My opinion only. Unlike infrastructure, where the effect is immediately noticed and felt by the voting population while the politician is still in office, education reforms are felt only after a generation has passed. Any reform will be felt after the politician has already finished his term of office.

This is refreshing. Mga kabataan na nagtitipon to talk about societal issues. Super sawa na ako sa mga matatandang nagsasabing do this, do that and our economy will be great when in fact, they poisoned us and keep poisoning us. Gaslighting us to believe its our fault, or its not for them to lift the economy when its their job!
More contents like this please. We need to hear our fellow kabataan speak out.

Before AFP made military supply like bullets, howitzers bullets now puro import ma's madali pera sa purchase kasi yon ang masaklap
We export rice big-time ngayon nangunguna sa importation. Ng rice, Coal, Pork, Beef, Chicken sad truth

I agree. However, the keys are headed by the following people
Policies - senators like robin and cynthia who are more focused in defending quiboloy. People prefer voting for celebrities and famous people when there are a lot of deserving people who have genuine purpose and well versed with laws.
Energy - probably Marcos cronies but I don’t want to judge quickly on his work.
Education - headed by the VP herself who’s caught with confidential funds and defended quiboloy but silent with west PH sea issue. Her family dynasty are now fighting the current admin since they’re not benefiting with ICC and other investigations on their family. The head should be a qualified leader who have background so she will have the empathy on what to improve in our current system.

If you want to know if a country is on the right track in terms of economy then GDP, GDP per capital, and GINI coefficient can help give us a broad idea of what's happening. Well done to this interview for being able to explain that GDP doesn't necessarily mean prosperity. Income inequality is also important especially in trying to understand the country's economic journey.

  • @sidc.3817

Add production capacity to that economy, you can easily and significantly reduce unemployment and poverty levels. Consider the people below the poverty line as severely under utilized labor, which could be redirected to staffing production facilities like Steel Mills, Metal Forges, Assembly Lines etc. The economic problems in the country is self inflicted. The Government is over focused on producing Service oriented citizens....Tourism, BPOs, OFWs, etc. Imagine if the Government self invested into 1 or 2 steel mills to produce steel products other than rebars and corrugated steel roofings.... then self invested in a national ship building program for Mass Transit and Defense....and/or self invested in archipelagic railways with transfer of technology for locomotive and cabin manufacturing...local utility of produced products can more easily convert into export products given some time...basically the Philippines needs to export higher technology products rather than solely its own citizens as OFWs or its banana and mango products...

@@RañoSarsešcingCracosséatPedrez By your argument, Walmart or Costco or Intel should be building ships too....these are big global companies too btw...why aren't they manufacturing cars and planes? -- Because there's this thing called Core Competencies/Values that justify a company's existence.
The point still stands: The only way to a better economy is through gearing the country for more production over consumption (service included in consumption). Value add comes from optimizing or overhauling what exists.

Apparently, infrastructure development primarily catered sa private car use (ex. skyways, flyovers, and expressways) could be detrimental in the long run. With this kind of so-called development, mas magiging convenient ang paggamit ng private vehicles; therefore, bibili ang karamihan ng sasakyan, which will ultimately cause heavy traffic in our cities. And, as we all know, the country incurs significant economic losses due to traffic, and not to mention pa rito yung effects sa quality of life ng karamihan.
Notably, this very point is not tackled upon sa mga discussion about decongestion of Metro Manila; many would suggest na i-spread ang development sa ibang cities, which is an idea that should be welcomed. However, if hindi isasama ang mass transportation sa equation, mararanasan lang din ng ibang cities yung problema ng traffic gaya sa MM, which is actually happening na rin somehow sa Greater Manila Area (Aguinaldo Highway, I'm looking at you!).
edit: As I was watching the video, inexplain na pala ni Sir JC Punongbayan yung puntong nais kong iparating around the 24 minute mark.

We could've build efficient infrastructures that'll build an economy if only Politicians learn how to embrace the science and data rather than thinking about the elections, kung may masasagasaan na na makakaapekto ng votes nila or padrino, di na matutuloy even if makakabuti naman ito sa lahat.

About Agriculture? We need to invest in irrigation for rice industry. We only plant & harvest twice a year. We could have planted/harvest trice if we can plant even in summer. Our creeks & rivers do not dry even in summer, but we can not do so because our farmers could not pump it. We need to have pumps for individual farmers which do not need gasoline/diesel; a transportable solar pump to distributed to farmers. I know our Dept of Agriculture is distributing gasoline-feed pumps. But, this could have been outstanding if they would invest, or distribute in transportable solar pump. It would not cost that much for a 2kw solar panel/inverter/submersible pump set-up which can be drawn by a carabao in a welded/wheeled cart. Also, the government should not anymore allow rice mills to operate if those rice mill operator will not invest in industrial palay drying equipment which can be fueled by rice hulls, with the financial assistance from gov't.

Para makita talaga how our educational system fare against other nation's educational system.

Kanino ba under itong mga school? Sino ba karapat-dapat manghingi ng confidential funds? Who is the DepEd Secretary again?

Jollibee meal abroad with foreign prices is 1% of the minimum daily wage.
That is why every Filipino should flee the sinking ship that is the Philippines.
