AMD has invested $665 million on AI (especially Large language models) But PlayStation isn't interested in "new GPU usage", AI driven NPCs. I think PS5 and next-gen can't attract ambitious developers in the current technology level
I don't think there will be a disc drive at all on PS6. Brick & mortar stores are dropping physical media and the drive is already only an option and not standard on PS5 Pro. Digital only = more $$ because you can't buy used games.
I doubt the PS6's GPU will be any faster than the upcoming RTX 5080 if Sony plans to keep the launch price reasonable for the mainstream market ($499 to $599 USD). RTX 5080 levels of rasterization and RT performance (assuming 5% to 10% faster than a 4090) will probably mean about a 2.5x to 3x increase over the PS5 Pro, which seems about right to me. The PS5 is about a 2.5x increase over the PS4 Pro in GPU and a 3x increase in CPU. So in a nutshell, if you already own a 4090 or plan on getting a 5080 paired with a fast CPU and 32GB of DDR5 ram, you'll have something that is probably approximate in game performance to a hypothetical PS6. Of course Sony will probably throw in some secret sauce software that is AI based that complements PSSR to make the console "punch" above its weight and perform better than it should.
It doesn't need to console optimization is way better than on pc. The only thing they need to be par on with a strong pc is frame generation and then it's over.
I don't think it even needs to be 5080 fast, 4080 will probably do thanks to PSSR. I think Sony's requirements will be we want path traced games on the PS6. And you can run Cyberpunk in Overdrive mode at 60 fps with a 4080 + DLSS
@@SpykerSpeedI don't think so. I would wager the PS6 will be right at $500 (not including optical drive). The PS5 Pro is being sold as a premium model rather than just a refresh and won't be indicitave of the next base model machine's price
No point in guessing what the PS6 will be in terms of GPU's. We simply don't know what either 5080 or PS6 will offer in terms of performance as neither are released yet. if the PS6 comes out in 2026 as is rumoured though, just as a comparison the PS5 is equivalant to a 6700/2070 Super. At the time a current AMD and a last gen Nvidia mid range GPU's. If Playstation owners are hoping for 4090/5080 levels of performance for the PS6, I think you'll be sorely dissapointed if I'm honest.
Graphics performance of gaming console is nearly saturated. 8K is meaningless to human eyes. 4K 120Hz is practical limit of gaming graphics, which will be easily archived in PS6. Ray tracing is not worth it. AI NPU will be must. 8 core CPU is more than enough. So not much hardware innovation in PS6. mostly usual well expected incremental improvement like 32GB GDDR7.
Honestly, if you have a PC you don't really need a PS5 as almost every single exclusive for it has made its way to PC. And if it's for GTA or whatever, just borrow a friend's console to play it, then return it.
I sold both my Series X and my PS5 when I built myself a decent rig, PC and Xbox games day one. Playstation games coming a year later and will likely be less time to wait next gen as they've made it pretty apparent they need the money. Not a Fanboy in the slightest and understand the use of consoles as they are very cost effective and much more simple to use, but if you have/want a PC and have the means and knowledge to get a decent build together, you really shouldn't be getting a console unless you're dead set on living room gaming. Cheaper games, free online play, better fidelity. Genuinely I get my new PC games like half the price of the £70 asking price on sites like CDkeys etc. Makes up the difference in cost rather quickly if you look at it like that.

Optane was 2017 to 2023. So not available then, and likely never cost effective for consoles. A 64GB ssd using nvme 1.1 across 4 x pcie3 lanes would have done the job if used properly. Of course just having any nvme drive capability requires having the pcie lanes, extra design work on the mainboard, and of course the big expense of software development to properly support it, especially as a cache drive.
it's not a real PS6, just an approximate version of it based off of available hardware. if real silicon sample is already available, then we're looking at a launch within a year coz that's how tight the timeline are for silicon developments. which i highly doubt as PS5 Pro just came out i the market.
Hate to be the person to bring console wars into this, but there are a lot of rage filled, panicky Xbox owners looking at the Ps5 Pro as potentially the last nail in the proverbial coffin of Xbox. PS6 is rumored to be releasing later than the supposed next Xbox. There are also panicky people that aren’t even Xbox fans/owners that don’t want to see Xbox consoles go away. I believe someone that doesn’t want Xbox to go away planted this false rumor in an attempt to erode the evolving and more positive mindshare of the PS5 Pro hoping that it will encourage some people to either put off or cancel their PS5 Pro orders. I don’t think it’s going to work because people know Sony is more risk averse maybe than ever and they just wouldn’t do this and especially not while promoting the PS5 Pro.
Ps6 Pro Refresh in 2032 so anyone getting a Base PS6 in 2028 be prepared for that...history repeats itself due from not learning the mistake before. edit: Sony Exclusives need to start coming to PC within a year more profit and it's not really hurting the console...since the first 6 months is what matters.

