Truly enjoy your adventures. I am 82 yrs. We went camping with our four children and loved every minute of it. Brings a lot of memories of our days. Wonderful bonding for families. I am now bed ridden so this is great entertainment for me. Thank you for posting. God bless you and your family. Be safe 👵🏻💕👍🙏🙏.
I love how you care so much for Susie and her well-being. My husband was so like that when we were young. Now we are so old, we have to hang on to each other!
When I was 17 years old I ran away from home for a full year and lived in the cab of my 1970 C 10 Chevy pickup truck. As the days got shorter and the nights colder I bought a single mantle Coleman lantern for a heat source. The only problem was I had to wake up every couple of hours to pump up the fuel tank. When it came to cooking, I had a single burner Coleman stove that also ran on Coleman fuel. I really learned a lot about surviving on bare minimum that year.
A spouse willing to push herself and have new, potentially very cold, experiences with you is a keeper! I'm more surprised you saw so many other hikers out there
You’re a fortunate man Luke to have your wife coming out with you. As I aged I find it harder to share what I love. People move away, die or just have the energy. You are blessed to have her.
I love to camp and hike but I'm getting old (57) and had knee surgery and need knee replacement and have only one friend he's a male, I'm a female and don't feel comfortable sharing sleeping space but will as ive only had 2 female friends in all my life and your right about how things change as my bestie died and after 45 yrs of friendship w the other we took separate paths so I need a camping partner and it seems not many my age are interested plus being old my little 2 man tent is getting painful as I age. I hope one day I get well off eniught to get an RV, heck I'd be happy With a van. If worse comes to worse I'll camp in a car before I stop camping. Signed Vicki Carnes
Tent location in heavy snow fall is even more important . What widow makers look like in dry weather or rain become their name sake means when it snows !
Luke I think that was a smart decision for the two of you to get off the mountain. Because you know your limits with the gear that you have and the time constraint that it would take to get down and be safe. My hat's off to you be well to the wolf pack.
Nuclear green beans!-lolol. :-) Like all the camping tips, Luke. That tent looks soo cozy. You guys together or apart are great, and your music choices Epic.
That was truly an epic adventure and Susie, you were impressive! It takes a strong heart and will to do what you did. We already know Luke's persistent fortitude and skills; I was impressed, Luke, that you seemed to "drag" your feet while hiking in front of Susie, making it easier for her...what a stud! In a very gentlemanly way, of course :) That was a good call to egress while the gettin' was good. The Hilleberg is one impressive shelter.
Yes, I noticed the trail break foot shuffling too. Good job. Hunting Colorado I always cut a walking stick to steady myself. I tried a trekking pole but a couple of times I forgot it and had to backtrack to find it. If I'm packing out 100 pounds of meat I cut two poles and still have to be careful in the rocks and brush. I notice you never use one.
Do I like my Buddy? Let's see ... between buying for myself and buying as gifts for others I've bought 7 either Mr. Heaters or Heater Buddy. I can't tell you right now where any of them are. My kids (adults) snag them and conveniently forget to return them. I'm starting to think the only way I'll keep one is to lock it in a gun safe. We don't use them for camping only. We use them to supplement the heating in our houses. Finding Mr. Heater has been a wonderful find for me. We've been buying and "loaning" them out for 30 years. The biggest problem with them is finding someone to service them should something wear out or break.

Just returned from an adventure in Roan Highlands in the snow. Temps in teens and high winds. The only real drawback to the JetBoil is that it's strictly for heating water, not for mixing stuff in the container. This limits its usefulness a bit. On the other hand, it heats water very quickly, so if you're making coffee or a dehydrated meal, you'll get your hot water pretty fast.
I found your channel a few weeks ago, Very Glad I did. Gotta love winter camping. Last winter camp, I hit the county road, Darn where is the snowplow. They came a few minutes later, then a few minutes later I went oh boy wish they had not come. The truck scraped the snow down to the ice! Ouch, down I went. I had to trudge thru the snow on the side of the road for 2 miles till my friend picked me up...

What a great adventure Luke and Susie. The videography was fantastic, so beautiful. Thank you both so much for what you do. You provide a way for those of us that can no longer do some of the hiking and camping to still experience it. You inspire those that can to go out and do it . Love watching you guys, stay well.
I grew up in northern Illinois and always took snow for granted. Then I went to college and one of my classmates was from Hawaii and had never seen snow in his life. I will never forget his reaction when he first saw snow - it was as if he had just met his long lost love after several years apart. It was a cool experience, and made me rethink my dislike of snow, having grown up shoveling it out of our driveway. It does have a certain magical quality to it.
This trip really shows the necessity of having the proper gear. Here I sit watching this while so many of us Texans are without power and water. Take care and be safe.

