Another superb and very informative video Mads. The accompanying images are beautiful! You produce really top quality videos and the informative format is a winner (and perhaps a source of full time work even?). How long did you spend in the States and whilst on the same subject, how long did you spend in Iceland? Keep up with the great work mate and stay safe on your travels.🍀
Thanks Andy, very much appreciated! I would love to do this full-time, but there's not much money in it. Hopefully some day the add revenue can at least pay the rent ;) I spend 40 days and I've spend around 45 days in Iceland as a photographer divided on three trips. Have you been there yourself?
It's such a shame that there isn't more money in it Mads, it really is. I haven't been to either but Iceland is at the top of my list, hopefully in the next couple of years.🍀👍
Yeah there's a few strategies to follow when you get enough subscribers, but for now, I have to earn my money another place and put them into this project ;) You really have something to look forward to! I can't say which I like the most it's all so different.
I only had two days there in the summer, one in the valley and one to the east side of the park, hiking the trail to Mono Pass. The east side of the park was not so busy, and still quite scenic. Lots of great pictures there, too.
As a Californian Yosemite is a top destination. The first time you look up at El Capitan and Half Dome your mind can hardly take in the enormity of the scale of these huge mountains. As you said, Yosemite is amazing any time of year and the sheer number of possible amazing photographs has been barely tapped since the advent of photography.
I cannot express how well you've done with this video. You've added camera setting to the pictures, given nice descriptions and to top it all off they are spectacular images. For researching my trip to Yosemite you've been both helpful and inspirational. Thank you. As a bonus: I've never thought about sunset, moonrise, etc. being at different speeds. Thanks.
As they say time is relative... so this video is not long at all (as in boring or a waste of time). You show so many beautiful places in the park and useful tips in such a logical way, it's really inspiring to watch and listen :) I would also love to spend a year there and explore the park in all seasons!
Quick question, I have a Canon Rebel SL3, which has an APS-C sensor, and a kit 18-55mm lens. Do you know if ill be able to get a shot that can fit the all the mountains in? (My 18mm on my camera is equal to a 28.8mm on full-frame)
I just came across your work. All I can say is awesome. We did Death Valley to kings canyon/sequoia to Yosemite to San Francisco down the coast to LA in one week early this year and now I want to go back. You do an awesome job as a tour guide!!!
Mads Peter Iversen I thought it was just right ! There is loads to see there ! I felt you spoke about the highlights without going into too much detail, but enough to be informative ! With somewhere like Yosemite it would be easy to ramble as it's an incredible place !
Thanks Joe, yeah I actually had a bit of video from other locations, but I felt I needed to cut it down to keep the focus. Maybe I'll make a part 2 when I return some time in the future :)
Mads.. The quality of your content is par excellent ! Yosemite is one of those place I really enjoyed visiting and photographing. Please keep up the great work. Looking forward to more inspirational videos.
Love your pictures. An excellent presentation of American landscapes & the beauty of Mother Nature. Also like that you show the details of each shot. You're an accomplished photographer; hopefully you can make a living doing this. Its such a pleasure to see all the places Ive been through the lens of another. Thank you for your visions.
Somehow missed this video first time but came back to it. You are a fantastic photographer and I enjoy your pictures. My wife and I are driving from our home in VA to Yosemite in June 2018 to meet our son & grandson for a week. Here's hoping I get half the shots you did. Thanks for sharing your work.
Loved this video. Taking my 4 grandsons to Yosemite in August and plan to show this video to the oldest (13) on Friday night to (hopefully) inspire him,
Outstanding. Yours are among the very best of the TH-cam videos for photographers. Thank you for the information you put into the videos, and your enthusiasm for the locations and the images you show. Among the MPI videos I've watched, none have been disappointing, and this Yosemite NP is my favorite so far. If you'll excuse me, I have to start planning my first trip to Yosemite National Park . . .
Beautiful video! I visited Yosemite over the holidays and took several pictures at many of the locations you listed. It is a beautiful park, I plan to go back in the spring!
I have hiked Half Dome three times my average is 11.5 hours 6 liters of water. One of my favorite places to photograph. The view is also great from Glacier Point of the valley
Love your vids Mads.. super informative and we can feel your passion! Thank you! Even though this is in my backyard so to speak, I love that you identify your shooting locations (as many do not). Photographers should really support each other and you do this - again thank you!
Great story about your hike along the shipwreck coast for sunset pictures. I think sunsets and the rocky coast is the perfect match for great photos. I have Olympic Second Beach Sunset and hope to acquire other sunset pictures.
Amazing video! We are headed there in May this year, & I am soooo excited to photograph this beautiful place. I have no doubt that, like you, I will find my visit all too short & could easily spend months there to take photos. Cheers!
Wow...you did such a great job explaining what it is like visiting there for the first time! I live within a 4-hour drive from there - no excuse not to go back! Thanks for encouraging me to go back (often) :-) Beautiful video.
I live about 2-1/2 hours drive from Yosemite and have been there about 170 times over the years. This video does a good job of summarizing places to go and see some great views, but of course, there are many more. Something that I think should be corrected in your narration is that the river that flows through Yosemite Valley is the Merced River, which also flows over Vernal and Nevada Falls. The stream that flows over Yosemite Falls is Yosemite Creek, which flows into the Merced River. It seems like you could've included the view from Washburn Point in your video, since you drove past it on your way to Glacier Point. During the winter, the Glacier Point Road is closed by snow, but my twin brother and I have skied out to Glacier Point to get pictures almost 30 times. Anyway, keep up the good work!
