Or you can also give him the uppercut when he's making a "Boo!", that works the same way. Speedrunners use this method for their runs against both Contender and TD Sandman, as a example.

I’ve got some questions: why did you let Soda Popinski drink his soda instead of knocking it out, and why did you lose stamina in the Title Defense Piston Hondo challenge?
If you punch it out he does the same attack as when he gets back up, which after a while I think becomes impossible to dodge which is fine for a speedrun but this run is trying to not take any damage (which is also why it's ok that he lost stamina I think.)

This is what is called a "playaround" AKA, is not aiming for fastest completion time, just showing off If the runner wanted to aim for that, he would've likely done a lot of things differently, like getting the R1 KO on Contender Joe, Contender Kaiser and prolly TD Tiger, knocking the drinks off both Soda Pop fights to avoid healing, thus avoiding making it to R2 with TD, etc.

Adam Karim Flawless = perfect series of inputs necessary to achieve a perfect time. Some of these methods (getting hit) shave a few seconds, it’s all intentional.

The world record RTA beat TD Soda Popinski in 1:23 on round 1. This is just a poor TAS all around, or perhaps it wasn't aiming for time at all.
