Most of the Xtremes are gone now, a bone-stock one is even harder to find. Mine sat for 4 years but I managed to save it before it was too late. 244k, 4.3 5spd
But I found one
I found one bone stock back in 2018 when I was 15. It has a 4.3 Vortec v6 with cold air intake, 4 speed automatic, extended cab with fleet side bed, and black paint with gold stripes. Barely any rust on the frame or chassis. It was my first vehicle and I still have it today. I take care of it because they’re becoming more and more rare with each passing year.
This review is amazing!!!!!!! No bullcrap lies, no exagerations, just 100% info (Even the engines that are AVAILABLE!) and great camera work, I would DEFINITELY buy a car from you man keep em comin!
Aw, man. You didn't put the third seat down. I was waiting for it! lol
Natasha House that was a good little quirk those trucks had
just love the look of these small trucks
Dont believe the bad things you hear about s10s. I know more than one person that has an s10 with over 200,000 miles.
Austin Bishop uhh I have an 85 with 290k that still runs fine. they are good lil trucks
I had a '00 s10 Blazer that ran to 198k until some Woman ran the light & KILLT It...
I have an 2000 s10 with 240K miles and it’s still great!!
Love s10s
Best looking truck chevy has ever made IMO. Shouldve put a 5.3 in them tho. Easy swap ive heard
head0927 never understood why you dident get the v8 either the 5.7 or the 5.3 on the special edition package like the zr2 and the xtream

That and the 1995 Chevy s10 ss and syclone
Talking about Colorado next gen 2005
This was my dream truck finaly got its v6 ls long body xtreme
OXNARD 805 no quema coch cuh
I got an 01 xtreme and I friggin love it. The 4.3l vortec is a good motor. Im putting dual flowmaster super44s on it and a cold air intake cant wait.
CAI has no benefits and the filter fills up faster than a factory one which restricts airflow and you lose power. Not to mention the don't filter the air anywhere as good.
Jasonrotfl So why sell them? They do nothing? Car guys aren't idoits.
Patrick Turner
Multiple studies have shown that oem air boxes are better and people buy them because they believe all the fancy graphs on the side saying they will gain 15 HP and increase torque.
I noticed a difference with my CAI, but I put a throttle body spacer as well and later got the Hypertech power programmer. It really woke it up. Also, I lived 2 miles up a dirt road for 2 years with it and never had any issues with my filter clogging. I've got CAIs on other vehicles too and no problems. BTW it was a 2001 Blazer Xtreme 5spd. It really scooted along for a Blazer lol
I'm THAT guy... the programmer is what gave you the gains.
a simple tune will give you 20hp
Best review of this truck I've ever seen. Thank you!
Really bro, you're complaining about the wipers and the signals on the same stalk? Really? I have a 93 with the same motor. 300,000 miles. Still going. When my neighbor has a Toyota and a Nissan, both imports, and they are in the garage 24/7. Also, who was one of the top sellers last year? GM.
AMEN
BUT. You are right, GM is king! I love the old gm stuff more though
They should've never discontinued this. They made the Xtreme to compete with the Dakota R/T and Toyota Tacoma X Runner. And I see more of these then any of them.
The other sides got a jump seat not a storage pocket
A car can be a sweet without going 200 MPH or hitting vtec. I don't like going 10000 MPH. You get tickets, people die. I prefer acceleration, which this truck indeed has.
EXACTLY
Those were hot looking back in the day… Still holds up pretty well.
Hell yea bro, mine has close to 193,000 mls and has still a lot to i, these engines are one of the best!!
Yea my exterior and interior is horrible lol but the engine just runs so amazing, it picks up really well and hauls like nothing, man GM sure put good work in to them
You do know in the back there's 1 door pocket and the others a fold down jump seat to hold an extra person so it's a 3 seater not a 2
man dammit. i didn't see this one pop up in my subscribtions box. i love these special trims. like the typhoon and the Syclone!
You said "Flareside", but that is the term that Ford uses for its similar bed styling. Chevy's term for that particular style of truck bed is "Stepside", as opposed to "fleetside" (the other styling option available for the s10)
Felix Hernandez sport side is the correct term
And so a legend was born on TH-cam.
