You’re a good teacher Adam. At least on camera. I mean you could be a Tyrant off, but but I doubt that. Adam, you seem to also Wiig teaching your craft to someone as well.
Keith Ward Who cares about TV series these days anyway?! Television is dying, and that rather quickly. The Internet, especially TH-cam, has already replaced most of the television market and that trend will continue to replace television entirely. TH-cam, or whatever will replace it in the future, is your best bet.
I don't think i have turned on my tv in the past few weeks, and if i did i would be only to watch myth busters that i recorded so i could fast-forward through commercials
Thank you so much for doing this! (made an otherwise miserable week end pretty amazingly!) I started, own, and manage Industria Mechanika (literally out of my garage) so really appreciate the publicity and the love for our releases since as a garage kit company, we don't have any advertising budget. (we also pay the artists half of our profits to make it fair to them... every artist deserves to be paid for their work.) If you ever want to chat and find out more about how I do all of these releases and started this, Charles knows how to get in touch with me. I'd love to talk shop! Thanks!!! --Michael Fichtenmayer (FichtenFoo)
I second the going ahead and sending the invite, that sounds like a talk I would like to hear. Also your website is awesome, bookmarked for future purchases.
Well... I would fear that it's like going to a fancy restaurant and enjoying a fine meal in a beautiful dining room... then visiting the kitchen and seeing it's a grummy oil-barrel fire with a shopping cart for a cook surface under a bridge manned by dirty trolls. It's really not much to see... it's a garage with all of my supplies and tools where I design the packaging and instructions, sculpt/design some of the kits, do my shipping, etc., and a small crammed corner of the basement used as my stock area. I package kits on my living room floor while watching TV because that's the only space large enough for me to do that... sometimes on the kitchen floor, and sometimes I get my girls (8 and 11) to help... It's really a cottage industry, nothing fancy. I feel like a skype chat would be time better spent than the effort required to visit some random guys crammed garage on the other side of the country. haha! But hey.... if they ever wanted to visit Pittsburgh and destroy the illusion (which I doubt they have anyway... we all have our personal crammed hobby spaces full of "junk" that others wouldn't understand) I'd be up for it.
What I would do for a hour with Adam to ask questions and pick his brain. The man is a wealth of knowledge that you don't get from teachers or books but from doing it for so long. His passion for his work makes me want to get building!
Tested This is such a fantastic series. Adam is a great teacher and Norm is just awesome. Good job on asking the right questions at the right time, and letting Adam finish his stories before moving on to the next thing. Love watching these!
Even in interview videos with Norm and a developer of a new technology, Norm always knows the right questions to ask to get a good understanding of it and to give the viewers a fair amount of information.
I would disagree, I say Will is a much better interviewer. I don't know what it is about Norm but I think maybe he is too serious all the time and sometimes ends up insulting the people he interviews
+Stef Pletinck Yeah he always seems very enthusiastic about all of his projects and it looks like he has no problem with helping others, which makes him very likeable I think.
I think I like Norm's final product better... The lighting in the helmet on Adam's was really cool, but the weathered, statue look for Norm's model turned out really great!
I kindof agree. First I was feeling sorry for Norm not painting hes model with all sorts of color. But looking at the final piece, Norms birdshitty statue is really nice.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It was superior to anything I have seen for a very long time in the "Model Making Documentary" style. Loads of comprehensive info, thank you Adam Savage. I liked you in Mythbusters, but I LOVE this. Once again... wonderful.
The how to and tips are awesome but the production and presentation are just so far beyond anything else out there - yes super useful info for hobbyists but so damn entertaining and interesting.
This is the perfect format for a masterclass... you have Adam, the experienced master and Norm, the eager learner and doer. It's a fascinating interaction to watch. Adam is an excellent teacher. Edit: Norm, I was pleasantly surprised by how your model turned out. I wasn't sure how it would work but I think you did an amazing job and I actually prefer your take on it to Adam's go at realism. Great work!
Excellent teacher he isn't but good, yes. If you look, he does pretty much the work for Norm on the helmet instead of letting Norm do it. Any time Norm asks something, Adam finishes half of the kit for him.
What Adam meant by mixing paint with thinner to a consistency of milk. Pour a cup of milk into a clear glass cup. Then swish it around like wine. You will note the milk will coat the glass and you swish it round. That's what you are looking for in the paint. You will note you see Adam repeatedly swish his paint around in his cups. This is what he's looking for.
