    Great review! I like how you point out things on the boat that you like and what you maybe don't like. Or just things in general to be aware of. Your just not trying to sell or show a boat for the manufacturer. At least that's what I take away from it. Keep up the good work.

    Great review and as always he never misses a beat and is easy to listen to.
    There's a lot wrong with this boat imo. Almost like it's been designed by someone that has never been cruising. No lower side decks? Hauling a ground line up to the fly bridge level and walking it along the side ? Eh, no thanks. What a really bad series of design features. No transom shower unless you have to install a ridiculous overhead pole? Strange modular furniture everywhere? Where is the "design" in that? There is no design. Might as well have just chucked some IKEA furniture onboard in flat-packs and told the customer "you figure it out". Truly terrible lack of effort. "Flexibility and customization"is being way too generous mate.

    • @johnpeel6601
      @johnpeel6601 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems like a great boat for the money but I agree with your comments Getting a slime line from the transom will make one holy mess on the sides of the vessel and I guess the poor deck hand that has to do it. If they think this is innovative they are wrong as Horizon, Princess, Pearl and others have beaten them to it with equally difficult slime line management. Transom shower has to be the most ridiculous effort I have ever seen and the furniture and colours are gross. Little or no thought or design which is a shame because some of the smaller boats are really very good. I love Italian design and this may have been designed by Italians but it misses the mark They need to look elsewhere.

    • @swfrazier1
      @swfrazier1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wallace, I agree with everything you've said and would add that all the square footage gained by doing away with the side decks ends up being used to make a bigger cockpit - I'd much rather have the extra space in the salon.

      This boat is designed for someone who has never managed lines. Sure, it's a bit more work for the crew but that's what they are paid for. A good captain/owner will make this up to the crew in other ways.

    Great tour! It's very informative that you point out the features you like and don't like. Appreciate your opinion. The Boat falls short of the mark, I think, compared to quite a few others but it seems to be cheaper as well so you get what you pay for I guess.

    • @blewyd
      @blewyd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prestige makes rather cheap yachts and this one is no exception. All it is is a simple cruiser that they styled to look like it's a capable offshore yacht. It is still the dock queen it is based off of.

  • @jimjohnson1715
    @jimjohnson1715 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Lots of negative comments about this one. I actually quite like it, the hassle of walking the lines from the fly deck is a bit off putting and the fact you pretty much have to have a sea keeper if you want a nice ride is a bit off putting, but overall a nice boat and a really good honest review!

  • @johnpeel6601
    @johnpeel6601 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Prestige says things like “The X70 offers infinite possibilities, blurring the line between the exterior and interior. Based on volume, circulation and light, this crossover enables you to benefit from the full beam of the yacht, reinventing space on board for an incredible experience. Life aboard the X70 combines the comforts of a luxurious villa and the pleasures of life at sea in a radically new and different way”. I say it was their blurred vision that has created the ugliest design and most clumsy yacht on the market and if comparing with the comforts of a luxurious villa they need to look beyond IKEA for inspiration for the interiors. As for dragging a Mediterranean slime line along the side, then up the steps to the flybridge along the side at the highest level and then down further steps towards the bow then you will end up with one holy oily dirty messy hull. That is if you don't fall down the steps and kill yourself in the process. The designer needs a slap. The transom shower arrangement is a joke and pure guesswork is required to get the fender levels at the right elevation. The whole X70 effort is contrived and sadly Prestige have ended up with a horror yacht that would not end up on my short list. It’s a shame as their other boats are generally good. If in the UK stick to Sunseeker, Princess, Pearl or even Fairline for a quality, fully sorted and value product.

    From the looks and function, this is prestige trying to jump on the long range yacht super capable market, yet it isn't a long range super capable yacht at all. It's just one of their motor yachts with a different style to it.

    These kinds of reviews are great. Direct observation. Even better is NO CAMERAMAN.
    You don't need another person for the camera. With only one person it is better because then you are focusing on the boat and not the reviewer.
    Many times other review sites and even this one, focus on the person talking about the boat instead of showing the dam boat.
    Show the dam boat not the person talking !

  • @chrishall4920

    I've not read all the previous comments about the palaver of getting the ground line to the front of the boat so this may have already been pointed out. But; narrowboat builders solved this problem years ago, you simply have a socket at both ends of the boat! This simple fix has obviously escaped the Prestige engineers

    Hi Jack. The only thing i like is the internal helm window. So many features not useful for boating. Moving furniture on the flybridge at sea, lines difficult to berth, etc. As standard should be on all boat manufacturers list. Good walkthrough video thanks.

    Princess and Sunseeker won’t be losing any sleep.
    Some of the interior is quite nice, some is really not nice at all. And outside, it just seems confused as to what it’s trying to be. On top of which it looks so top heavy and wallows, big challenge for the seakeepers.

    Of what do I speak, do you ask? Cabin layout for one. The Owner cabin ALWAYS belongs center line, amidship as much as possible for the best comfort underway. For two, why is the generator and the Sea-keeper open to the engine room? Some sound proofing and a triple pane Plexi-glass wall between the engine room and generator cubicle, maybe?? Or maybe, you find the noise of the generator running to be comforting? lol =D

  • @jays9211
    @jays9211 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That midship line rigging is terrible. It won’t be too much of a problem med mooring in Europe but would be a pain in the US.

    • @Ronfa12
      @Ronfa12 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      med mooring in this brick would be a nightmare. running the lazy line to the bow under crosswinds without crashing into anything is a feat on a normal boat, on somenthing as stupid as this it would be impossible. also notable almost all the lazy lines in the med are dirty and full of muddy sand so you'd get the sides dirty every single time, not to mention those that even have mussels attached scratching everywhere while you drag them on the side... it's been a tendency for more than a few years but now many shipyards have just gone full retard designing "boats" that should have no place on the sea.

    I like Prestige boats, but not this one.

    • @Ronfa12
      @Ronfa12 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're med mooring and have wind coming from starboard you'll be handed the lazy line from startbord to counteract its force without risking the line getting tangled in your props. without the double staircase you wouldn't be able to dock half of the times... so the second staircase becomes necessary. but yeah, mainly it's necessary to show how dumb of a design this is, thought by people who have never even tied a line on a yacht in their life.

  • @bryanlogue8035

    What a strange design.I think they are trying to be different for the purpose of innovation. Sadly It’s not worked, that boat will be difficult to operate when docking, I don’t think it would be that comfortable at sea, nor in the saloon. I have no idea what’s going on up in fly bridge. A huge waste of money - much better in the market for less cost.

However, I it compromised the design of quality of life of the ship in a way. It's not a particularly good looking ship in my opinion. The forward deck seems compromised by the design. Even the fly bridge with that strange support structure right were one would be standing is bad. The standard features are nice I will give it that, but that's about it.

    WOW. Everyone is being pretty gentle on this. So many shortcuts! Creaky cabinets, cheap finishes, hitting heads on flybridge supports, helm chair with poor adjustments, and sadly - the list just goes on forever. Forget the looks - like them or not - the $3.5MM price is ridiculous for what you get, according to Jack - who pulls no punches about it - I wouldn't be caught at sea in it. Just another sad statement from Prestige and Beneteau. The 460 and 520 are pretty good values, but there is just too much to consider in this price range that makes it a non-starter. I don't see anyone putting this on any short list to purchase.