I never was a truck person but I always liked this truck.
Great vid, Kyle. Good to see you back "on the air" after a, I'm sure well deserved, vacation. One thing to note, you didn't demo the rear jump seat, located on the passenger rear panel. Otherwise it's good to see you back and also entertaining to watch all the viewers make thier silly comments. I think the comments are sometimes almost as interesting as the vid. Keep up the good work, Kyle!
I love the dashboards in the GM trucks of that era very simple and easy to work on...Much better to me than that Colorado that replaced it....
@gmman010983 Never heard anybody say that before in my life, these dashboards were pure trash. All they did was fall apart since they were such cheaply & utterly made trash.
200hp and 200lbs of torque isn't good enough for a stock minitruck? Okay... lol Just because the speedo reads 100 doesn't mean the truck is only capable of 100.
Our 96 Blazer had 266k when we sold it. The rest of the vehicle wasn't all that but it was one hell of a workhorse and that 4300 ran perfect. Only thing it was a bitch to change the plugs and wires so we made sure we used good ones so we never had to do that again.
my dad has a 2001 Chevy Xtreme also and they are just awsome
YESSS I was wondering when you'd review a good example of one of these. Just sold my red 00'. They are fun little trucks in V6 form. :-D
love my regular 2003 extended cab 4.3 vortex 4x4 with big tires, this one is too much like a race truck. if that's your thing it's nice I suppose
You get the body kit, the lowered and very stiff zq8 suspension, the unique wheels, and a choice from striping, the "HEAT" graphics, or nothing at all. ive had a '99 xtreme since 2001. I was 19 when I got it. chevys goal was to attract younger buyers with this model, it worked. the best thing about all s10's is how easy it is to drop a 350, or many various v8 platforms. they literally drop right in with almost not modifications at all. great trim for a v8 swap tho, no appearance mods needed.
beautiful truck you're the best on here.
The S10 Extreme has a different, more aggressive, cam shaft than the regular 4.3. This can be seen by the VIN code "W" versus the VIN code "X" in the 8th spot i believe.
DeFreshS10 interesting
Wrong lol. The w means it's a 4.3. Nothing on the vin says if it's an xtreme only the RPO codes tell you
This will 100% be my first truck, best minitruck IMO
@NotXero These are pretty decent little trucks, but the Ford Ranger is a far better one in literally every aspect.
@@2H2521 Prove it then
@@NotXeroThe proof is in the pudding, jr.
I am looking to buy a S-10 as my daily driver. Great review as always!
My dad has an S10 Xtreme that looks like that one its a great truck i want one in yellow with black stripes.
I bought a 2003 s-10 z r2 and I love it this is my 3rd s-10 and they are the best trucks to own so I say go out and find 1 and buy it
I’m getting one next week a 03 zr2
02 xtreme 4cyl with 280k miles still going strong .
Dem stripes doe o_o
3:36 where is he getting this? My low optioned v6 xtreme on the scale was 3800 without driver.
Saabkyle's first vid!
No
quagmire its his first vid thats showing up on his channel?
The dark lord chin chin try
Yes finally a video, and its got the XTREME package!!!! Gotta love that XTREME marketing! lol It reminds me of a deleted Family Guy scene in the episode where Joe walked again. I take it you were in the OBX for the beach? I agree it was a deserved vacation because you've been busy Kyle but TH-cam has been so boring and lonely this past week with no new tours :( I don't care about what those channels with millions of subscribers are doing THIS is more satisfying to watch for me!
Great vid as always Kyle, is there any chance you could please do the red Bravada at 0:43 please? Thanks.
I remember seeing one of these when it was lowered, the bed was covered, and best of it was chopped of from its Roof ( convertible) .
I love how everything clean q shine in Kyle world
thank u so much, i was looking foward to purchising one of these. Thanks for the facts and details. U make me wanna buy this alread as my first vehicle. question, are these s10's gas savers?
+Jason Zantizo Lol, you'll be sorry
+toyoscio why lol
+SWRTY do they have manual tranmissions too?