Hey William, feel like I've seen your comments near the top of a ton of Tested videos. I dunno why, but I always remember you from that profile pic. Hope you're doing well in the new year.
Please, please, please more of these! There's very few videos on TH-cam that would hold my attention for a whole hour, but my eyes did not wander for even a moment. That was amazing to watch! Thank you!
Norm is really lucky having such an amazing teacher like Adam. I like how Adam trusts Norm to do the entire model himself, and only steps in very rarely to give a quick demo how it's done. Would love to see more on tested from this kind of stuff!
They made him come across as the workshop-idiot. The guy who yells too much and only goofs about. This serious and determined side was never fully appreciated as much.
I think that its so neat that Adams first and foremost a teacher... telling Norm what worked for him. I think its cool when people can teach each other stuff
I feel like all of the one day builds with norm and adam, is adam being the father and norm being his son eager to learn everything his father knows and has to offer. I like that! It would be nice if you guys kept it like this. Love these kind's of videos!
Other ways to hide LEDs in plain sight and at lack of room need to be kept in mind. It's possible to use car window heater repair fluid (silver-based, cost about 5€) to draw invisible electric connections on the model surface prior to priming and painting. You can't solder to it, but you can CA glue SMD LEDs down, and then use more of the silver fluid to make electric connections, both from LED to the painted conductor, and from wires to the painted conductor. Silver fluid is finicky to work with, you need to shake and mix it all the time. Sometimes, it separates and electric connection disappears once it's fully dry. So don't forget to keep your multimeter in diode/continuity mode and check every step of the way.
If i understand it correctly, siana is saying that another option to do the LEDs is to use a fluid that is conductive. So, it can be used as wires basically, and can be applied like paint. Hope I'm correct on this
Adam, you sir have perfected and completely adhered to living your life just like the old saying "find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life". I stumbled across all of your "tested" videos last night and I have really enjoyed watching the handful I've viewed. Mucho gracious senior Savage!
One hour of pure model porn. Watching a talented craftsman like Adam is always a pleasure - and despite being busy, he always takes the time to help Norm. Class act.
Adam is genuinely a wild nerd geek, all over the place. Norm does a great job pulling out all the necessary snippets of learning necessary for us to do such good work ourselves. Lol great job Norm!!
Bob Ross is the man you watch for painting. Adam Savage is on an equal level with modeling :-P We got Bob Ross on Mondays on Twitch, we should have Adam Savage on Mondays on twitch haha.
Adam is a genius, one of my top favorite people and a real inspiration. He's so passionate and creative and intelligent. I wish Norm got some more videos where he could show off his chops. I know he's there to guide the viewer along and to make it understandable for us what Adam's doing cause he works at lightspeed and is hyperfocused on whatever project but Norm didn't get hired at Tested just because he was a guy who could ask questions. He's no doubt talented.
Thank you, I never would have thought of putting green in my flesh colours. I have been bitching and moaning about how my flesh colours have never turned out right but now I know.
I feel like a total novice watching all this but my god would I have loved Adam to be my wood shop teacher. I could sit and watch him all day be a total expert on all of this. So impressive and he seems so eager to teach.
Wow. Unbelievable! The way Adam swiftly goes over all the details in paint and just nonchalantly does this whole project amazes me. I am not sure which final product I like more, but I am sure that they both captured every detail pretty much perfectly!
Adam is one of my favorite celebrities and I love watching him do model kits, I would love a series of videos from him teaching how to paint and all the little things of modeling. I want to get better
I am glad I came across this channel. I have watched Adam since the beginning of Mythbusters. Adam brought life to the show. I would love to build model kits with Adam all day.
Woah! I really love Norm's model. Both Adam's and Norm's have so much character. Beautiful. I'm glad I finally found the time to watch the entire video.
+Mia Couch also in that boat though I've since decided to sacrifice a table I was going to give away and invest in a dremel, baby steps, Adam is like an unattainable ceiling of awesome but as long as you stay positive and dedicated you can only do good things, carpentry tutorials here i come
In defense, Adam admits that while his shop and situation is “ideal” for what he does, he doesn’t use 90% of what he has. He’s just in a position where if he needs something once, it isn’t unreasonable for him to go out and buy two or three of the best one available.