What a fun video. Brought back old memories. The land and trees and hills were gorgeous. My memories of Winter snow, beauty and trees comes from skiing with my Dad. He put me on skis at a very young age. So young I put myself on my skis between his skis and wrapped my little arms around his long tall legs. This worked 😊 till I grew tall enough to reach the rope tows. ❤❤❤LOVED LOVED IT, SKIED into my 60s till knee surgeries needed.

yep. and i used mine to make a fire in a winter survival situation. my frames are made of magnesium. so i scrapped them and got shavings off my snowshoe frames to make a fire in a big snow cave in one of my vids. and did it on a national tv show once. i live on a huge huge volcano. snowing 4 feet here in the next few days. i live in the national forest on a 11245 tall mt that is a volcano.
ya. If these 2 were really out there for days on end, their feet would be soaked regardless. And wet feet, are a death sentence in long exposure winter treks.
@@SavageAirguns i use bunny boots and military magnesium snowshoes. they look like tennis rackets and they are not that heavy but on deep pow you float. we are gonna get 3 feet in the next 5 days. we get 600 inches of snow a year. you need the big floaty kind where i live.
There's a lot of things I like about winter hiking and camping more than summer. Its very quiet, you can hear the snow hit the ground and trees, there's more places to set up a tent, you don't have to worry about a camp fire or stove setting the forest on fire, there's less people, you can see all the cool animal footprints clearly. Ice does weird stuff. I just came back yesterday from a snow trip where there was these huge ice crystals everywhere, all over the ground. And if you can't stand the heat and humidity of summer, winter camping is for you!

Great call about heading down the mountain BEFORE it got too bad. Here in Bulgaria, they are calling for a minimum of 25 cm (9.84 in.) And a friend wanted to go on the mountain for his first "winter bushcamp". I said it was crazy because at an altitude of 7,500 feet (which is where my bushcamp is) it's going to be at the most close to 3 feet of snow by Sunday night. Showed him this video and said "this is how smart people do it" Cheers you guys, from Sofia, Bulgaria.

Luke and beautiful spouse: Thanks for a great video. I was anxious when you guys were in the tent discussing whether to stay or go the next day. I was so happy in your decision. What a relief. I liked the idea of staying in the truck and looking out at the snow.
When I lived in Colorado near Central City, hiking in the snow was great. I found an inexpensive pair of snow shoes really makes the hike easier. I was lucky enough to have a buddy who worked for Head Ski who donated a pair to me. Staying on top of the snow keeps your feet and legs dryer. And it takes a bit less energy to move along. Where I lived, outdoor adventures were a way of life. Great cardio-vascular workout too. This was back in the 70's so there was no youtube. And even though I took lots of photos portable video was not a thing back then. Wish I could revisit the past with a good camera today. Really enjoyed this video. Had some popcorn while watching, here on Saturday night. Thanks.

ya. If these 2 were really out there for days on end, their feet would be soaked regardless. And wet feet, are a death sentence in long exposure winter treks.
I don't understand why they didn't bring any. They were hoping for a foot of snow.
Great video! Looks like the 2 of you had a great time!
I don’t know 🤷🏼♂️ how important is to no 👎🏻 sweat 😓 I learn something very important 👍
Would love to see another video of staying in the shed with the wood stove.
Every sympathy with you Susie...you are the 🌟of this vid

After receiving countless messages from viewers about supporting the channel through Amazon, I have begun using Amazon Affiliate links in the Adventure Videos and if you choose to purchase one of these products via these links I will receive a small commission which will help fund future honest reviews and adventures.
The channel remains as it always was, 100% Agenda Free with no sponsored videos, no paid reviews, and I don't care if you purchase these products or not; you won't find affiliate links in review videos only in adventures.
I'm going to do my best to put gear lists into all of my videos since everyone is asking for them all the time.

Do you use a Mr buddy heater on all your winter trips? I’m new to this and that changes everything I thought.
That's the tent you used on another snowy two or three nights if I remember. Wow, those trees are beautiful. I hope Luke offered to carry a little of your gear Susie. ;0)
I have had a Heater buddy for at least 10 years and I use it all the time. I just love it. It is the best.
Susie's foreshadowing of luke's impending snow storm adventure by himself will likely include an epic set of snow shoes
And a polk sled for all the gear. It’s easier with that amount.
Thank GOD You Both made it down Safely. And the other couple safe as well. Susie⚘, You encourage me and Luke⚘taking care of Your wife Susie the way you do is a Blessing You two are a Beautiful couple LOVE and GOD BLESS You Both.😘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘💜💙🤗
Great adventure we had a couple off inches in the uk still icyey here
Luke and beautiful spouse: Thanks for a great video. I was anxious when you guys were in the tent discussing whether to stay or go the next day. I was so happy in your decision. What a relief. I liked the idea of staying in the truck and looking out at the snow.
Right call at the right time guys. Great adventure to wstch ... I'm envious. Bushyboy Oz
Thanks.
Lol...that's right! Bring me the coffee and THEN I'll talk.
Awesome look like hard work
Suzie's sleeping bag looked cozy
Hello I'm from Philippines, I do camping and outdoor cooking.
TheOutdoorGearReview videos encourage me to go out and have fun hiking and camping.. 😊😊😊
You guys are so goofy, loved that ending.
I enjoy the quietness that snow brings. Even the birds seek shelter & stillness when it snows 🤗🕊️
Luke, Why do you guys never use trekking poles? If you tried them I bet you would never go again without!
