yeah... that wood's gonna be rotting through on the bottom pretty soon. could have just used fine mesh.
That would have made a great under the bed drawer for socks, gloves, scarves, etc. too 😊
That's what I was thinking, too! It would definitely last longer. You can even add tiny casters to the bottom so it rolls. 🤩
VERY Cute idea!!! I would :
1. consider putting a waterproof sealant over all your painted designs and the wood.
2. Place screen mesh on the bottom instead of wood.
3. Make a weather proofed wooden frame to secure the mesh.
4. Then I’d line the inside of the wine rack spaces with Garden / landscaping cloth.
5. You can put your potting soil right inside the spaces now. The Landscaping cloth acts as a barrier between the soil and the treated wood.
Still. FABULOUS job!

I love this idea! Isn't the wood would going 2 rot? Where are the drainage holes. I would've clear coated the inside after drilling drainage holes. Great idea tho. 😊 Thanks, drill a few small holes n the bottom of urs and ull b good to go for a few years.

Girl, remive the biodegradable pots and make sure the plants aren't too big for their cell(the basil needs to be only one main stem for example) otherwise they'll die very fast(from experience) it's very cute tho

you could get probably 2-3 summers before the wood rots. i just wouldnt want to eat the herbs as its molding and rotting at the bottom.. its super cute but wood is not the best material for dirt and water

Waterproof? Did you have to treat the wood with something before you start putting water in that garden bed? I made a wooden one a couple of springs ago and after just 15 months the wood bowed and bent and is barely staying together. Any info would be appreciated.

Cute, YES! Impractical and a bit dangerous, also, YES. The wood needs to be weathered treated and stain or paint is never good for food consumption.