I love watching Adam get excited over things like this... He's like a kid that never really grew up but has decades of experience and knowledge to aid his giddiness
How is this sooo entertaining?! Is it because I miss Mythbusters?? I have no idea. They are just painting and sanding, it is an hour long and that doesn't bother me. I found this channel today and I can't stop watching the videos. All of my suggestions in my feed are TESTED videos now,
Yes! Finally somebody that knows how to use spray paint! I don't think I have ever seen someone use spray paint properly. Short quick 'bursts' not hold and hose it! Something I figured out before I was even a teen. But seeing just all the little things that a model could use, or maybe 'need', from start to finish is really informative. I have to admit I haven't made a model in over 25 years,, but this makes me kind of want to try it again.
Adam bro, you should wear a gas mask when working with all that lacquer. Beautiful model and interesting choice of color. Personally i would throw a flat coat over the fabrics and dry brush metallic on the metal parts so that it would contrast with the glossy leather boots and helmet.
+Jeff Niezgoda I mean if you're going to judge someone, at least learn the insult properly. It's condescending. I agree to the extent that he doesn't have the personality like Adam. I don't necessarily WANT to watch him. But I do want to watch Adam. Adam has a way with the camera that invites you. Norm is at least a step above beginner where he'll attempt to ask Adam questions the viewers may be wondering.
I must say that I am jealous. I would love the opportunity to study under a man like Adam, who not only has a great deal of knowledge but seems to enjoy sharing it. A true master.
Adam's workshop looks its pretty wide open and - I would guess - well ventilated due to the fact that he works with a lot of materials that shouldn't be inhaled or ingested, which I would guess explains the lack of masks and a spray booth. Though you're not alone in wondering about that, as I had very similar thoughts, especially when Adam was spraying pure lacquer thinner through the airbrush. I could already feel the ghost of a headache setting in just watching that stuff aerosolize.
Doan08 Ventilation would prevent a build up of fumes and paint particles in the air, but it wouldn't prevent them breathing them as they sprayed. Ultimately it's their choice and they don't need to answer to me for that. I'm not in the room.
I love the sound set up you guys use! I'm impressed how you can simultaneously hear Norm filing the resin and Adam mumbling in the background. All with perfect clarity... At times it had an almost ASMR quality.
adam truly is fantastic, i was going to comment on how the paint was peeling and the yellow wasn't particularly great, but it is the hardest colour to paint by far. He ended up pointing that out later on, a suggestion is games workshop although expensive does have some amazing oils and washes. love these series and this channel, 2 amazing models/modelers doing something different and touching on two of humanities all time greatest wonders, space and art. 10/10
+Sukki Blue I suspect the vision for the artwork on which the model is based works on the idea of Soviet technology being chunkier and a bit more primitive.
It's kind of painful to watch Norm here as this is quite a higher level kit than he seems to be used to. He also reminds me of how I was a few years back when I was learning. I think he did a really nice job though! And of course Adam did... **shakes fist** makes it look so easy!
I wouldn’t feel sorry for Norm, he knew (at least generally) what he was getting into. And taking on stretch projects beyond your comfort level is how you learn.
I hate to admit that I have watched this episode more than once. I really enjoy the way Norm does almost nothing that Jamie tries to teach him. I guess he was nervous, who wouldn't be a little nervous learning from such an amazing guy?
aDotFromTheFuture To be fair, Soviets were not about building things delicately. Compare their rockets to ours. Big, bulky, utilitarian. That being said, I realize this is not what actual cosmonauts wore, but this figure is based off of a particular artist, and is accurate for that. Similarly, the idea of having fins on a spaceship is completely ludicrous, but look at all the spaceships from that era that were made with fins. This is art. :)
aDotFromTheFuture TheBlacklag just go back to the start of the video and you'll see the book of derek stenning being flipped through, there you can see the designs of said artist of which this kit is based on.
great episode! But, aren't Laquer paints very, very toxic to be breathing in your lungs! (especially through an airbrush). Do you guys have a ventilation system that the camera is not showing?
I love how quick Adam is to stop working on his model to help Norm and teach him little tricks. I was going to say he'd make an awesome teacher, but of course he's already been there, done that.
Good stuff guys! I used to paint Warhammer 40k figures when I was younger. I got REALLY good at painting insanely small details. And you mastered techniques I used to use all the time and its so cool to see a guy like Adam do this so well. I wish I had the knowledge and experience. Im itching to start my own model again.