Absolutely amazing! Could not have come across your well detailed videos soon enough. I am planning a trip to Moab for an outing to get away from the West last rain. You hit and highlighted all the spots I wish to go to and some that now are on my list not to miss list. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the US NP system and the surrounding areas. Thank you for sharing your recommendations for camera settings etc. Your videos are well edited and enjoyable, thank you so much for sharing.
Is there someone who is not an Ansel Adams fan? Hard to believe in a landscape photographer as Ansel is one of the key people who made landscape photography fine-arts worthy. Besides, his photos are gorgeous. You got a bunch of good ones also. When I was there I was overawed by the view and my photos showed it.
Fantastic. I grew up in CA and spent nearly every summer near Yosemite. You’ve inspired a return. Can you do a tutorial on those shots with massive stacks?
Great video! I'm always looking for advice & hints about the best spots and conditions to take pictures at our beautiful nation parks. This was very helpful. Keep it up!
Excellent video Mads! Can't wait for the next one. Your enthusiasm is infectious and your videos inspiring. I'm a Brit living in Canada close to the Rockies - let me know if you would like to visit. I like the longer video - keep up the good work! :-)
Thanks you Anton! Next one, next week ;) I'm happy you can see the enthusiasm! I might come by one day! I really want to go to British Columbia, Banff, Glacier Nat. Park.! I love the feeling of those places - so fresh and rough and epic - all at once! So much!
Another amazing video Mads. Definitely not too long, and so many inspiring photos. You did well to put your own spin on very well known shots. What's the best way to keep the foreground exposed enough but the sky not over exposed? Thanks :)
Thank you Flo! There's a lot of different ways to approach the problem. I prefer to bracket, other people, prefer to use graduated ND filters. Some even just underexpose and raise the shadows (requires a newer high-end camera, though). Hope this helps :)
More fantastic stuff, Mads. I found Yosemite challenging to come away with anything unique, especially with clear blue skies and limited time to get away from the main viewpoints. You've shown that it can be done though. It really does pay off to stay out late and get up early. Love your nighttime shots and that's definitely something I'm going to try myself! Any chance of any compositing tutorials down the road?
Amazing. Great info and beautiful photos. I'm on a Yosemite trip right now. I have to stay over two hours away in Clovis and so have a long drive just to get there each day, but it goes without saying that it's worth it. Am trying to figure out where to go the next couple of days. Have hit a few highlights like Tunnel View and Glacier Point so far. It's overwhelming the choices, and with so little time, difficult to decide without knowing the territory. :)
He Mads, Its not too long at all. Vids are only too long if they are no good!! This is good content, good narration, well choreographed and edited. Very Game of thrones! Awesome. Regards Ewan
Sure, I was in a nostalgic mood thinking about my recent trip to Yosemite with my Danish wife and kids. I was watching a video from another landscape photographer in Yosemite and your video appeared as a suggestion. I am glad that I clicked on it.
As a long-time film photographer who has been to/through Yosemite many times, I tend to dismiss landscapes taken digitally and subjected to heavy-handed manipulation, becoming posters of the unreal rather than photographs. I have to give you a tip of the hat and acknowledge that some of the "assembled" photos you show here are among the most interesting I have seen of Yosemite. You didn't miss anything by skipping the summer season. The mass of tourists, tour buses and trams clog the scenery and lifestyle, making photography in the Valley frustrating at best. In summer you have to vacate to the back-country, but that experience is little different from dozens of other locations.
i am awe-struck at the beauty of this place . and i must say you did justice to bring out its beauty . quick question tho, any tutorials on how you edit your photos ??
Thank you Ruzlan. Sorry for the late replay - was in the Faroe Islands. I have a few plans on making some tuts, but nothing specific yet. What would you like to learn?
wow! Faroe islands~ always wanted to go there. cant wait for that episode ;) And yes i would love to learn how you edit your photos and maintain your workflow :)
If you ever get back to Yosemite Valley, get a permit to camp on North Dome. It's across the valley from Half Dome, and you get views down several valleys, plus sunrise and sunset views that you can't get from the valley floor. Also, just after sunset, at least in the autumn, the entire face of Half Dome turns pink in the Alpenglow, and by November 1 or so, the night fog starts forming. There are many other stunning vistas along the John Muir Trail, with LeConte Canyon, Mt. Whitney and Evolution Basin. And if you hang out anywhere along Hiway 395 on the eastern side of the Sierra south of Mono Lake, you can catch the Sierra Wave, the lenticular clouds, and if you're lucky a "hole punch" cloud. I could spend a lifetime there.
I just got back from a workshop at Yosemite National Park. The photography instructor said that for optimal sharpness, the best Fstop is 7.1 (unless shooting long exposures). Do you find this to be true? I noticed that you used some Fstops of 2.8 and 5.6, so just curious of your opinion.
Hehe thanks Aritz! Happy you liked it ;) Would love to make longer videos in the future. And I have some ideas for some. But they do take a lot of work!
Hey Mads, great video, love them all by the way. I found my maiden Icelandic trip breathtaking a few months ago. But, seeing this video, is Yosemite even more breathtaking ?
Great video Mads (as always LOL) I feel your passion to do this work. So do I but like you said it is not a big money maker. Maybe one day when you are famous. I think it is good timing. Personally I would stick around 10 min. if that works for you.
Good to hear Clemens - yeah 10mins would be cool, but it's hard to make them this long without just saying all sorts of useless shait ;) But I'm very happy you feel the passion :)

