    I love to sing and have a decent voice, but I have always been extremely weak in that mid-range where the switch happens. It's made me dread singing in front of others, even though I have a nice voice otherwise. I've done these exercises a couple times a week for maybe a couple months and I have noticed a dramatic difference! I can't believe it. For the first time in my life I feel confident singing. Thank you!

    I love these exercises and do them often. I would love one like this that has more of a steady rhythm to it(doesn't pause so much and repeat the same one un-equal amounts) Like a daily voice exercise video for mixing head and chest would be tremendous! But more importantly, Your videos are a staple in my life right now, SO THANK YOU GREATLY!!!

    I have not done this particular lesson for a while but making the switch is getting a lot more comfortable now as you have taught me to really understand the difference between the chest and head voices. Last July I had no idea what it meant! Now when I do these exercises I really feel the changes. I discovered the video before this one, where you give the tips, so it was a very useful precursor to this video. Off I go to the "singing room" now - don't want to bore you silly, but accept my very grateful thanks "comme d'habitude" (= as usual). Kind regards.

    I have quite a strong head voice (in the sense that my higher notes are quite strong and resonant) but I really struggle singing lower notes in my head voice in the exercise. Any tips?

    • @VerbaVocal
      @VerbaVocal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      +PinkGymnaticsGirl It may just be that your head voice doesn't go that low. That's not a bad thing, it's just that everyone's voice sits at a different register. Head voice is really for higher range anyway, so as long as you've got power up high then I wouldn't worry! You can use chest voice for the lower notes.

    • @PinkGymnaticsGirl
      @PinkGymnaticsGirl 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks s much for replying! I feel like these exercises will really help since I find that some notes in the lower/middle part of my register, right where I go into head voice, are a little weak (especially since my higher notes are pretty strong)

    Hello Anna. I love this video for the gear changes and switching exercises but have had to give up after a few minutes because of the poor internet connection we have here. However I did want to write again, because I asked a question a while ago about my voice becoming very dry and you rightly said to drink more water. Luckily that does help. But this morning I sang these songs: You Must Love Me, Don't Cry for Me Argentina, I'd be Surprisingly Good for You and If You Loved Me. I put heart and soul into my singing but by the end there were a few breaks and I became a bit croaky. I am hoping you are going to say you still don't think it's a problem because I can't do without singing (more) now. So sorry to bother you with this again, but I guess I am hoping it's just the same kind of thing as before. By the way, I have done OK with the exercises. I have also forgotten to tell you before that I can do the Vibrato now. Before I started using your wonderful videos, I tried to do it, but of course it wasn't right, but when you said that it would "come", I knew it would and it comes naturally in songs now, and where it's needed, I THINK! Thank you as always Anna. Kindest regards to you and Mark.

    Does a deep bite have any effect on one's voice? I sing most of the songs easily but have a lot of difficulty due to tension in my jaws. My voice usually ends up being nasal and ultimately it hurts my nose and throat.

    I don't know really where to post this comment Anna. I read somewhere that you said try and sing a range of different types of song (correct me if I'm wrong) which I am doing. My favourite genre is still musical theatre and always will be, but I am pushing myself all the same. I have been practising "The first time ever I saw your face" because of the very slow music. So of course it makes me hold all the notes which I am managing to do. I don't allow myself to stick with the "easy" stuff, as I love a challenge. By the way this video really helps distinguishing between the 2 voices. GREAT GREAT GREAT! Kind regards, comme d'habitude!

    How often would you recommend to do these exercises? I've been working this one and your Alternative 1 daily exercise. Can it be overdone? Is twice a day too much?

    hi, i have a problem. When in sing high I feel like there is something in the way blocking the voice . it feels like the voice isnt coming out its fullest. And when I sing a key or note I cant make it stable. like for example I sing middle C for 5 second, my voice is shaking like it doesnt comeout the fullest and I cant sustain my voice in singing the same for a period of time. pls help. thanks

      I have the exact same problem. My singing coach says it's a mixture of not enough air support and closed throat. Try taking really deep breathes and almost sighing to carry out the note. She says imagine lifting your soft pallet (the back of your throat) and smiling while you do it. I dunno but smiling makes you sound brighter.

      If you have problem Achieving high notes it could be because you're not ready to go up there., There are muscles in your body which keep the throat open Those muscles don't need to be that strong for talking or very light singing,
      but if you want to sing more challenging material and/or increase your vocal stamina you need To do vocal exercises to strengthen those Trying to do this by using courses whereby you monitor your own singing progress
      is a very Risky Business what you need is one-to-one tuition with a real person or at least on Skype

    Do you have a video just for chest voice? I'm not sure if I'm just overlooking it.

    😂everyone's commenting about issues with headvoice, but I'm sitting here wondering if I'm properly switching to chest voice. You did a really good tutorial though

    Hey, on the last exercise you say not to go back to the head voice with the AH but it really sounds like that's what you are doing???And when I try and do this it's extremely hard to keep it in head voice.