I love watching the differences between the ways Adam's hands move during sanding/etc and Norm's. It reminds me of the photos and results from the motion studies Frederick Winslow Taylor did.
I'll be honest I think the helmet on it looks way too big and a little out of place with that sparkling white but still a gorgeous model, tempted to buy one myself
No respirator when spraying lacquer? You are nuts lol. I spray a lot of guitars and I am positive my collapsed lung was due to lacquer, you do not want to experience a spontaneous pneumothorax, ever...wear a mask!!
Photos of the completed kits here: www.tested.com/art/makers/494687-photo-gallery-assembling-and-painting-16th-scale-figure-kit/
Adam Savage’s Tested Totally awesome!
Adam Savage’s Tested his work looks like Travis charest.
As one Gen Xer to another - I love Adam's old skool chemicals be damned - gloves and masks are for Millenials approach.
ive looked everywhere for the flush cutters he uses in this video , can you guys post a link? i guess its possible they no longer make that model?
You’re a good teacher Adam. At least on camera. I mean you could be a Tyrant off, but but I doubt that.
Adam, you seem to also Wiig teaching your craft to someone as well.
These One Day Build videos could seriously be it's own standalone tv series.
Actually Algiark is right. In the new Myshbusters theres alot of making proces included.
Keith Ward Thats the glory of the internet. Niche markets can be appealed to with some success on the content creator's side.

I was in Pittsburgh last winter... If I'd have known I would've said hi. Great work!
Fichten Foo the models you produce at Industria Mechanika are stunning. Thank you for the hard work
I love that they don't add background music, I like the concentration behind the projects. Passion for craft is my favorite thing.
Hands down, the best garage kit I have ever built. Simply GORGEOUS!
What I would do for a hour with Adam to ask questions and pick his brain. The man is a wealth of knowledge that you don't get from teachers or books but from doing it for so long. His passion for his work makes me want to get building!
joshua Dickenson youd need more time, he's a bit rambly lol

35:18 this!
@Alex Ebeling We will (this sub-thread) adopt you.
***** I'd agree with that... with a weathered, oxidized look. that would have been really cool
*****
I was thinking about a bronze statue too on a concrete base, verdigris and other weathering would look great.
I agree Erich, well done Norm.
I like that the lights flickered a little bit, gave the suit a well used past it's prime feel
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It was superior to anything I have seen for a very long time in the "Model Making Documentary" style. Loads of comprehensive info, thank you Adam Savage. I liked you in Mythbusters, but I LOVE this. Once again... wonderful.

Great work!
Exactly what I was thinking.
it would look good on a small diorama, for context. if its a concrete, bird messed statue.
William Hayden Thank you, I was wondering what he meant by 'milk not water'.
Hey William, feel like I've seen your comments near the top of a ton of Tested videos. I dunno why, but I always remember you from that profile pic. Hope you're doing well in the new year.
It's nice to see someone with something nice to say for a change. Cheers, guy.
Please, please, please more of these! There's very few videos on TH-cam that would hold my attention for a whole hour, but my eyes did not wander for even a moment. That was amazing to watch! Thank you!
Norm always does a great job of acting like he's learning something, while he gets taught how to paint for the seven thousandth time.
no, that's genuine - he does not learn anything whatsoever 😂
11:02 I bet he learned that Thelma and Louise is not an 80's sitcom. XD
The concrete park statue with bird droppings looks amazing!
Norm is really lucky having such an amazing teacher like Adam. I like how Adam trusts Norm to do the entire model himself, and only steps in very rarely to give a quick demo how it's done. Would love to see more on tested from this kind of stuff!
its not brain surgery
i really enjoy adams passion for the model
He really seems so genuinely nice and interested. Such a cool guy.
i like at around 51:30 where he's so excited he starts barking
I don't think Mythbusters allows the viewer to fully realize how much workshop IQ Adam has.
I agree. Hes amazing.
Big booms attract more viewers than using nail files.
mmhmm
They made him come across as the workshop-idiot. The guy who yells too much and only goofs about. This serious and determined side was never fully appreciated as much.
But really...
I think that its so neat that Adams first and foremost a teacher... telling Norm what worked for him. I think its cool when people can teach each other stuff
I really enjoy seeing Adam as a teacher, he is very clear and concise and not patronizing in any way--really inspiring.
