Thanks for the info. My blower would work on high and sometimes fuse would blow. But if I left it on setting before high it never blew. Opened up the blower switch and it was all burnt up n nasty. I ended up buying another other but this video helped me diag it
Just had to replace the squealing blower motor on my 82 Cutlass so I figured I'd try this fix as well. Fan works fine on speeds 1, 2, and 3. When I go to speed 4, the fan shuts off. Did this fix, took it apart, used a brass brush to clean up the contacts. Put it back together, no change. Still have speeds 1-3 working perfectly, and nothing on speed 4. Any suggestions on the next things to check or try? Should I be more aggressive sanding the contacts and use some steel wool or something? I could also try testing it with no dielectric grease, just to see if it works. Or is the next culprit the blower motor resistor?
@@buckaveliits your blower motor relay. Its right towards the front of the car about 8 inches from the resistor. Has 5 wires and plugs in from the bottom. Just 2 “1/4” inch screws just like the resistor. Unscrew it FIRST, then unplug it
Not sure what metal piece you're talking about. If you're talking about the round piece, it's in the video how it goes together. You can't get it backwards.
So I got a problem where the switch works sometimes and then it doesn't. if you push it a certain way and hold it, it works. Would that still be a contact issue?
Hello, just my luck I found your video after I went out and bought the switch. I went ahead and installed it and mine still didn't work on high, any suggestions on what I should check next? I have also changed out tw resistor as well. It's a 87 monte carlo ss.
@@boss94ways51 check your 4 pin connector on passenger side of the engine near your alternator. Mine had and melted, the connectors were corroded as well. I replaced the connector cover and cleaned the pins and know it works.
@@connie2848 no...i was putting the ac box back together.i saw those 2 parts on ebay new. For under $20 for each one . ima order it. Then move to the inside.... Statred with blower resistors ,relays evaporator & heater core...just going with everything new since it's not to expensive compressor & condenser also finally puttinf air in this regal after 11yrs. Always rode with the t tops out...but this summer been a MF...not no more
Check the cable on back. The black sheathed cable opens and closes the hot and cold door in the box. Look at where it connects to the main box. It should clip in. Sometimes they break. th-cam.com/video/ZTejQPy4aZE/w-d-xo.html
Check the large black plastic connector just above the RH valve cover at heater box and firewall. Sometimes they are melted and get corroded. Causes a bad connection.

The corroded contacts are your problem. This will fix it.

I've got the same problem, I took off the 3 plate screws but the bottom seem to still be holding up. I don't want to break it, any suggestions?

Im going through the same thing with my regal. Chg fan and resistors and high speed relay still no high speed

Mine heat stays blowing witth my switch in off position while driving
When I turn the heat or ac on nothing happen, ran a hot wire to the blower motor and it came on any tip

Same on my 87 c10. I got all the speeds but high!
I replaced everything
Dint work even bought new does same thing
Try swapping the relay which is on top of hvac box under hood. It's a rectangle silver box.
