Man I'll tell ya, The Godspeed! rabbit hole has to be one of my favorite ranit holes that I fell into throught my music journey so far. The kings of Post Rock as far as I'm concerned.
@@johnr6087 yeah man its difficult. What I've told most people is to imagine is classical music was made today with modern instruments, and covering modern topics. Kinda works but it can only be understood when experienced
I'm fairly certain that this album singlehandedly changed my taste in music as a whole, it's very evocative, melancholic, dark but also hopeful, nostalgic while being completely out of place, it isn't a standard music project by any means. This one and Yanqui U.X.O. quickly rocketed to be some of my favorite music pieces of all time.
u gotta legit listen to every second of audio this band has made, specifically the pre-hiatus stuff. slow riot, F#A#, and yanqui uxo are sure to blow ur mind as much as this one. once in a lifetime band fr. great vid
You continue to pick some of my favorite all time albums. If I may be so bold to recommend some of my other favorite psychedelic post-rock albums you may not hear of elsewhere, I would love you to react to: Department of Eagles - Cold Nose Olivia Tremor Control - Black Foliage: Animation Music Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements Tortoise - Beacons of Ancestorship Earth - Pentastar: In the Style of Demons
Lift Your skinny fist is a very demanding album. F#A#infinity (my favourite Godspeed album) is more story driven and less abstract which makes it easier to listen to. It's also shorter by 30min
I feel the completel opposite. F#A#∞ is something I need to fully focus on because it is so, soooo much slower than this one. it also lacks any cinematic or (really) explosive moment too
Just one more comment to give kudos for such a genuine and engaging listen. This album is super special to me and has left a lasting impact over the years. It’s nice to see your reaction capture a bit of that, authentically. Your editing also keeps things fresh and conveys your passion for music which I really admire. As others have stated, F#A# is well worth exploring when you’re ready to dive deeper into more Godspeed. And I’ll echo everyone else suggesting Swans too. A very adjacent listen, albeit with more vocals. Keep up the great work with the channel. 👍
omg. i'm so hyped to watch this, these tracks and especially some section are like engraved into my soul Edit: I see why you said that it kinda reminds of neutral milk hotel in some parts I love your editing, Actually I saw them live(and I'm going to see them this year too), and it actually fits perfectly especially for this band cause they're really cinematic -Smooth in lift antennas when you changed the colors at the beginning and at the end - 24:54 I died - Honestly I agree with you with the ending being perfect
Well Snowy man, you've moved me to comment with that reaction!! Fun watching you get more and more speechless! I saw Godspeed 3 nights ago in London and am still buzzing - totally mind blowing live, visceral, cerebral, the whole deal. They played a part of Static, the witchy World Police and Friendly Fire as well as Bosses Hang for LT and stuff of latest album. Mate, you need to go see them and record yourself getting hom eafter the gig!!! Peace and keep up the channel - you're doing a great job.
Easily my favorite music reaction channel on TH-cam. I would love to see more Godspeed reactions from you. I recommend listening to f#a#infinity next, it has a darker vibe but if you liked this you would love it
i had your experience 25 years go, had a huge smile at 5 min onward when i saw it really click with you finally. so excited to see them live again in 2 weeks, best show ever. Hope youve discovered more post rock in these last two years. never heard of you but i subscribed, hope lifes been good to you
YEEESSS i was waiting for your reaction to this ever since you mentioned it in the black country new road video, its one of my all time favs, really enjoyed the video as usual dude. would love see you react to more of their stuff if you plan to, its all top tier, i think everyone would say you should react to their F♯ A♯ ∞ album next but honestly i would recommend their slow riot for new zero kanada EP even more, its just another flawless experience that i think is probably just as good as lift your skinny fists. keep up the good work man, always looking forward to more of your videos.
what's incredible about them is they can play their material live to a tee. quite the feat, it's like an orchestra. love these guys. anyway you should check out Yanqui UXO and Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada
You should listen to Swans! ‘The Seer’ and ‘To Be Kind’ are both literally top 5 albums of all time for me, even though I’ve only known them for a couple months or so!
Great to see your reaction such a great album. Really enjoying your content so far and looking forward to seeing where you take the channel. I’d love to see you reach to F#A# infinity also by Godspeed and soundtracks for the blind by swans.
Hey dude! I just wanna say, I discovered your channel tonight and I'm absolutely hooked. You seem like such a cool dude and your taste is extremely similar to mine (this was also confirmed by checking out your AOTY-scores). I also love your editing style, it reminds me of Brad Taste In Music. Very high quality stuff, I always wished that someone else used edits on music reactions like Brad does. What can I say? I just watched almost every video (although I kind of skipped through most of them because it's almost 3 AM, but I will most likely fully re-watch them in the next days) and I am a fan already. Now since you really seem to enjoy Shoegaze, and I am a HUGE Shoegaze-addict (it was my most listened genre in 2021), I wanted to give you a recommendation that I promise you'll love: To See the Next Part of the Dream by Parannoul. My personal top 3 Shoegaze album of all time, right after Loveless and Souvlaki. It definitely deserves the hype it had last year and I highly recommend you to check it out (and maybe do a reaction?) if you haven't already. It's an amazing mix of emo and shoegaze. I gave it a 10 on RateYourMusic, one out of only 21 tens that I have given. I would love to hear your opinion! Oh, and since the lyrics are Korean, you might wanna get the translated lyrics beforehand. But the sound itself obviously plays the biggest role here. Greetings from Germany and keep it up with your amazing videos!
Wow thank you so much!! I really appreciate all of that a ton :)) You saying something like that inspires me to keep going. Also I definitely have heard of that record! For some reason I just didn't give it a listen last year but I guess I gotta lol. And yeah I love shoegaze as well oh my goddddd. MBV hits so hard
Really enjoying these! Have you heard Sigur Rós? Ágætis byrjun would be a great place to start! Also hoping you continue down the Elliot Smith road, not many reactions on his works and I like your takes on music.
Love all the reactions and your album selections on the channel, keep up the good work! I think you might enjoy Grouper - Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill if you're not familiar with it!
You seem to get a ton of album recommendations so maybe it's no use recommending even more, but I'd love to hear your opinion on Black Wing - No Moon. It's from Dan Barret, the singer of Have a Nice Life. It's depressive atmospheric goodness straight through.
👍 The first time I listened to this album I got very overwhelmed. It made me cry, and I don't know why because I never really cry. When are you going to do The Glowing Man Snowy? It's the best album by SWANS. cheers
If you loved this you definitely need to listen to their other opus F#A# which is much darker and bleaker First time I listened to LYSF it was almost a spiritual experience and it became my favourite album at the time. My tastes really changed since then but damn it's one of the greatest first listens a person can experience. I also recommend you Mogwai - Young Team. Mogwai is one of the most important post-rock bands of all time, and they picture an absolutely stunning introspective and reflective landscape with their music.

Good reacts but you can’t do a whole album and skip through what you show. You should just show the entirety of sleep. People wanna see the progressive reacts to all the different parts.
getting jump-scared by Like antennas to heaven is a right of passage
Every time I hear this album, I feel like I have a duty to tell the whole world about this band.
Want to know the most mind-blowing thing? They're even better live.

This album and Agaetis Byrjun by Sigur Ros. Two of my favourites.
I recommend He Has Left Alone… by Silver Mt.Zion, a Godspeed side project which features almost every member of Godspeed.
I second this, a silver mt zion is amazing
Sleep is probably one of my all time favourite songs. It still gives me chills.
24:55 The number of time this has happened to me, also.

I feel kinda sad that i will die without having a better musical experience than listening to static for the first time
the slow slide guitar/cello duet in she dreamt she was a bulldozer
The ending of LONG SEASON by Fishmans or Starless by King Crimson are similar caliber of greatness
or the "World Police and Friendly Fire" part of Static
Or the last 6 minutes of Sleep