I feel like all of the one day builds with norm and adam, is adam being the father and norm being his son eager to learn everything his father knows and has to offer. I like that!
It would be nice if you guys kept it like this. Love these kind's of videos!
NO WAY was this already 7 years ago! I remember watching this, like it was few weeks ago. Regardless, it shall serve as my knitting companion again.

+Jason Lee yup, exactly
And CA = cyanoacrylate a.ka superglue.
"Concrete, Yeahhhh, That's a fucked up colour."
- Adam Savage
haha
XD i'm surprised you are the only one who commented on that
Haha! That was hilarious. Now I want to see Adam do a video covering colors.
I was wondering if he actually said that or not, thanks!
Josh M Yeah, it's at 17:42..
Color*
Adam, you sir have perfected and completely adhered to living your life just like the old saying "find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life". It's so sweet the way he enjoys to help him do his model. So fatherly. You can just sense a huge heart in Adam. I adore and envy this relationship.
when it comes to makin stuff this guy is a freakin savage!
I see what u did there
+asdf Eyyyy!
asdf no no, he's ... A dam Savage
hahaha, came to answer the same thing
asdf I see what you did haha
One hour of pure model porn. Watching a talented craftsman like Adam is always a pleasure - and despite being busy, he always takes the time to help Norm. Class act.
This is barbaric...Vald Tepes surpassed.
0ptikz It would take me a month of working on every day to do what he did LOL
Clifford S Well remember that they cut out some parts so it took maybe half or 3/4 of the day.
As1anBeasTagE True LOL
0ptikz it's like shop class with a bad ass teacher, a true teacher can work and teach at mach speed
oh no... im really about to watch the whole thing arent i...
I feel your pain
Its addictive
One of my favorite videos. Not a whole lot of idle questions and talk. Just watching them doing their thing and talking together. Awesome to watch.
+Tom Foolious no no, adam needs to be on Tuesdays so it doesn't conflict with Bob Ross
One day build twitch stream? I would watch that!
Oh hell yeah!!!
Adam is a genius, one of my top favorite people and a real inspiration. He's so passionate and creative and intelligent. I wish Norm got some more videos where he could show off his chops. He's no doubt talented.
Karen Grace he's a glorified cameraman (as in standstill pictures) he knows nothing really beyond that sadly...
Awesome work on both. The bird droppings really blew me away. Looks photo realistic. Well done.
+PianoXfan1 I really didn't think a "statue style" would look very good, but they pulled it off pretty nice!
+PianoXfan1 anything is photorealistic if you take photo of it
You sir need to be slapped.
I think Norm took the easy road by painting the statue the way he did
It is so cool to see the joy that Adam gets when he is teaching new techniques and the enthusiasm he shows when it is put into practice! Well done!
The coolest part is how the led strip sort of flickers. Even though this piece is capturing a single moment in time, that extra detail adds so much
I agree, but it might just be from the camera and not IRL
Norm is lucky to have THE Adam Savage to teach him stuff..
Mr Holmes I lost my dog can you find it
Hij zit in je hol
+Pieter Kuipers hibidy hop ho didly bop, did i say anything lol
I kept waiting for Norm to cut his fingers.
Lots of stuff norm knows, and asks questions for the benefit of the viewer.
Thank you, I never would have thought of putting green in my flesh colours. I have been bitching and moaning about how my flesh colours have never turned out right but now I know.
Same! Super spiffy tip I'll be using on my Ma.K!
And now I want to do a garage kit.
Really cool
Me as well now
I just want a garage
Ho Yoga gl kit fotep
I feel like a total novice watching all this but my god would I have loved Adam to be my wood shop teacher. I could sit and watch him all day be a total expert on all of this. So impressive and he seems so eager to teach.

I like that they let Adam be Adam because it's not a family TV network it's TH-cam
Excellent ! Thanks for sharing you knowledge guys !
So glad Grant went that route. I was just thinking near the end it looks great even grey, but making it an old weathered statue was a touch of genius.
Who's grant?
Oh grant is the person from mythbusters
Lol wow
Adam is one of my favorite celebrities and I love watching him do model kits, I would love a series of videos from him teaching how to paint and all the little things of modeling. I want to get better
I am glad I came across this channel. I have watched Adam since the beginning of Mythbusters. Adam brought life to the show. I would love to build model kits with Adam all day.
