  • Hi everybody! I'm so happy to finally be planting my Lisianthus. The varieties I'm planting are Roseanne Greene, Corelli 2 White, and Advantage Cherry Sorbet.

    Just learning about lisianthus --love watching this and the detail about the roots growing down! Wow--4-5 weeks from last frost? So planting is VERY early! At the end you mention its 30 degrees. So these babies survive that! Crazy! You said they "don't like to get wet" and you covered them. But are they more rain tolerant as older plants? They obviously have to have SOME water.We are in NW Oregon and it is dry all summer but spring we have LOTS of rain.

    WOW, you go girl!! Even with a flashlight making sure your beautiful flowers are all planted on the same day!! Lots of hard work but so many blessings are given and shared when you harvest and sale them at the Farmer's Market!! :) You are very knowledgeable in what does best and when in our area! Have a great day and weekend!!

    That's great planting in the dark! I often do this too haha, because I can get the most done after the kids go to bed.

      @@freshcutflowerfarm It looked like it. We have a coyote problem, so "peaceful" isn't always the word I'd use when being outside in the dark by myself haha. I am skittish.

    Thank you for sharing. When did you start the seeds to germinate (date)? Time from planting seeds to removal to outside?

    Awesome!!! I love this. Thank you! I’m hardening some off to plant out this weekend. I grew about 200 from seed starting in January. I would not suggest doing that for larger quantities as they would take up precious grow light real estate. It was fun though!!! They start so tiny😍.

      I’m going to have try my hand at starting them from seed but I’m not sure I have the patience. 🙂

      @@freshcutflowerfarm I loved it. The challenge and seeing them grow (and not die 🤣) we’re worth it. I suppose you could succession plant with supplied plugs. Group 1 sow and group 2,3 order 🤷🏼‍♀️?

    • @freshcutflowerfarm
      @freshcutflowerfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to Dave Dowling, you can plant them all at the same time. They’re programmed to bloom under specific conditions not necessarily X amount of days after planting.

    Great video - will you cover them just for rain or when it dips below a certain temp too????? I have about 200 growing from seed and about 50 or so could be planted out in the next few weeks. I'm zone 7b/8a and we had frost last year the last week of April so I'm debating if I should put them out or just wait till May 1. They have roots but are not root bound as I stepped them up to much bigger cells when they got double leaves. Getting some from Farmer Bailey as well the beginning of June since I have a long growing season here but I had to see if I could actually grow any from seed and I'm pleased with them so far!

      They’re hardy down to zone 7 so I shouldn’t have to cover them for temps. I’ll probably cover anytime we’re expecting a lot of rain. I know you want to harvest blooms before they get wet.

    I ordered plugs from farmer Bailey and didn't even pay attention to the numbers....lol...next year I will try to get them in a 1 2 3 variety for better succession of blooms...

    HOw did your lisies end up producing last yr - were these seedlings pre-treated with Root Shield, or do you not find fusarium an issue in your area with these flowers?
