I absolutely love the reports from this guy, whether its 3 minutes or 30 minutes. He breaks it down in such a manner that everyone can understand it. I remember playing a video of his last month about the differences between El Nino and La Nina and I had family members coming over to my laptop to watch it, they were so intrigued. Keep up the great work!!
Those water vapor images are such a help in seeing what’s coming our way. Meteorology has advanced so much in my lifetime, this is just one example (I’m 64). Great forecast discussion, Darren.
Many years the Bay Area has zero rain before Thanksgiving. Rain "up to this point" is a useless "average" to look at. Look at averages for the entire rain season, not merely rain before Thanksgiving.
These storms are coming specifically in drought stricken areas. Edit: I meant areas labeled with yellow or worse on the drought monitor. So abnormally dry or worse
Great weatherman, and great delivery of the information. I’m located inland from the Bay, so it looks like all we’ll see is a few, sporadic light showers, if even that, over Monday and Tuesday.
Where will CA next geoengineered river be heading? Any chances it'll be right in line with all the areas where State sponsored fires over the past few years have been?
Did the central coast, San Luis Obispo, 5 cities, Morro Bay and the rest fall off the map? I'm looking for info of my part of Cali but no one acknowledges that it exists. If we aren't getting rained on say that and move on, but the map doesnt stop at San Jose. Between this stupid terminology and wiping out the center of the state I get nothing to use in preparing. Not scared just want to know if i need more batteries. This tells me nothing useful.
These news stations are losing their credibility using stupid terms like “Atmospheric River”. It’s simply a storm that will bring little to a lot of rain in different places.
no, they aren't. Before "atmospheric river" they used to call it "Pineapple Express." Do you really think "bomb cyclone" is a reference to a bomb? Because it's shorthand for 'Bombogenesis' which references a rapidly intensifying low pressure system.
except the calculated amount of water in the atmosphere with these storms is equivalent, if not more, than a river, especially when condensed into rain fall. They used to call it "Pineapple Express" because it was a moisture feed coming from the rough location of Hawaii.
Please people. Stop this hype with buzzwords of atmospheric rivers and bomb cyclones. Whatever happened to a “strong storm front “? It’s all scare tactics by the greenies.
It's all about finding the words that attract the most views for the advertisers. Bomb cyclone does that better than "strong storm front". They also used to use "tropical storm" or "arctic storm"
Not every strong storm drops 24 millibars of atmospheric pressure in a 24 hour period nor does every ‘strong storm’ dump 20 inches of rain. So… maybe not be so quick to dismiss until you have the facts. The recent weather in California wasn’t just a ‘strong storm’, Silly.

I disagree no one comes close to Jessica 😃
You're kidding yourself if you think your family members were so intrigued. They were just pretending.

Wow! This is by far the best weatherman I have ever seen 👍🏼 Thank you!
Always the best, most thorough weather explanations. Thank you!
Damn, the visuals forecast has improved greatly.
Very well explained report, much appreciated.
I got worried that we’ll be in a drought this year. Thank goodness for the rain, but hope it won’t brings any flooding.
Best forecaster
Yay you mentioned Crescent City! Theres a few towns above Eureka.
Three cheers from pellecan bay.😂😂😂😂
Darren’s is the bomb…cyclone 😊😆🌀🌪️⛈️☔️💧🌈🌦️
I really like the way this guy explains the weather. He held my interest and I learned from him.
😆😆😆😆😆😆

Wow the Sierras are gonna get slammed! Bring it on!!
Glad we’re getting a break in the north bay , we don’t need any for a bit
I love watching him... weather is boring, but he makes it interesting.

Which is good and bad. The ground can only absorb so much water. The rest just flows away.
the state hasn't really been in a drought for a few years now.
@@Zorbino88 Not necessarily true.
These graphics are legit
This guy is pretty good. Hmmmm ... think I'll follow him.
A video floor? Wow! Can't say I've ever seen such a cool looking weather room.
When it rains, there is excitement
I'm literally in bed dealing with a really annoying cold. Come further south cause the rain hit LA earlier than expected. It was cold here today!

He talks like he’s your counselor.
I wish we had Darren up here in the Pacific Northwest. The Bay Area is lucky to have him!

Oh the irony 😂 I haven’t ever been to that part of California and in a few days I’ll be driving to that exact location 😳
ok this whole "atmospheric river" thing is getting a bit played out, dontcha think
Atmosphere
GLOOM DOOM!!!
.... as are words like "sustainability", "green technologies", and the one I hate, "AI"!
Solid analysis.
At least the Bills did not get blown out of the mailbox
Look at all the high-tech b******* with the huge screen. I think you overdid it
I’m more of a Dallas Raines, kind of guy. 😂
Why you never show Vallejo but you have Napa on the map. Vallejo is more north bay than napa
Concerned about CA-1 being destroyed AGAIN
He's walking on water

Did all that rain put out all the fires? Just wondering.
They film the news on the set of The Mandalorian?
Scott Manley got 12"
This guy gets it 👍🏼
How these weather people look themselves in a mirror after telling such big lies, is amazing
Instead of saying California, why not say The bay area, that's all you covered
Atmospheric river! Bomb cycles! 🙄🙄🙄
You mean its going to rain? Talk about dramatic.
Yeah normal Humboldt weather we hadn't seen since the drought of 06
BOO! Scary words! Go back into your bunker
Please just call it a storm. This new terminology is so dumb.
You talk to people like they are children. Way to dumb it down.
Atmospheric River, LMAO... I'm done watching the over sensationalized nonsense.
Had a tough go of it in science class, mate??
They did the same childish manipulation in the Seattle area, too. 🙄
Not everything needs to be branded, I agree. It’s a rain storm, not the next marketing campaign.
Agreed. And they just keep saying it over and over and over LOL 😂
Twenty inches of rain, Brains…is not just a ‘strong storm’.

dude just yaps and yaps. this could be 2 min.
We like Darren’s yapping!
“Atmospheric River” is such a stupid term. It’s a winter storm. Not possible to have rivers in the sky.
lol. What a dumb comment

Or just plain" bull crap" from the news again.....there's a buzzword

They're working really hard to find flooding but most of the pictures are from Last year and flooded streets are from clogged sewer drains.