This is SO relaxing to watch.
Aaaaw this really reminded me of my Dad teaching me how to build kits :')))))
with less yelling and giving up
***** hahaha
Norm does not look like someone who work a lot with his hand during his life.
Don't judge a book by it's covers.
What's your point? some people don't work with their hands a lot. Do you work with your hands a lot?
Rikimaru David uses his hand a lot ........
ha
What do you mean? He loves building lego's! ;P
probably didn't help getting blasted with paint and thinner fumes from Adam. Ventilation guys!
Please keep doing more of these builds, perfect Sunday entertainment. Thanks guys.
Woah! I really love Norm's model. Both Adam's and Norm's have so much character. Beautiful. I'm glad I finally found the time to watch the entire video.
Was just going to watch 5 to 10 minutes, Ended up watching whole thing. Berry intervestink indeed.
Liked them both, Each one ended up so much different. Very cool guys.
i can totally see Norm drilling a hole through his hand XD
+Warren Buitendag I'd pay to see that.
+Rogal Dorn now thats kinda morbid
+SicariiD morbid? More like more bids
These videos make me so jealous of Adam's shop. spend most of my time watching angry and sad that I don't have all of his tools.
+Mia Couch I'm with you there on that one...
I love the one day builds. Every time I watch I learn a little more and increase my skill base just a little more.
All of my suggestions in my feed are TESTED videos now,
best part is where norm covers his eyes, when adam cuts that piece forgetting he has glasses the size of the hubble telescope on his face. lol.
If you have ever gotten something behind safety glasses you would understand. Or the fact that it could potentially scratch his glasses.
asdfgman3 The material they were working with is softer than glass, so it would not have scratched his glasses.
Jayson Carey That is true I didn't really think about the material being cut, but still it's easier to protect yours eyes than to fix them.
I'd love to do a Warhammer 40K one day build with Adam. I have so many mini's I'd love to work on with him
Why do I find this episode so meditative and relaxing? The meticulous nature of the tasks is so enjoyable. Love it.
"I'M COSMONAUT, I AM IN WARN OUT SUIT HAND MADE BY COMRADES" - Cosmonaut
Adam bro, you should wear a gas mask when working with all that lacquer.
Beautiful model and interesting choice of color. Personally i would throw a flat coat over the fabrics and dry brush metallic on the metal parts so that it would contrast with the glossy leather boots and helmet.
I like when norm gets to do stuff
+maymay1566 I don't he's too robotic and condiscending
+Jeff Niezgoda I mean if you're going to judge someone, at least learn the insult properly. It's condescending. I agree to the extent that he doesn't have the personality like Adam. I don't necessarily WANT to watch him. But I do want to watch Adam. Adam has a way with the camera that invites you. Norm is at least a step above beginner where he'll attempt to ask Adam questions the viewers may be wondering.
43:00 This is why I just LOVE oil pain!! I love the blend ability of it; and what it does.
I must say that I am jealous. I would love the opportunity to study under a man like Adam, who not only has a great deal of knowledge but seems to enjoy sharing it. A true master.
I need this for... reasons.
lol
Well I need it for... no reason.
It's just awsome...
I want to be Adam's pupil.
Please take me under your wing, O' Great One! I want my Warhammer minis to look amazing!
Love these videos.
I do wonder about not using masks or a paint booth.
An airbrush contains whatever type of paint is put into the feeder cup. In this case, it was lacquer based paints, which are certainly not non-toxic.
I think the shop has a decent extractor system which was covered in one of the "cave" episodes I beleive
At 0:22:36 Will goes to the back and turns something on that sounds like a ventilator.
Doan08 Ventilation would prevent a build up of fumes and paint particles in the air, but it wouldn't prevent them breathing them as they sprayed.
Ultimately it's their choice and they don't need to answer to me for that. I'm not in the room.
Love the enthusiasm when Adam talks and the information he have stored in his brain is just mind boggling O_O
I'm a big fan of Adam Savage and had no idea he had so much passion for art! I'm blown away!
I have to say, i am NOT a fan of that things helmet.
Agreed
i thought the boots and gloves where too small as well :/
was gonna type the same thing before i saw your comment haha looks goofy compared to the grittiness and realism
+Morgan Roberts I think it just looks that way because the suit was really bulky.