They are very different but if I had only 1 choice it would be Iceland.......I think!
What's next for you Mads?
Still worth it nearly 6 years later! I'm planning a trip to Yosemite with my wife next summer and this is terrific. Thank you.
Thanks for loving our National Parks.
Awesome!!!! And is not a long video, it has a perfect video time!! Addictive!!!👌
Thanks so much Victor! I'll try to make longer videos in the future - but I want it to make sense. I'll not waste peoples time ;)
For sure you won't!!! 👌😉
Definitely one of Lovely place on the earth
Excellent work! I only live 200 KM from the park and hardly ever go anymore. You have inspired me to renew my love of the park.
That's so good to hear James! Yosemite is absolutely amazing!
It is beautiful place I was there in the late 70s I must go back one day. Love your style.
Thanks Bill - I'll really like to return too, which I might have shown in the video ;)
I only had two days there in the summer, one in the valley and one to the east side of the park, hiking the trail to Mono Pass. The east side of the park was not so busy, and still quite scenic. Lots of great pictures there, too.
" Kind of long " I don't think so. I was sad when this came to an end, could watch your stunning images of Yosemite for much longer. Thank you Mads.
Thanks a lot. Back then it was kind of long compared to what I did ;)
I go there on Monday, 4/1/19. Weather predicts thunderstorms, and a lot of rain! Good times! Thanks for the tips. Great video!
Exelent shots, Yosemite is a source of endless beauty.
Exageradamente bello, me quito el sombrero ante peter Iversen
As a Californian Yosemite is a top destination. The first time you look up at El Capitan and Half Dome your mind can hardly take in the enormity of the scale of these huge mountains. Jealous, amazed and inspired at the same time. If you ever come to UK or Netherlands let me know and I'll show you some locations
Thanks a lot Norman! I'll remember that. And you know you can just buy a plane ticket and fly to SF yourself and jump on a bus to Yosemite ;)
Best video of Yosemite I’ve ever seen.
As they say time is relative... so this video is not long at all (as in boring or a waste of time). You show so many beautiful places in the park and useful tips in such a logical way, it's really inspiring to watch and listen :) I would also love to spend a year there and explore the park in all seasons!
Thank you Nina, that's such a sweet comment! Very much appreciated. I'll do my best to make longer videos - as long as it makes sense ;)
Quick question, I have a Canon Rebel SL3, which has an APS-C sensor, and a kit 18-55mm lens. Do you know if ill be able to get a shot that can fit the all the mountains in? (My 18mm on my camera is equal to a 28.8mm on full-frame)

