You can always check their wiki page if they're famous enough for pronunciation, or put their name in Google translate in the language it's from to know the pronunciation. Don t know about springs but some used to put thicker and harde insoil in heir shoes to have better leverage , they would tape it on their leg before entering the call room and put it on once on the jumping area

After watching quite a few jumpers land in slow-mo I can see that their butt actually does hit right about where their feet initially landed. Some jumpers do lose an inch or two though from what I've seen
To land on your feet you have to have them below your body, hitting the ground sooner and going less far. It's like they are tucking them away more or less
I read something about the take off plank in the jumping events at the Euros being different to the usual and effectively providing a trampoline effect. I don't know any details, or if it is even correct, but the results were certainly quite amazing. Does anyone possibly know more about this?
They built a platform up on the stands to house the long/triple jump competitions. Pretty good idea to be honest, but people have been saying that this platform ended up being more springy than normal conditions. So not the plank, but the whole platform.
