Thank You for this very professional Review of two exciting sportscars. I own one MX5 ND 2 RF, too, and enjoy every single ride and won't miss ist anymore.
This is EXACTLY what I needed! I'm trying to decide between the two cars right now, and obsessed over the decision. I think I will go with the BRZ now, since they are about equal overall, but the BRZ is much cheaper.
Brz is for sure the better only car solution but this being the twilight generation for ICE NA sportscars i cant help but think the Miata is the more special car and a surefire future classic.
BRZ is the better daily driver. I just sold my RF GT Mazda and loved the car. Just no room at all. My new BRZ TS is the better daily driver. Room to move and store stuff.
Im going to test drive the 24 nd3 and the brz ts. Let’s see what I pick. Never owned a convertible so leaning towards the Miata. Plus living in sunny Florida
At 45k for Miata, I would upgrade to supra instead different category. I love my 2023 BRZ, only paid 31k for a Limited. I have it as a daily and my 2016 981 boxster gts for weekend. Big fan of boxster engines with low center of gravity. BRZ has its issues so it does need some tweaking: adjusted clutch pedal to have less dead space, added pedal commander( for more throttle opening), added oil pressure and temp gauges to monitor, and other little things.
You should consider the GR86 versus the BRZ. The suspension on the GR86 is a bit different than the BRZ's so it ends up a bit stiffer - it would be somewhere between the Miata and BRZ as far as ride comfort. And yeah, I didn't like the extra engine sound in my first-gen (2016) BRZ so I removed the sound generator pipe and plugged the holes in the engine intake and cabin. That's the only mod I've done.
I have a daily MT NC2 Miata. I would not change it for anything. It's addictive, fun, and you can put the hardtop fully down with the roll bar installed. I owned two modified wrx[s], and while i loved them, I completely adore my Miata. It feels special all of the time. I love how the ND looks, but the NC is just a bit more comfortable.
Only an issue on tracks with long sweeping right handers. Only in high end 70k+ have baffled oil sumps. Even the only 6 GR86’s & 2 BRZ have lost an engine. Subaru has given 0 issues replacing under warranty. Toyota not so smooth to get it under warranty. Look how many Hyundai N cars who pop their engines…
@@MachMotorsport well, 86 engine fails on track, mx5 trans fails randomly. Mx5 is a brilliant car tho, better than the 86 in terms of driving, but i will take more spaces in the 86 as the only car
"Average size" Porkchops! :). The Portuguese and Brazilians will get that joke. Great video. The MEEAHHHTA has a superior drivetrain and reliability. I love those Miatas even though I own a S2000.
Both are great remove the brz storage space and the soft top on the miata and the miata has better engine sound, less weight, the 86 has great out of box sliding ability and leas body roll and more sporting
I have the BRZ, but I like the looks of the Miata a little more. I'm guessing they're both fun to drive. I can fit two folding kayaks and gear in the BRZ. Myself plus two small adults when needed.
Pricing wise your comparison is flawed, the ND starts at 28K USD add the RF, Brembo and body trim yes you get to 50K, I am not sure about the various packages with the BRZ, but as stated your sons sounds like its bare bones compared to your ND which is dressed for the prom. I like the look of the RF, but the rag top is the only way to go...... BRZ doesn't offer that option
The clutch is heavy? One of the biggest complains about the gen 2 BRZ is the clutch being too light and people end up replacing the clutch spring. I am heavily considering replacing the spring in my 23 BRZ. I can only imagine how light the Miata's clutch must be. I am 6'3" 220lbs, and never even test drove a Miata as it is pointless for someone my size.
I owned the GR86 and currently own a Miata. It's not that the GR86/BRZ clutch was too light, it's that the bite point was too vague. I changed the clutch spring on the GR86. Miata is light, but never had issues with the bite point
I'm 6'3" and 250lbs and I test drove the ND. Less room than NC. I technically fit but I think I might tire of it if I owned it. Feels like the shifter is too close (rearward) and I have to have my arm scooched back. Claustrophobic, but when the top comes down all is right with the world! I think I'm going with a BRZ for the daily livability and the fun is right there whenever you want it.
Alright, stop it right there with that MY-AHH-TA nonsense! We give special dispensations for being Canadian but your using them all up! Edit: Great info from an owner's prospective, thanks!
Bruh fake exhaust noises that’s so lame but I’m sure it’s easy to turn off hopefully and the Miata seats for a long time leave a lot to be desired especially with lumbar support but as always the Miata is never a practical car but that’s why I love it 😻 brz are dope but I prefer Mazdas driving experience like you said I’ve heard the acceleration isn’t as exciting in the brz and that the gear box in the older version were a bit iffy
The mx5 has quality interior for people who likes to feel like they driving a luxury car and the brz/gr86 has the interior of old school 90s jdm sports car which I prefer that’s why I pick the gr86 I don’t really like the mx5 soft touch overly designed interior the gr86 is so simple
I can't believe how many videos there are about a car that has a backseat FYI the Mazda Miata is a two seat car and has been for a very long time there is no backseat or storage it is a tiny car this is not news . A 2+2 has two little tiny backseats you can put children and animals in it or unhappy adults and it will suffer performance at the benefit of practicality this is not news either You can also buy a WRX or an STI and put adults in it and suffer even more performance and get even more practicality all the way up to a school bus

This is really quite awesomely done. Keep it up
But what’s negative camber and what’s it like
This is EXACTLY what I needed! I'm trying to decide between the two cars right now, and obsessed over the decision. I think I will go with the BRZ now, since they are about equal overall, but the BRZ is much cheaper.

I completely agree with this
I think they’ll both be classics
You can have the dealer turn off the exhaust note. Or you can unplug it on the passenger side dash panel
Thanks for your review and information 👍 ❤
Simple, can you put the top down on the BRZ?
I don't think so, u can only put the windows down & open the sunroof
@@mrgarrison3516 no sunroof
@@30hours51

@@robertoamaya1265 no not yet. Won’t be ready til end of May. Just seen the 2024 gr86 trueno in red and that looks really nice. Didn’t drive it tho
BRZ/86 is more practical as a daily. But I like both cars, they both have fans and its understandable as to why.
In a year or two I'd love to get a Miata RF, but at 10k more for a similarly spec'd car, I don't think I'll be able to justify it over the Subie.
Would you consider a pre-owned ND1? They should be pretty affordable and similar in price

Right on!
and don't forget about the oil pressure problems with that engine of the BRZ. I've seen quite few videos of those engines smoking on the track.

same thing can be said about the transmission issue with the mx5
@@30hours51 True, but I haven’t heard of one denied under warranty and if I’m stuck with the bill, the transmission is much cheaper than an engine.

I'm wondering why you offset the plates like that?
Just don’t want to drill into the bumpers. Utilizing the factory tow hook locations for plate frames

Why does he say MYAtta? Is that a Canadian thing?
I believe it's his thing because he says "my".
BRZ/86 is a proper entry level sports car, Miata is a cute city car and is slower than BRZ/86 even the one with the bigger engine.

Longer wheelbase for better DD
the wheel base difference is almost negligible between these two. the way the Miatas suspension is set up its far better for daily driving.