+Jason Zantizo he JUST said in the video 12 city 17 highway.
i have a single cab stepside xtreme (shorter than the one in the video), 2 seater manual transmission with the 4.3 vortec and the g80 locker differential. i've managed 21 mpg as my all time BEST. average is around 19 mpg. even when coasting hills and shutting off.
since commenting, i now average 22mpg. i started shifting as follows:CalypsoNotch408
1st gear to 10mph
2nd gear to 15mph
3rd gear to 20mph
4th gear to 30mph
30+mph = 5th gear.
the cuplrit: american driving habits. i never shift beyond 1300 rpm. 1500 when im being "average" (as in, shitty driver).
we have lead foots. but it also depends how deep you push the pedal. you cant just jerk it around and expect good mileage. the injectors are dump happy.
i push the pedal less than a quater inch down to get it moving. i used to push at one quater to half way down. its all in the driving.
on the highway, our trucks are at peak efficiency based on aerodynamics at 60mph. and in 5th gear doing 60 the whole way, my foot is still only a quater inch pushed. (like, barely touching the pedal).
anything beyond 60mph is greatly diminishing efficiency as our trucks are beyond the point of least wind resistance for it's size, weight, and shape.
Can you do the Mazda CX5?
This is the first S10 I've ever seen in good condition!
Nobody ever mentions that the 4.3 Extreme(I don't know about the 2.2)up has 3.73s in the rear,5/16s brake lines, and a quicker ratio steering box.
My dream truck
what are the two green toggle switches for in the interior?
72Chevelle454 I was wondering the same thing. Stereo is not factory as dash is hacked.
You say at 2:59 that it has 4 wheel disk brakes. It looks like the rears were drums in the video.
They are drums in the rear
I have a buick that has the hazard button in the same position. My question is, whats so hard about sticking your hand in there? Also, how often do you even use hazards?
At 3:18 I noticed that you straight up lied about the 4 wheel disc brakes
Don't assume malice! Perhaps he simply misspoke.
A mistake, but I wouldn't blame him. You would expect there to be 4 wheel disc brakes on a sport package like this
Pancake Waffle House on have eternal IEP??!???? 😘😗😐😗😋😚😚🇰🇷🇰🇷😥😗🇬🇧😙😗🇪🇸😗🇪🇸😚🇰🇷🇮🇹🇮🇹😥🏉🇬🇧🏉🇬🇧🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸😥😚🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🏉😐😥🇰🇷🇪🇸🇯🇵🇮🇹🇮🇹
There are 4 wheel disc brakes. The s-10's have a weird bulge behind the wheel that look like drum brakes at first, but if you look closer there are disc brakes.
This is modified. It may have 4 wheel discs. You don’t know, I hate how everyone on the internet thinks they have a PhD in everything
I'm pretty sure that those are drum brakes in the rear? Correct me if I'm wrong.
You are correct sir.
In 2005 my dad got this truck and then he scrapped it in 2013 and also the music is appropriate for this truck
Kyle why didnt you demonstrate the backseat that folds out so someone can sit behind the front passenger? You can see it folded up at 8:44
And right when I was like "well what mpg does the V6 get?" he says it. freakin great!
I know I’m way late to this video but didn’t mention the 3rd seat located behind the passenger seat
The 4-cylinder that some of these had the same displacement as the Cavalier's, but it's not the same engine. It's actually a Vortec engine, even the 4-banger.
well...find somewhere safe like a dedicated race track or somewhere abandoned. I like to drive fast myself;do i when i can? yes! would i risk lives by speeding down the road more than a bit over the speed limit? no. dont take it the wrong way, i meant under normal conditions, if you can find the right place, do it.
Its lowered from the factory. You could get a standard 2wd suspension to lift it back to standard height, or search for a lift kit for a 2wd s10.
Kyle, I think you missed something. At 08:52 isnt that a seat that you can pull out and sit on in the back?
Later in the years, they did offer 4 wheel disks. My 01 blazer has 4 wheel disks.
