- Tesla is planning to release a steer-by-wire system on some of their vehicles. What is this, and why do we need it?

From what I'm hearing about that Lexus if done right the feedback will be just fine, the hard part will be deciding what to filter out, crummy highway sure, aged track while doing laps, every bump and pit. Plus with steer by wire the Roadster SpaceX edition would have some control while hovering
If you are watching this due to the cyber truck, signify with your favourite emoji.
❤
I'm watching because I saw that and I was sure my model y already was steer by wire, but he said CT was the first..
Yes a cyber truck is the first to adopt the steer by wire. I was really surprised that they have not done that till now❤@@abn0rmal
Great review. More people should be picking up on this feature. All tesla’s will have this in six months. Technology is available to provide feedback through the wheel if you want it. Can’t wait for a friendlier yoke on the model y soon.
Apostrophe surplus detected.
Where would the pleasure of driving be, with no steering wheel?
Good vid
cybertruck will have steer by wire
Cybertruck has steering feedback…
matrix..... nice
Only an idiot would buy such a vehicle. You can literally become a prisoner without control of your speeding metal coffin. Add into that of the instability of the LiPo batteries and how they are nearly impossible for fire and rescue to put out once they start burning. It's a fool's design.
@@karl23103 don't you have something better to do?
are you clueless? what about catastrophic failure??
It's a horrible idea from a safety standpoint. Electrical connectors corrode, wires fatigue and fail. Furthermore, computers make mistakes, computers are HACKABLE!
This is a terrible idea that should never be allowed. I will never own such a vehicle.
I think it’s a terrible idea. If an alternator fails, the battery fails and the car stops. If a motor to your steering fails, you crash
Alternators, starter motors, there things fail but none of them would necessarily kill you
Also to focus on the wires?! That’s just branding, wires are a simple process which is probably mostly ac modulation, or the fact it’s all classed as electronic but not like that that motor drives a rack and pinion. So electric modulated steering is more accurate plus wire as in electrical can be confused with wire as in wire cable as in cable breaks
There’s a possibility, especially with EVs, to have multiple paths to power. So even if many components fail, the steering maintains in almost all cases.
You have good points, but trust me, all of those things are heavily considered.
This has been implemented ain some Lexus cars and in their case it’s two separate systems so if one fails your fine also in many cars the brake and or throttle are by wire
