You're me feel so confident starting lisianthus for the first time. I've learned soooooo much from you. And may i say what a cutie pie you are. Flower farming has changed my life. I gave up my 30 year landscape business to do this and you are
My inspiration to make the change

I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Aw, your planting on the coldest day we have experienced.wheee I love... And I needed to see this today!! I was planning my garden earlier and it was a struggle and wanted to cry. In August '21 my garden and my house were completely flooded... Last Spring my husband and I out so much work into the garden and finances building beds, amending the soil.. it was A LOT. And this year to have to do it all AGAIN. I am pushing forward tho, because I have a dream. This year I am focusing on flowers in hopes to make to some extra cash out of something I LOVE.

Lissies are for sure the slowest flowers to grow! I've sown them in February last year. Just a few for fun. They grew steady but slow. I had flowers in July and decided to try harvesting seeds from them. Two weeks ago, the seeds still weren't ripe. So I cut the stems, entered them into my home and dried the pods. I just harvested the seeds! They look well, but They are the tiniest of seeds and there were thousands of them in each pod 🤩. I'm going to sow them this week, hope they are fertile. If not: it was a fun experiment 😆

zone 7..I started mine in Oct/Nov in jugs and left them alone and they're doing wonderfully. The ones I started indoors got moldy because my soil was too wet and the room was too warm. I know jugs aren't feasible for someone growing on a large scale like you are, but for home gardeners, try the winter sowing method in jugs.

What am I doing wrong? I sowed my lisianthus seeds the day I received them, April 23rd and I still haven’t seen any signs of germination. They’re on a heat mat and they haven’t dried out, I spray the top. I did lightly cover them with vermiculite. My package said they take 7-15 days to germinate, and germation guaranteed 50% or higher. Yours are doing so well! I’m not giving up. Next year I’ll start earlier and I’ll order from Johnnies .

Entertaining video. I don't know much about starting seeds so very informative. I think the song you started humming before the dog interrupted was the song from Dirty Dancing. The camp song at the end. Did I get that right? :)

I must have done something wrong. I planted mine 3 weeks ago and not a sign of life yet. It's frustrating, but Happy New Year!

Have you ever heard of using chicken grit lightly on top . I was told it keeps bugs and fungus away?

I'm starting lisianthus for the first time this year on the Wa/Id border. I've always been intimidated but watching you the last couple of years has given me a bit of confidence. Just bought my heat mats and they're on their way but in the mean time....and I know you'll laugh....I've got my pepper seeds germinating on a solar cover on top of my hot tub that is located in the house. "if it fits, it sits apparently doesn't always have to apply to cats. It's worked so far. Can't wait to see your garden this year!

Hi Nicole I'm from India. I saw lisianthus for the first time on your channel. Then I searched about them on the net and now I'm growing them in my garden. I wasn't sure of the temperature required but sowed the seeds in nov. I have 4 germinated and doing well. I'm looking forward to see how they perform so that I can add more colours next year.

I planted some 3 weeks ago, as far as I can tell not one is coming up. I meant to only plant half of them however, they are so tiny that didn't happen. I hope the absolute best success for everyone planting lisianthus seeds. Take care and enjoy.

Check out a seeding wand, so much cheaper and different tips allow you to use with different seed sizes

I personally found that using a fan was much better at preventing algae. You need to water them more often but worked out better for me.
I too found it a bit risky with the vermiculite getting in the way and sucking up water.

I did this 2 weeks ago, using Jonny’s seed, none of them came out, may be too dry?

Currently down with the sickness 😷 which when I said I wanted to stay home and work on the farm, this is not what I meant. 🤦‍♀️ I'm glad I get enjoy all the flower content I want while I'm down though.

I saved seeds from some lisianthus I bought. All my seedlings died one at a time throughout their 3 month life. I'm still not sure if I will start them this year or not.