12-17 mpg??????? Where'd you hear that? It gets about 21ish on the highway . And 15-17 in the city. Even 4 wheel drive still manages to get about 19 or 20. You must have been thinking of the Chevrolet Silverado with the big 5.3 L V-8. But even that will get 18 mpg
i get 13mpg
Yeah lol I get about 14 mpg with a mix of city and highway in my 4.3 v6
97 4.3 5speed with cold air tb spacer fresh ECU. Get 18to 22mpg. Mixed driving. 156K miles.
Cheezymatt I get like 15-16 in my 2.2 lol
I get around 13-14 city and 16-18 highway
What are the stepside xtremes called? Is it the same name for both stepside and fleetside? How much do the stepsides usualy cost used?
This man needs to learn more about this truck before he gives a decent review
I bought a s10 2001 Ls, I was looking for the s10 xtreme but those trucks are hard to find, I bought the s10 2001 LS truck, and i bought it for the low miles, 86000 miles on it, I really don't know how good are those trucks, Hope is a good truck, I just bought it for school.
Its not so much a hotrod look, moreso a lowered sport truck look that was big in the 90's and early 2000's. As far as I know it was more of a West Coast thing, but I know lots of people were lowering S10's and even full size 2wd trucks then slapping rims on them. This is Chevy's offering to that market.
I had a '91 S10 that was the best vehicle I ever had. Honestly it felt more solid than the couple of Hondas I've had since then. I'm hoping to buy one like this as my next vehicle.
Love the straight side. I wouldn't turn down the stepside either.
Nice truck lovely 👈👌👍☝️🐓
hey. just started watching your vids i live in raleigh. small world
nice truck man
For some reason thats what almost all of the S10s/Blazers with the Xtreme package came with
Did you take the back seats out?
The Vortec 4300s aren't that efficient but they're bulletproof reliable.
Never shows the jump seat
You dont sound as relaxed as the vids around 2010. Take it easy man, keep your style, enjoy and relax. Great vids, love them
I just bought a 2003 chevy extream with all the goodies.105 thousand orignial milage its a 4.3L v6my first thing I would like to know is the air dam in front is cracked in the middle i need to repair.what is the best prodic to use.2is when I took it on the freeway just to see what it would do it seem it had alot of pick up .i reached 100mpr it craped out.a friend of mine said it may have a govner on it .dose any one know about this paul
Saw the blue F250, could u possibly do a tour of it?
that 4 speed auto is named the 700R4 which also fits a Chevy 350
Yes, i know. But they use v6 in small sedan's, why put a 4 cylinder in a truck? Sorry for bad english.
Nice classic show truck you must've restored it?
agreed. actually, If I'm not mistaken, the truck is only capable of 100 hp because of the government required speed limiter.
2:58 "With 4 wheel disc brakes" lol
what are the two extra blue switches under the dash for
Why are the rubber fuel lid bumpers missing?
And why is the double din dash bezel chopped up around the radio?
It's a used truck.. how would you expect him to know? This video is from 2012 lol.
@@JA-rn5qv
Obvious mistakes like these would not be found on an S10 if the owner was a true S10 fan. Just sayin'...
please do that jimmy in the back, please!
Those looks like comfy seats.
Just like my 2003 S10 except I have a 5 speed standard transmission and a 2.2 vortec 4 engine no body kit though but I get 29 mph on highway same black color and 141000 miles on the engine.
Does anybody know if they made this truck with a stick? I really like it but the auto ruins it for me.
***** Yes, I own one with a standard transmission.
+Samwise Drogod only 1 in every 4 03 xtremes were stick, yet more common than you think, mines a 5 speed
Is it still for sale?
Where can I find a full extreme body kit for the Chevy S-10 ?? 1997
How much for the bravada you have ..I love the color
Did Chevy ever make these S10 xtremes with single cab?
yes they did and are actually harder to find over an extended cab
@@koolskater30 Yep i own a 2002 chevy s10 xtreme single cab 5 speed manual
Yep ... mines a short cab .. short bed .. fleet side .. 5 speed . 4.3 v6 .. 308 rear posi .....
Do you still have s10 extreme how much how many miles
@saabkyle04 how do we turn on the airbag I saw a key needed
V10 - I lIKE IT!
That is correct, the s-10 has a governor in it.
Still my favorite truck
lmao nice bro really made me laugh
