      So glad you enjoyed! My go to is funny bunny by opi for a milky white, but I also love the color “bride to be” by the brand perfect match! It’s more of a coconut milky white! I actually have it on my nails right now!! If you have an Instagram, you can send me a DM and I will send you a photo of my current nails!

      @@GinaMarieBrescia Thanks for the ideas, will check out instagram soon and the brand. I've been using an inexpensive brand and have had lots of chipping so thinking it may be the quality of the powder, I use OPI base and activator but a cheaper powder. Anxious to try something better. Again thanks for the quick response!

    Best video thus far I have found ! 3 questions. Have you used sns if so which do you like better ? Also how long does it last you ? Have you ever only done 2 coats of powder all over without using clear dip ?

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much!! Yes I have used the SNS dipping system and the only reason why I prefer the OPI dipping System is because I find the manicure lasts longer! However, if you would like to use a different brand color powder (like the SNS brand)you can use it in the same way I used the OPI color powder! I have used before all of the OPI polishes & OPI clear set powder in conjunction with an SNS color! It works just fine. The key is keeping the same order of steps. I have not done this process without the clear set powder so I am not sure if it will work or not! My manicure lasts a good 2 1/2-3 weeks! I could honestly go longer but I get bored of the color😂 let me know if you have any other questions💕

    Love your tutorial. I do have a problem with a couple of nails lifting from the cuticle before I’m ready to put on a new set. I used alcohol to clean the beds before applying. My skin is very dry. Any suggestions to keep the nails secure?

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m so glad you loved the tutorial! The only thing I can say is to make sure you are pushing your cuticles back far enough, that the dip powder is not touching them at all. When the dip powder adheres to the cuticle, it makes them lift easier and faster. Thoroughly make sure you are applying the base coat to only your nail and not allowing it to touch any skin or cuticles!

    Thanks for making this video Gina! Quick question: I have a UV shellac lamp at home, should I be using my lamp to dry dip too? Would you happen to know if that would speed up the drying process/ if it even works at all? Thank you!!

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoyed! A UV shellac lamp is not necessary to dry the dip manicure and it actually wouldn’t even made a difference in the drying process! The ingredients in the dipping system does not react to the UV light. Let me know if you have any other questions 💗

      A uv light isn’t needed for this process, and I believe it won’t do anything to help speed up the drying process! The good thing is, the nails dry relatively quickly! Way faster than regular polish! To be safe I give myself 10-15 min without touching anything, but it ultimately does dry within about 5 min! ♥️

      Thank you so much! I have not tried this method without the clear coat. In my opinion the clear set powder almost protects the color layers & acts as a harder along with the activator. I would definitely recommend including the clear set powder if you want a longer lasting, smooth manicure! Yes! I haven’t used drills for years! It completely ruined my nails in the past! My removing method takes the dip powder off so easily and damage free!

    Thank you for this video . It helped me a lot. As your advise , I used base coat as a top coat, the first couple minutes looks beautiful and shiny but after couple more minutes it’s not like before ... I don’t know how to explain the look . Some part shiny , some part faded ...
    It takes forever to get dry ! I end it up to wait for 20 minutes to do the second top coat ( base coat )
    but still , I did not get the same as your result . By the way, I polished A LOT and made it as smooth as possible since I noticed that’s part of my problem ( before top coat)
    How long I have to wait to get dry after each top coat ( using base coat )?

    One is to remove out the nail dip. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
    The second is to keep my nail brushes clean, so they are not smooth enough to apply the base correctly 🤔 do you have any tip?

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad you enjoyed!♥️ What is the problem you are having with removing the dip? And sometimes the nail polish brush gets a little bit hard and stiff which will lead to the polish not going on smooth or even. When this happens to me, I will just close the nail polish bottle and let it sit for about 10 minutes without opening the bottle. This usually allows the bristles to soften and solves the stiffness issue. Is that the problem you are referring to?

    • @maguylohrengel5088
      @maguylohrengel5088 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gina, I am French so my English is not so good. Thank you for the answer. I did exactly what you are saying to remove the dip. After 30 mn, nothing happened, Impossible to remove it. It took me a lot of time and patience till I got my nails clean. I used the bond aid from opi first. Could it be the reason??
      The second problem was really that my brush (for the base) got so hard that I couldn't use it, and I could even not close the bottle. So I bought another bottle of base to get a clean brush and now it works. I will try to do as you said, thank you so much for the help !!

      Mel TN it's a brilliant idea to just kind of creating a strong base. never thought of it that way.

    Great video! Do I need the clear set to harden or does it just add gloss so I don't need a gel UV light?

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Aleia! Thank you♥️ & I believe the activator is what hardens everything. I am not certain that the clear set powder is necessary, but I believe it does act as a sealer because it is the last layer of powder over the color powder layers. However, I have not tried doing this without the clear set powder so I don’t know if it’s a necessary step or not! I’ve always used it and when I got my nails done years ago in the salon they used it every time! The opi base coat that I use as the “top coat” is what adds gloss at the end! There is no UV gel light needed for this process at all! Let me know if this helped and if you have any other questions 😘

    • @MsDocJess
      @MsDocJess 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course you can! Just make sure that there's no residue, powder/whatsoever on the nails before getting your gel top coat. The activated powder can clog up your gel polish brush pretty fast when you don't clean it thoroughly after the nails are ready.

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try wiping it on a lint free wipe! What I also do is just leave the brush in the bottle for a good 10 minutes and it usually softens the brush bristles up a bit! Deff make sure in the future the activator dries completely before going in with the base coat! It happens to me also😫 hope this helps!

      Hi Gail! I personally put the base coat at the end because I use it as a top coat. In past experiences when I used the actual OPI topcoat, my nails would turn out lumpy and thick. So I have been using the base coat as the top coat for years and my nails turn out perfect every time!

    I don't know if I prefer using shellac or acrylic. I've never done dip nails but it seems less harmful than acrylic nails! The only thing keeping me from getting acrylic again is that for the past year I have taken vitamins for skin and nails and my natural nail has gotten so healthy and strong that I do not want it to become thin or brittle again like it usually happens after acrylic :/

    • @linalora3688

      Gina Marie sometimes it’s difficult to notice. Is it the side with the numbers or the plain side? Also 100 grit is best to use to file
      Down the nail when it’s thick right ?

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So on my specific nail file, the side without the writing is the side with 100 grit which is the rougher side. Yes, when you are all finished with your powder layers, and have applied your first coat of activator, you can go ahead and use the file and run it along the top of your nail if it came out too thick. Hope this helps💕

      Is it possible to reverse the thickness of the polish? Does anyone else have trouble with it not drying?

    • @GinaMarieBrescia
      @GinaMarieBrescia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your using the OPI brand base coat as the “top coat” it should 100% dry fully within 10-15 mins top. I’ve never had a problem with the drying issue. For the goopy problem, try leaving the brush in the bottle for a bit, it should loosen up. Sometimes it goops together when it’s out of the bottle too long, or there is cross contamination with the activator. Hope this helps💗
