did u know the reason he licked his lips was because the prosthetics for the scar on his lip kept peeling off, so he licked it so he wouldn’t have to keep getting it re glued, and then slowly it just became apart of the character

Don't forget Frank Archer from Fullmetal Alchemist, Excalibur from Soul Eater, Jin Karia from Bleach, and Yahiko/Tendo Pain from Naruto.
Heath made his portrayal of The Joker his own. It was great because it was different. It was more of a "if The Joker were a real person" adaptation of the him. But Hamill's voice captures the personality from the comics the best and that's the one I'll always prefer. I don't see why there has to be a rivalry between the 2. Both are perfect in their own way.

Heath Ledger did it great for making it his own. That's the only thing I loved in the Dark Knight Trilogy. I didn't like Baan Begins or The Dark Knight Rises. just The Dark Knight.
I think there hasn't been a bad Joker, all of them are great, from live action actors to voice actors, all of them have done a great job in their own version of the character.

I love Mark Hamill but like dude... Heath Ledger’s joker is so much better
Hammill's portrayal works because its focused on the eccentric joker in the comics. Ledgers works because all of the eccentric over the top bits were strippes away just leaving charisma and psychosis. Leto's doesn't work because they tried to combine those two things and it made the character weak as it tried to straddle to very different worlds.

With only three words, Mark Hamill demonstrates why he was so effective as The Joker:
The aggressive sharpness on the word "why", the aristocratic sound of the vowel in "so", followed by the playful and genuinely curious inflection on "serious?" encapsulate everything that makes his interpretation of The Joker so memorable. He didn't have to think about the delivery, it intuitively sprung from his deep familiarity with the character, and in a couple seconds he embodied a demented genius that takes great joy in his evil, and knows that he's probably smarter than you are.

Hamill helped make the Joker great. It's the great actors and storytellers that make the character great. The character alone is garbage.
Think about it; a clown that kills. It's super cliche. But the people who poured their lives and careers into Batman and his villains really elevated Joker to cultural icon status.

Mark Hamill, unsurprisingly, nailed why Heath's Joker was so damn unique but so damn good. The one word he used to describe it in particular, "joyless". I never realized it but that's why he was so good. The Joker, simply by name, makes one expect someone full of joy and humor, but in the Dark Knight, while he had a sense of humor, there was no joy left in him. He was clearly just a man, as opposed to other Jokers, who seem like they aren't really part of the human species.
Mark Hamil is the best Joker, if you only judge them by the voice. Both Niccolosons and Ledger get higher approval from me because they just acted so well, but Hamil and Conroy have, in my mind, the prestigious distinction of being the only 2 voice actors who do their role SO WELL, that they hold up to the live action versions. It amazes me that Hamil, just as an off the cuff joke, does 3 words, and sends fangasms through every person listening. Lets put it like this. Everything a casual fan associates with the Joker is Hamil's. When I asked all my friends to do a Joker laugh, all of theirs resembled the one Hamil did. The Batssss with the extreme emphasis on the s, all of the things that have become integral to the Jokers vocal identity. Also, Hamils Joker in the Arkham games has the additional distinction of a role so effectively portrayed, it is cinema quality. Hamid is and will always be my favorite Joker

Mark Hamil was the best animated joker but Heath is the best live action joker and its practically impossible to say one is better than the other given that Hamil portrays the comic joker better while Heath was better at portraying the darker version of joker.

This man, such a gold heart, such love for his fans and we love him as much. Not many people become such an iconic figure. He never imposes, always wants to know about how we find his plays, and if people knew how hard he tried to save Star Wars from the pool of shit they were headed. IMO Heath Ledger's Joker is superior to all the rest as far as on screen performances go but Mark Hamill's Joker voice is the best ever!.
He doesn't miss a beat once the fan suggests a specific line.
The way Mark answered that tasteless question (considering how recent Heath's death was at that point) was SO warm, reverent and full of respect.

Heaths Joker is arguably the best in cinema, but Matt Hamil is my favourite Joker voice. Especially in the Arkham Games. Beautifully done.
What a classy guy and great performer?! Just gives the people what they want on the spot, that's true showmanship. Thoughtful stuff about Ledger as well. Mark Hamill just became a little cooler in my mind, which I didn't think was possible.
I wonder ehat kind of roled Mr Hamill would have taken had he not sustained an injury. It's weird that he couldn't even find roles that had few physical specifications or didn't require good looks. He's a very good actor. It's just so sad he's not in more movies.
I liked Hamill's and Ledger's interpretations for different reasons. Mark was amazing at producing an insane comical flirty joker, while Heath provided a serious and realistic take on the joker.

The guy who requested it was too nervious, if he hadn't being like that we could have saved a couple seconds, but even if someone says "Mark was just being nice flatterying the people working in the Dark knight", I like his opinion on Heath's take on the Joker.

Among fans, there tends to be a lot of "competition" or argumentation about why someone is better than someone else.
In contrast, I really loved seeing Hamill show such respect for Ledger. I, personally, found both to be tremendous, iconic performances, and I prefer to avoid arguments about who is "better".
