bag I use on Monday
What do you think about an ankle med kit layout? Based on my lifestyle and how i carry it seems like a good option. I may have asked you before but I'm hurting rn and can't remember. When my health gets better and i can train again I'm going to get trauma training
If you have the training to use everything in the ankle kit and you wear it regularly. Willing and able to use it then it sounds like it works for you.
Green tourniquet tape is some good stuff. A guy I was working with stuck a router in his hand and sprayed blood everywhere. I didn't say anything, my instincts kicked in, I grabbed him pushed him to a safe space and wrapped him up tight. He worked the rest of the day 😅 It was weird cuz I usually get sick if someone is even telling me a gross story.
Refuge Medical makes the best medical kits on planet Earth handmade in American guaranteed forever.
Tell them to check me out 👊🏼
True story!!!!
Also best training. Problem with many is cheep knockoff parts that break when needed
You are getting into some really important and imperative equipment for survival, I appreciate your content and intent.

In my experience 550 cord is not wide enough to stop bleeding but I agree with you if you carry a tq you should be carrying gauze and other items

@@ryangriffith1500 when I worked as a part-time bouncer I wore one quite frequently. I added a couple of extra things but overall they were great
doom and bloom have some GREAT kits. Please let us know what you think of them.
If they send some my way I’ll surely review them 👊🏼
I have 3 ouch pouches from taticon armament , there great
They are probably the worst you can get but if you can’t afford good gear it’s an option
Where'd my comment go?