Thank you very much Kevin! I so want to go back myself too! Such feeling of freedom! :)
One of your best yet Mads ! I really like how your passion for landscapes comes across ! The viewer can't help but get inspired as it inspires you !
Thanks Joe. I'm happy I managed to transfer some emotions - working on my camera presence ;) How did you like the duration?
Mads Peter Iversen I thought it was just right ! There is loads to see there ! I felt you spoke about the highlights without going into too much detail, but enough to be informative ! With somewhere like Yosemite it would be easy to ramble as it's an incredible place !
Thanks Joe, yeah I actually had a bit of video from other locations, but I felt I needed to cut it down to keep the focus. Maybe I'll make a part 2 when I return some time in the future :)
Mads Peter Iversen that's a good idea ! Break it down ! That way the quality is high and the video flows well !!
Mads.. The quality of your content is par excellent ! Yosemite is one of those place I really enjoyed visiting and photographing. Please keep up the great work. Looking forward to more inspirational videos.
Thank you so much Bobin! Yes I as I said in the video I so want to go back - it's so insanely beautiful :) I'll surely keep it up :)
Thank you so much. Your photographs are amazing. Excellent video production as well. Thank you! Thank you! God bless
I'm retracing my trip to Yosemite with yours and love it.

Mads, your work is amazing. Your videos have inspired me to go to Iceland this Spring and back to Yosemite early Fall. Thank you.
Thanks a lot Will. I'm happy I can inspire you! :) When are you going?
Mads, I'll be there 26 May - 4 June. Any insight on the top places you'd visit on a 9 day itinerary?
Great introduction of the location for planning a trip to Yosemite NP. Thanks.
A must see for any human.
Loved this video. Taking my 4 grandsons to Yosemite in August and plan to show this video to the oldest (13) on Friday night to (hopefully) inspire him,
Oh I hope it will inspire him! Sounds so sweet! I'd love to hear how it went! :)
Love it Mads! This is your best video by far:) You can really see how passionate you are about landscape photography
Thank you so much - I'm happy you can see the passion ^_^
Very informative video and great work with pictures. Awesome work done. Thank you for sharing

Great video. Happy I watched it. Thanks!
Thanks a lot! I'm happy you liked it :)
Mads, you asked me which video I like the most: here it is! Simply awesome. Thank you so much for this terrific work. Yours Kai
I'm very happy to hear that! It's also the most complex video and the one I've put most work in to ;)

Thank you very much Steve. I could live in Yosemite, such wonderful place!
Beautiful and great tips
Fantastic video. The knowledge gained about locations is great. Thank you. Keep on keepin on.
You're very welcome Seth! Which one location do you find most interesting? :)
Mads Peter Iversen the valley view. I love the reflection off the water.
That is also a gorgeous location! :)
Great video. Thank your for this beautiful insight into your planning and shooting!
Thank you Albrecht! I'm happy you liked it and you're very welcome :)
Incredible video!! Congratulations!
Amazing video!!! Thanks so much!!
Fantastic, great video and images.
Thanks a lot Rune!
Great video! Never too long. Great information!
Thank you for your video. The data along with some of your shots really helps. Wish more would do the same.
Thanks a lot Brian! I'm happy you like it :)
Nice overview Mads. Heading to Yosemite in a few weeks and this was helpful.
You're very welcome, good luck! :)
Great story about your hike along the shipwreck coast for sunset pictures. I think sunsets and the rocky coast is the perfect match for great photos. I have Olympic Second Beach Sunset and hope to acquire other sunset pictures.
love the night shots. excellent work.
Thank you very much Ryan! Means a lot :)
Great photos and nice presentation

