Just rewatched this. So great! I love your choices of papers and your laid back way of putting a book together. I have time to make one today!! Exciting.
Oh my gosh Meg, by watching your tutorial, I now feel confident I can actually make a journal. I have watched so many how to tutorials that I have been hesitant to even try. Thank you so much for making your journal tutorials so easy to follow.
there's something about this video that stands out from the other ones I've seen. I just felt safe here on this corner of TH-cam and I just stopped what I was doing to calm my anxiety and let go of my depressive thoughts. Thank you for posting this and existing, truly.
Great tutorial! Didn't know I could use my embroidery threads. Thought I had to have wax coated threads, awl and precise measurements to make a journal, Now I know there is an easier way. 😃
Just found out about junk journals today, watched this as part of my research on it. As someone who loves customization, upcycling, DIY crafts (or at least watching videos about it), this video was soothing, asmr-like, relaxing. As a book lover and lowkey hoarder who loves to preserve things in their original form, seeing all these old books and music sheets torn like that was anxiety inducing. Strange mixture of feelings to have at the same time, relaxed and anxious, lol! Anyway, while I won't be tearing up any books anytime soon, this tutorial was helpful and inspiring anyway, I learned some bookbinding from it and it might be a good way to deal with some of my old recyclables i haven't gotten rid of, or work on a language learning journal/moodboard combo :) Thanks for posting it!
Meg, what a beautiful video. I work with children and was thinking of making a scrapbook club. This video will help me get started. Thank you so much! 🖤
Oh my gosh! Thank you for this video. You explained it so simple and easy to understand! I’m finding a lot of videos that have so much in them that you could never “journal” in them. They’re more glue journals.
I’ve watched many videos on the subject. First time I have watched you. The thing I like is that you reacted to all your comments not like other people that have comments even questions they do not respond. That is cool. Thank you for a great video
Thank you for explaining the process of how to start putting a journal together, like where you go and what you look for. I have never done this and am very excited to do one. I am looking at paper items in a total different way and have started saving some 🤗 Thank you for sharing🙏🥰
Great tutorial! You have an easy-to-understand and successful method--a system, really. I plan to adopt it as I begin my art journal journey. Thank you for such a well-thought-out and produced video! 💖👌😀
Thank you for sharing your TH-cam video on how easy it is to make Junk Journals! I can't wait to go to my thrift stores to look for old books to use beautiful pictures.
I’ve dabbled in all sorts of ‘crafting’, scrapbooking, decoupage, painting, mixed-media etc and I can now say that junk journalism is my favourite. It is perfect for me and my ever changing moods and the fact that there are no rules. You do what YOU want and how you want. Lovely, easy to follow video. And I’ve subscribed. Thank you.
Thanks for showing how you assemble your signatures! I've done bookbinding of various sorts but haven't yet made a junk journal and wasn't sure how I'd go about mixing my papers for signatures. Welkl done!
Thank you for such an easy tutorial ! You have the gift of teaching ! I’m excited to make my 1st journal ! You made the signature less scary to attempt !
Wanted to make a junk journal for the first time ever and this tutorial is the best! It's to the point, informative, and soothing ( your voice is calming ☺️)
Meg, this is absolutely brilliant and you have become my favourite art journal teacher ;) It is so wonderful to get instructions that are so brilliant for a beginner journaller. Thank you so so much for this. Bless you
Being a mega pack-rat, this project makes me very happy. Also love the lack of precise measuring and cutting. Can't wait to make one of these on the weekend!
23:32 how do you place the next signature? do you sew through the same holes you already made? i wish that last tiny part was included. otherwise great easy to follow tutorial.
@@megjournals very much. Part way through a 3 signature journal. Combining what I've learned from Julie at Camelia Crafts Designs and you. Loving it. x
your tutorials are so lovely + easy to follow ❤️ personally i love to buy things for my junk journal and don't think it makes it "fake" 😊 i also make a beeline for the gardening section in charity shops hahaha 🤗 thank u for sharing your talent + tips!!
Great video! You have simplified this craft with the necessary information in a concise and timely manner! I’m going to give it a try so I can teach my crafty/artsy 7 year old granddaughter how to make one! Starting small is the key for any beginner! Thanks!
This is so helpful!! Thank you. I am brand new to this art form so was feeling a bit overwhelmed but now I have a much better idea of what I want to do!
Thanks so much for this!! I know how to sew signatures and stuff but I really wanted to make a Harry Potter junk journal with scraps of paper/cutouts/stickers etc. tysm!
I always get hung up on what papers to use and where I should put them when making signatures so your organizing ideas are brilliant. I also struggle with how many pages in a signature…and how many signatures to put in as most how to videos overstuff their journals which ends up with that croc mouth look-which I don’t care for. How do you decide on a size for your journals and whether to use a hard or soft cover? It does occur to me that all this is part of what keeps me from creating but thanks for your vids! I plan to watch more!
I’m over here in Texas just dumbfounded that you made your covers with scrapbook paper and a glue stick. I’ve been saving cereal, and cracker boxes, or gutting hard covered out dated books. I can’t wait to try something more casual and far less time consuming. Thank you for showing us this far less complicated style!
Great clear instructions and thanks so much for using time-lapse as I'm done with watching all those pairs of expressive hands accompanied by 'um', 'eh', 'and', ad nauseam! This was perfect!
I don't know how I got here, I have no use for such a journal personally, but it was so mesmerizing to watch and very well-explained! What a beautiful end result, and to think- using it will only make it MORE visually interesting!
WOW!!! Just maybe I can do this! 😆 Finding my courage to do this has been tough... You've made it seem totally doable! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!
Ooh! I've made junk journals before but I'm not super satisfied with my method! Really looking forward to trying yours out and using all the cool tips!
LOVE this! Okay, I'm new to junk journalling. So here is a newbie question: how do you write/mark on the journal pages that have print/images on them? So you can see what you write down? THank you!
Don’t fancy sewing? Try this simple no sew method instead! th-cam.com/video/A49ouz4qoe4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xdy1BqKoBWPLRF2b

You made it very understandable! Thank you, I wanted nothing to do with signatures because they seemed sooooo complicated.🤗
Yay! Glad it was helpful! Happy journaling :)

For using fragile paper I reinforce the crease with painters tape and it works wonders
Great tutorial! Didn't know I could use my embroidery threads. Thought I had to have wax coated threads, awl and precise measurements to make a journal, Now I know there is an easier way. 😃
Thank you! Totally achievable without fancy materials :) Using what you have and being creative with it is more fun anyway :D
These are the cutest journals I have ever seen

This was two yrs ago 😂
In separate holes next to the first one - leave a bit of a gap so the pages aren’t squished together :)
It was two years ago yes and I’m still happy to answer questions :)
Fabulous!!! You made it so practical and easy. I always overthink this stuff 😘

LOVE this! Okay, I'm new to junk journalling. So here is a newbie question: how do you write/mark on the journal pages that have print/images on them? So you can see what you write down? THank you!
You’ll need to use permanent markers or pens that will keep the ink on any kind of paper that is glossy or magazine type papers