Darth Helmet from Space Balls
"I'll just watch bits of it"
1 hour later.
"Good video"
Why is his helmet so big?
+baileyboy125 And why is he capturing Wheatley from Portal 2?
+baileyboy125 its based on concept art. so the model is exaggerated in scale with certain parts. really neat
+baileyboy125 its based on concept art. so the model is exaggerated in scale with certain parts. really neat
+baileyboy125 its the guy's art style i guess
+baileyboy125 its just a design aesthetic. Same as asking "Why are anime swords so big?" It's just a design choice the artist thought looked cool.
Why is the helmet so damn big
+Sukki Blue gotta store that massive brain yo
because back then they needed big helmets in order to be able to be able to move and hook up to the suit(My Guess not sure)
+Sukki Blue I suspect the vision for the artwork on which the model is based works on the idea of Soviet technology being chunkier and a bit more primitive.
Samuel Smith ah, thanks
+Samuel Smith take the kv2 for example. Statins skyscraper
Guys, sanding resin with no respirator is not a good idea.
Yeah, the airbrushing without one isn't a great idea either.
@@ryguy6482 yes especially when using lacquers.
They’re in California, they are goners for sure.
Always wanted to die doing what I love
I hate to admit that I have watched this episode more than once. I really enjoy the way Norm does almost nothing that Jamie tries to teach him. I guess he was nervous, who wouldn't be a little nervous learning from such an amazing guy?
I've watched this four times now. Please, for the love of all reason, more model builds!
that helmet looks way to big
I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't know what they were thinking with that really...
aDotFromTheFuture
To be fair, Soviets were not about building things delicately.
it was the artists style, abstract and awesome
aDotFromTheFuture TheBlacklag
just go back to the start of the video and you'll see the book of derek stenning being flipped through, there you can see the designs of said artist of which this kit is based on.
Lalaland Well yes, but that doesn't change the fact that it looks out of place. But that's just my opinion, so no need for a debate here.
"I reject your reality and substitute my own."
great episode! But, aren't Laquer paints very, very toxic to be breathing in your lungs! (especially through an airbrush). Do you guys have a ventilation system that the camera is not showing?
***** I was thinking the same thing watching this. I build gunpla kits and always wear a mask when spraying the paint.
I guess their work area is ventilated because after all, it is a workspace for art and that stuff.
xoKimmi Kids watch that show, and they should have said how important ventilation is...just sayin'.
in some video, they do say that, also, i don't think "kids" would try this... with lacquer lol.
***** Those thinners are pretty evil too. Must be a good extraction system, but even so should have a mask on for those paints even with extraction.
Adam you rock ! your passion and emotions into your work are wordless to describe.
I love how quick Adam is to stop working on his model to help Norm and teach him little tricks.
I was going to say he'd make an awesome teacher, but of course he's already been there, done that.
Anyone know any cool websites where we could buy model kits like this?
I literally just spent an hour watching paint dry.
Adam says fuck a lot, which seems shocking but he says it on Mythbusters a lot too they just censor it, Adams pretty bro tier.
It's nice seeing the bits where Adam is teaching Norm a trick or two; great episode and really cool models.
The helmet is WAAAAY too big.
What a lux(Yuri)ously large helmet. It's positively (Gagarin)tuous!
17:41 fucked up colour?
I love watching the differences between the ways Adam's hands move during sanding/etc and Norm's. It reminds me of the photos and results from the motion studies Frederick Winslow Taylor did.
I love how Adam just goes and tests the paint flow on his hand or the workbench, or just any surface that is conveniently nearby.
I'll be honest I think the helmet on it looks way too big and a little out of place with that sparkling white but still a gorgeous model, tempted to buy one myself
the audio in this video is so wonky when they aren't talking
No respirator when spraying lacquer?
You are nuts lol.
I spray a lot of guitars and I am positive my collapsed lung was due to lacquer, you do not want to experience a spontaneous pneumothorax, ever...wear a mask!!
+Chout Rodriguez I feel like it's safe to assume that Adam Fucking Savage has a pretty hefty ventilation in his workshop.
TheGamingSauce Well he has worn em in other episodes and even in spray booths for cars, with amazing ventilation they wear respirators.
He was on mythbusters, they do a lot of crazy shit, he's immortal.
yes please more 1 day kit builds this stuff is awesome, i love the contrast between the two kits color wise.
