What a beautiful playthrough of this game. No backdash or jumpkick spam, no door glitches, just great routing, varied weapons, and a smooth, relaxed playstyle. Thank you for posting this.
Omg!! I haven't played any video games since I was 11. The last one was Castlevania II. Simon's Quest. I have sure as hell missed a lot in the gaming world. This was amazing!
This game is still remembered as the best castlevania of the series even though it completely changed from the originals that were on the nintendo and super nintendo they all had great music and atmosphere
@@realnsenpai I really liked Aria/Dawn only because they had the soul system which is fucking cool. Now that I got used to it, other Castlevania games feel empty without it. So it'd make sense for me to think they're the best.
i'm just finished to watch because when i was playing it before i am not done this game it's so hard to me.... to those who are playing this video i salute to you cause the way you play no one hit you except one when you turn as a bat. thanks
Like a boss, funny how long it took me to finish this game back in the days. probably a month or something. and even that with the crappy ending. Later i had to google to know there is a 200% map completion ending lol. Worth every minute though. It was such a good game to play. One of the best I've played in my entire not so gaming life. This and FF8
Castlevania represents all that is good in the video game industry. If there was ever one series of games the made a person proud to be a gamer, it has to be the CV series.
I have been playing this game for the better part of 20 years, and it STILL stands the test of time. These COD babies raised on FPS wouldn't appreciate this game for its 4 star quality: story, graphics, music, replay value. the beauty of the 2D rendering is a testament to the older titles in the series. A timeless classic that is one of the 2 or 3 best PSX games ever.
After playing Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap remastered/remade version on Switch, I wish there are more old games like this Castelvania and Metroid being remade.
The scene in Guardian Heroes is not VDP1 transparency, it's VDP2 transparency. You have an option to set some sprites to be half-transparent compared to a background, and this is what eats everything under the sprite: it is drawn as opaque (overwrites anything underneath it), but the VDP2 renders it transparent by combining it with a background. Castlevania on Saturn actually uses this a lot, for example the lanterns on the wall, the blue doors, the ghost monsters, the fight with Shaft, etc. Saturn VDP1 can actually do proper sprite transparency, similar to the Playstation, but it's very slow, looks buggy, and cannot be combined with background transparency, which makes it useless in any situation. the first Panzer Dragoon used it on the dragons lasers.
Love the "Wow, you're an amazing player!" comments. Could it be any more obvious that it's being played by a bot. It's a completely frame-perfect run. Zero damage, not a single missed sword swing. If you're really not sure then watch the first few seconds again and see how quickly he inputs his name. Could you enter five letters in less than half a second?
why this speedrun have a 3:24:00 duration? and there is others with a 1:40:00 btw this is the version i like it the first speed run i saw of castlevania
This game was my childhood! I played and beat this game so many times! Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was the best game in the Castlevania series by far in my opinion. I'd have to say, Alucard is definitely my favourite character. From his storyline, his character design, his voice (Which I admit still makes me shudder to this very day.), and his skills in battle. Not to mention how cool headed he is most of the time, and his skill to stay strong and Persevere through all the dangers and battles he endured. All and all, Alucard is one of the best Castlevania characters I've had the pleasure to play as, other than Simon Belmont himself. I want to play a game where Simon and Alucard work together. That sounds awesome to be honest.
Moonlight Gaster I've underestimated sotn so much I've regret it now I used to play this game a lot as a kid and only got the bad ending of this game. And the castle is so huge that you get confused once in a while feels like super Metroid in a type of way with the map system and finding new abilities and weapons and other sorts is Like the best thing ever. And spending hours in this game is worth the time. I love sotn. But I love super castlevania 4 more. There were more places to search for and I didn't even do that in the game lol. I just got the bad ending and said it was amazing lol
Could they not pay Michiru Yamane for a full score or something? Is that why there's so few tracks in the reverse castle, along with the sappy, second rate, cliche credits music that has nothing to do with Castlevania?
they are too busy making money off of pachinko machines with these type of games to bother caring about making a remake for an actual console or PC but the original creator of this game is making a game called ritual of the night which is some what similar to this but this will always be a classic.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is pretty close. The same guy who made this game is making it, and pretty much tried to stay as close to this formula as possible, except in 3D

I has the soundtrack for this game on itunes but I deleted 4 of the songs now I can't re download those songs
Watching in 2017 and I'm just still absolutely amazed at the gameplay
prob one of the best soundtracks hands down for any game out. WIth very few exceptions.
Omg!! I haven't played any video games since I was 11. The last one was Castlevania II. Simon's Quest.

+Fatal Existence I agree 100%!
i miss the game the time that im always playing at home no social media
All the castlevania main protagonists were humans wielding a whip. This one was like NOPE WE GOT A SWORD AND YOURE DRACULA'S SON WOTTTTT
I've never seen anyone be that good at any video game. ever
I love all the enemy screams in this game
Best castelvania ever!!
nikos223a Have you tried Dawn of sorrow?
imho Aria of sorrow was WAY better than dawn of sorrow, dawn was too gimmicky with the touchscreen and it kinda ruined the game.
@@ProfessionalismTrash i like that arc too. But this game is better overall. Aria/dawn has a story twist tho which alot of us loved
@@realnsenpai I really liked Aria/Dawn only because they had the soul system which is fucking cool.

So it'd make sense for me to think they're the best.
So remember this game. You make it look too easy.
The moment when you realize Alucard is Dracula backward...Mind Blown!
Dude did you not know that the first time you saw Alucard?
Tom Bianco NO WAY!
Took you a little time, didn't it?
Wanna know the true identity of Dr. Acula then?
I warn you, it will blow your mind!
OKJ lol god damn give the guy a break

For the life of me i cannot figure out how to get into that secret area/alcove as the bat grabbing the Holy sword.
update figured it out however, i picked up a demon familiar relic instead why ? Did I miss something to this point???
Answer: PS1 Holy sword
Ps4 Remaster : Demon familiar

Like a fuckin' BOSS! I still can't get to the upside-down part, no matter how hard I try on the XBox 360.
Because you can't find the holyglasses or can't beat Shaft?
a9udn9u I don't even know what the Holy Glasses are! Thanks!
1:44:02 Maria gives the Holyglasses to you at the center of the castle, 1:54:53 wear them before you visit Richter .
I love how Count Dracula was resurrected from the dead only to be wrecked by his own son before he can even reek havoc 😂
Grave keeper, lost brother of Cormano?
Sinto algo além da vida vendo isso....Meu jogo favorito...O melhor de todos
I used to ocd the shit out of this game as well, but wtf, is this played by a robot?

Strange that you would make a TAS with no slide dashing.

This is impressive speed run, around 1:08:43 the player fully explored that area without even check map once?? That's a bit unbelievable.
This dude punched the fuck outta that griffin...
One of the greatest games of all time.
2:48:00 The most powerfull boss. Epic battle.
I remember playing this as a kid, never finished it but i tought i was very close, man how fucking wrong i was
What is TFP?
I think there should be a sequel to this game. Flesh the Alucard character out more
If you beat Dracula without picking up any weapons and without being resurrecting by Maria, you can start the game with Alucard with 80 HP.
Best OST Ever
