A highlight of my life was dancing crossfaded alone on a windy texas beach under the full moon to this entire album. It is a top 5 album of my life, hands down!
@@spencerbush1474 IMO this album is really simple and pedestrian compared to the magic that is found on we are all pans people and the elektrik karousel.
@@zerwee7409 I just think the other albums I mentioned are more arty, interesting, creative, challenging, and go more places by taking more left turns, plus they seem more otherworldly
This whole album is walking through a city neighborhood on a hot summer day, hearing snippets of tv and radio as you pass by open windows. Simply sublime.
I love how the Avalanches created the most beautiful collage of sound known to man with SILY and then didn't realease anything again for like 16 years lol
The pure joy of this reaction is something else. I've loved this album since it dropped - The Avalanches are from my home town, but I was finishing high school at the time and it felt like no one else was paying attention to them or this album. It was so thrilling to have this album arrive just as my taste in music was starting to expand - but I always felt a bit sad that I didn't have anyone to share it with at the time. It's stayed a huge part of my life, and I've since found a few people that I could share it with knowing they would appreciate it - and it has never gotten stale. But seeing you vibe out to this with that beaming smile of "What is going on?!" is so good. I didn't realise I needed this video - but thank you!
this has got to be like, one of the most perfect album reactions i’ve ever seen mostly because (like me) every single fucking section of this absolute masterpiece hits; you said it perfectly not a wasted moment, thank you for capturing this
Always nice to see someone discovering Since I Left You for the first time. This album follows me for over 10 years now and it became my favorite album of all time.
I'm surprised this isn't in the conversation of greatest sample instrumental albums of all time. Worth being in the conversation with Donuts and Endtroducing
Amazing album and great reaction! Glad that you loved it that much from the very start. I wasn't a huge fan after my 1st listen (liked It but I didn't see anything special back then) but it grew on me soooo much on each and every re-listen. It's a perfect vibe album and there nothing else like blasting it out loud in the summer. A Different Feeling is such a timeless banger! Easily my favourite of theirs along with If I Was a Folkstar from Wildflower.
glad to see avalanches still have such an impact on new ears. i remember when this came out, me and all my friends had it on repeat for months. still one of my favorite albums of all time, and my usual jam is industrial, so just sayin
I've been a huge Avalanches fan since 2016 and finally saw them live in 2022. It was one of the most uplifting, positive, happy concert experiences I've had. Everyone there was enjoying themselves, ESPECIALLY Robbie and Tony on stage. They stayed after the show to talk with the fans, and I got to meet Robbie for a second. He's genuinely one of the nicest, most humble guys, and seeing him interact with fans and staying to autograph stuff even though he was exhausted from the show was super cool. Loved seeing your reactions to the album!
Just found your channel and subscribed as soon as this was over, loved the video and your reaction to it! I highly recommend Wildflower next, it's my personal favorite of theirs. SILY is perfect in every way, but Wildflower scratches an emotional itch I couldn't really explain.
Awesome reaction. Awesome album. I HIGHLY recommend checking out Alive 2007 by Daft Punk. Doesn't matter if u have liked or disliked them before. It is one of the best electronic albums I've ever encountered, definitely my favorite live album (and I'm a jazz player and fan, so that's saying something lol). It's just as mindblowing as this Avalanches record, for slightly different reasons
i second this and i totally understand why u are suggesting it because in my mind the avalanches and daft punk are both incredible DJs and artists at the same time who truly know how to create an exciting and engaging mix full of surprises and goodies and mash ups.
This video really reminded me of the sheer euphoria I felt my first listen, still my all time favorite. It’s the only album I would genuinely call a miracle 🥰
Great to see how much you enjoyed this album. I know multiple others have said so, but I really think you should do a reaction to their 2016 album "Wildflower". It's a different vibe, but still amazing. I honestly like it more than SILY at this point.
Watching you review this album brought and left a perma smile on my face. I love the fact that you appreciated the art and had no prior knowledge of the group. It was cool to see a dude from a generation after me (if not more) giving the respect to this album (for which that it deserves) ❤. Keep doin whatcha doin ✌️
not to be all "dude drugs lmao" but I listened to this album on a good bit of molly in the car with my friends and during the title track, everytime the "since i left you" sample played it was like a layer of my identity was ripped away
When you woke up that day you didn’t realise your appreciation of music would change forever. Days like that are good days. Suggest you watch the video that accompanies Frontier Psychiatrist. It's astounding.
I remember first listening to Since I Left You and Frontier Psychiatrist and then listening to this entire album. What a masterpiece. I really like how you're enjoying the transitions as well. They're one of my favourite parts of the album Also, I'm really happy to see someone else enjoy Etoh. It is such a fucking vibe and it's underrated for no good reason. Here's a fun fact: Electricity samples the drum beat from Daft Punk's "Da Funk" and Live At Dominoes samples Thomas Bangalter (1/2 of Daft Punk)'s solo song "Outrun". The more you know!
you should check out the other avalanches albums, all their albums have love/heartbreak as the theme or focal point of the albums. wildflower contrasts happiness of being in love with wanting to be loved, and we will always love you is what i can describe as being lost in space while searching for the person you loved, just wandering thru the cosmos of sound.
Before I heard this album I thought Beastie Boys Paul’s Boutique was the best sample based record of all time but this is on an entirely different level! Without a doubt one of my top three favorite albums of all time and I include bands like the Beatles and Hendrix in that . Absolutely stunning!
it does! and to make it even crazier, they didnt have enough money to buy any actual equipment, and none of them actually sang or anything so they literally made the whole album out of only samples. its actually insane.
It’s probably the best album I’ve ever heard What I love the most is the album is more than the singles. Listening to Since I left you and Frontier Pyschiatrist is awesome but listening to them in the context of the full album makes them even better
this is lowkey my fav album of all time and littrly got me intrested in mixing , their follow up albums dont even come up close considering most of them left the groupe , theres only one song who didnt get sample cleared on this album called " with my baby" that sounds like a tarantino film beat and an extra song called " everyday " that sound like a sunny Daft punk RAM song . also advice evryone to listen to their DJ sets notably " big tent set 2006 " and " the saint jerome siren brains soca " party. it will defntly blow any DJ/non DJ listerners mind
you need to react to this album called Mirrored by this band Battles. It released in 2007 but it sounds like it was made in 2097. the whole album is about musical reflections, with guitars, bass, keys, looped and manipulated and sent around from each member to play against backed by a fantastic drummer. There are vocals but they're heavily manipulated and done to be like another guitar in the mix