Thanks Shawn! I'm jealous! You'll definitely be in for a treat! Will it b the first time?
Very informative! I'm going to try to recreate your shots :) thanks for the inspiration! Well done!
You're much welcome, Paula! Try make something new from the same place ;)
Wow...you did such a great job explaining what it is like visiting there for the first time! I live within a 4-hour drive from there - no excuse not to go back! Thanks for encouraging me to go back (often) :-) Beautiful video.
You are very welcome and thanks a lot :)
great video, very helpful !
Thanks and you're welcome :)
Really, really great video. So informative and captivating! Extremely well put together. You've earned a new subscriber!
Fantastic.
Thought your Icelandic videos are great, however these USA ones are becoming outstanding keep it up. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for all the information and kind words. Yes, I could have included way more. Sadly time was a limiting factor :)
Another great one
Thank you, much appreciated :)
Amazing work Mads. Keep it up.
What a great video! I love the way you talk about the beauty of it. Subscribed :)
Absolutely amazing! Could not have come across your well detailed videos soon enough. I am planning a trip to Moab for an outing to get away from the West last rain. keep uploading awesome stuff.
Thanks I will :)
Very well done, Mads! Was visiting Yosemite in the summer and have to admit it is one of the most beautiful places on planet earth!
Thanks for the inspiration! - I am heading to Yosemite tomorrow.! :-)

Mads Peter Iversen :-) Absolutely! We live close to Banff and Lake Louise.
Awww, that sounds fantastic Anton! I would be outside all the time if I had that in my backyard :)
Mads Peter Iversen We try to get out there as much as possible, but work sometimes gets in the way. :-)
Ah yeah... that good old bugger... Well I quit my job to do this, but have to make a few side-jobs to pay the bills ;)
I agreed with this. I loved it there but I am old and in no shape to go back there.
Well done mate, I am inspired!
HAha fantastic! Then it works! :)
Very talented! Keep it up
Thanks a lot Matthew, much appreciated :)
Another amazing video Mads. Definitely not too long, and so many inspiring photos. You did well to put your own spin on very well known shots. What's the best way to keep the foreground exposed enough but the sky not over exposed? Thanks :)

Good to hear that! :)

Hello Mads! I just discovered your channel and I look forward to watching more of your videos. I think your photos are amazing. Rødgrød med fløde. ;)
Haha! Perfect pronounciation! Happy you found it, may I ask how? :) Welcome aboard :)

Thank you very much for all these tips Eric! I totally follow you there! Living in Yosemite would be the dream!
Hej Mads Peter, super god video. Hvad hedder stedet hvor du har taget billedet på 11.44 ?
Tak :) Den hedder Mirror Lake ;)
I just got back from a workshop at Yosemite National Park. The photography instructor said that for optimal sharpness, the best Fstop is 7.1 (unless shooting long exposures). Do you find this to be true? I noticed that you used some Fstops of 2.8 and 5.6, so just curious of your opinion.
Depends on the lens and camera system. Check my recent video about finding the best aperture :)
You meant long? No way, so much beauty in this video, it was too short :)
Amazing work Mads.
Hehe thanks Aritz! Happy you liked it ;) Would love to make longer videos in the future. And I have some ideas for some. But they do take a lot of work!
Amazing
Thanks Ashhad - seen my other videos?
Yes i have seen some of them and they were amazing.
Thanks!
Hey Mads, great video, love them all by the way. I found my maiden Icelandic trip breathtaking a few months ago. But, seeing this video, is Yosemite even more breathtaking ?
Thanks Frederic. I wouldn't compare them - they have different strengths and vibes :) But you'll definitely enjoy Yosemite if you enjoyed Iceland.
