[Tool Assisted Demonstration] Pikmin 2 - 5 Day Completion - Day 2

This was a real challenge to make. Pikmin 2's mechanics are foreign to me so there was a lot to learn. Routing Pikmin 2 seems more complicated than 1 because there are a lot of possibilities opened up by the dual captains. Getting everything to line up perfectly took a lot of effort but I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Caves are excluded because they're irrelevant to the challenge (spray farming fest).

I know what you were doing with the blue paint!!! you were charging its speed using how the carry speed calculates based on the speed of a pikmin holding and letting go, i saw a video on that where they made a treasure jump into the sky

Days 3 4 and 5 are pretty textbook for speed runs.
You need to scrape together 755 pokos in enemies, but if you pace the first two days properly, that's more than possible.
That allows you to clear the debt while completing VoR for day 3. VoR doesn't force you to use any crazy tricks like the goo pump, just some napsacks and a few momentum throws.
1 day PP and 1 day WW are both complicated, but there's nothing new or innovative about the run at that point.

Watching you struggle with the paint was torture until "it" finally happened then I was like "shit! They're flying!" So, does the spray make pikmin walk faster? Haven't played 2 in years but I don't remember it doing so in 3...

the spray makes all pikmin move at the speed of a flower pikmin, which is also true in 3, except it's slightly more complicated than that.
This trick exploits 2 other details about how carry speed works though.
1) In 2, carry speed isn't recalculated when a pikmin's speed changes (loses it's flower, or spicy spray runs out) Only when it lets go of the object.
2) The object's carry speed isn't recalculated from scratch, it's done via addition/subtraction.
The result is that when a leaf pikmin grabs the treasure while spicy sprayed, then the spray runs out, and then the pikmin lets go, they reduce the speed by a different value than they increased it, so TRR was able to slowly pump more and more speed into the decorative goo, until they could force it over the ledge.
