Your English is perfectly fine! Thank you for posting this video. Here in the US, I go to the MET in NYC to their arms and armor section to see a collection of Katana, Armor and other things. However, when I go to Japan, I always wanted to see Norimitsu in person. Now you have given me another reason to go and visit this incredible museum you just visited. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Hello, thank you very much for this posting, it is excellent. As an Englishman living in the UK I can say your English is excellent, thank you for doing this.
Thank you so much for this wonderful tour. I did not expect to find such an excellent new video, tonight. Also, your English is formidable; please have no concern about that.
Your TH-cam channel is definetly worth a thumb up and some comments about Ninja equipment that is not part of your TH-cam channel video. Then there is a unpleasent truth about Japanese Yakuza that also has their part of Japan culture history with Samurai and Ninjas that should not be forgotten. One thing i need to make sure if i am ever going to visit Japan is to make sure that everything is okay with the Yakuza so they also feels respected by my future visit as a tourist foreigner to make sure to follow all Japanese laws and rules of Japan.
TH-cam used to be for this kind of content. People posting about their countries, about their culture and things that a normal foreigners can never visit or even think of visiting... I know a lots of museums do not allow taking pictures or making videos... but I thank for those that allow it. Absolutely brilliant thank you for taking the time to show us these beautiful treasure. When I come to Japan I will be going to that museum. Thank you again.
Really great video, I have always been in awe of the majesty of the Samurai sword and those that had to wield it in battle. Japan has such an honorable history when it comes to the time of the Samurai!!! Thank you.
Goosbumps that they have the original swords of the legendary men who shaped the history of ancient japan, and in such good condition. Crazy that they haven't been lost to time and war.
Thank you for sharing such an amazing video! These swords look absolutely magical-like something straight out of a golden age. We're so fortunate to witness these mythical masterpieces. Thanks again! ❤
"Koken Mumei" still kept the hexagonal blade cross-section with the fullers. That's really somethin'. The nakago (the tang) looks old, but still usable.
Thank you very much for this post fascinating and intriguing the type of post that inspires a perso to learn more. I have to say you have done an excellent job presenting the post your english was of the highest standard clear and precise and most importantly understandable. You told the story very well and made me want to visit this very important cultural museum to learn more. You canbe very proud of yourself fair play young man
When MacArthur found out that his troops had been stealing all the Japanese Swords he put s stop to it and had as many as he could returned. He didnt want the Japanese to hate Americans and stealing the family Sword would have led to that.
Thank you for this video and tour. You did an excellent job. I would like to have seen a map with location, but you did a great job. Great narration as well. I sliced that subscribe button with my Katana! Rangers... Lead the Way!
I believe some of the national treasures displayed in the museum are the copies from the original ones. Secretly the holy relics are not displayed to the public, they might ask the best swordsmiths to recreate the exact copies for the public. Even so, it's a good thing. I prefer to keep the originals relics outside of crazy maniacs hands.
HOK-san, have you ever been to Tozando Katana Shop in Kyoto? They have beautiful blades too. ⚔️🙋🏻♂️🇺🇸🤝🇯🇵 BTW, your English was fine, and I say this as a teacher. 👨🏻🏫
there are more guns in medieval Japan then the whole Europe and their colonies combined. Oda Nobunaga loved guns if he could arm the dogs with guns, he would do that.
The usual Japanese tendency to turn everything they do into a work of art, even though that same mentality of perfection often turns into immobility. For centuries their swords were always basically the same design repeated over and over again with very little variation, while in Europe new models were continually reinvented, constantly seeking efficiency in variation, continually innovating. The Japanese perfected the matchlock weapons taken by the Europeans to the limits of a model that had already become outdated centuries ago, but were unable to advance from there, until the West again put them back on the path of innovation in the 19th century. When one path opens, another often closes.
It was China that invented gunpowder and the pipe gun. It was probably the Ottoman Empire that improved it into a modern gun. The matchlock guns that the Portuguese brought to Japan are almost the same as Turkish guns from a hundred years earlier. If Europeans are great innovators, as you believe, why couldn't they have invented guns in the first place? Also, flintlock guns existed in 16th-century Japan, but they were simply disliked by the Japanese. Before you get complacent with your fantasy of "Japanese lack of innovation," you should look into how many different kinds of guns were invented in Japan in the 50 years since the Portuguese brought guns to Japan.
@@001suisen4 It is clear that the race for innovation, science and finally the industrial revolution began in the European Renaissance and spread in the 19th century from the West outwards, not the other way around. Which does not mean that the rest of the world did not know how to do things. But it is clear that in the 19th century when the West met Japan again, a developed world found the same medieval country that it had found 3 centuries earlier, dressing the same, eating the same and fighting the same. Can you use your phone to translate the lore or is it disrespectful to take your phone out in this museum?
I think Heian and earlier swords are more interesting.