That's on the game, NOT you. Properly written games adjust to the player. This goes back a LONG time. Play doom deliberately being a complete loser, work at doing it badly. In not much time the skill of the monsters will degrade to the point of shooting 1/4th as often in random direction while they bounce off walls like a drunk Roomba. Most games could easily destroy most players, but deliberately start at a skill level for a typical player and get easier or harder until it reaches a level that matches the player modified by the games difficulty setting.

Sony's plan to win next gen. Lose 100-300 million dollars a game making DEI games under the clown who took over from Guerilla. Good luck with that Sony. I'm sure people will line up to play a female Samurai in a hijacked series, the next Concord like flop Fairgame$ and the worst idea I've ever heard of, an online Horizon MMO. Can't forget that the last Spiderman sold HALF as much as the first game and did irreparable damage to the series or that Neil Druckmann keeps burning money on games that can't even make it past the design stage because ND realizes they would lose more than they would make and that the studio is dead without the people Neil pushed out and screwed over on show and movie rights (Straley and Hennig). Maybe they can offset the losses with garbage controllers that are designed to break with drift every month instead of every 6 months. Sony is 100 percent going to go broke. They have nothing to gain from having a console like MS does. This isn't pre South Korea electronics that put Sony in the dirt. The key to Playstation was good games that they are no longer capable of making and Asian titles which no longer need Sony and are multiplat. MS wins by Direct X existing. They lose a couple billion on their stupid console and make 100 billion on their stupid OS. If Sony goes under MS won't even make a stupid Xbox. They will just license it for cheap money as a dumb sticker on prebuilts.

When ps6 with ARM cpus? I doubt TVs will go beyond HF 120hrz in the next 4 years. So energy efficient chips to lower costs and that targets 120fps ❤
If they are still using the ryzen 3000 series CPU’s! They need a special 3d variant
Ps6 hardware is not out yet so it’s impossible to show a ps6 demo. Sony don’t do half ass nonsense.
And put a 6900xt as the gpu in the new PlayStation
2028: Could be RDNA 5 on a N2P node.
RDNA5 will be UDNA or something new developed for Instinct GPUs
RTX5000 series use Blackwell architecture developed for GB200 super-computer
it's not a real PS6, just an approximate version of it based off of available hardware.
if real silicon sample is already available, then we're looking at a launch within a year coz that's how tight the timeline are for silicon developments.
which i highly doubt as PS5 Pro just came out i the market.
Sony will obviously win next gen.
It is total bs as we have no idea what ps5 is capable of other than perf and res let alone ps6 demo.
Hum…..😒…..Paul? "Sony made the right call"? They ended up cutting off two cores of their precious and most defective ships 🫤🤨.The delays on production forced the hand of sony who add to deliver its PlayStation 5 by planes to merica….a most costly endeavor.Perhaps you missed the part that says that yer ps5 is weaker then originally intended? Paul?
If there are no new games don't launch 😤
Does this plan revolve around making better games? 🤔
The industry is heading off a cliff, putting so much trust in Sony/MS's methodology.
Didnt digital foundry debunk this?. A prototype pS6 in 2024? with the best that amd has now?. That would be weak in 2027/2028
PS5 was weak 2021.
What AMD has for sale is usually a good 3 years or so behind the prototypes they have in the lab though. Still too early for a PS6 chip though
this is last gen for me gta6 will be my last game by choice ive had 40 years of fantastic gaming after playing black myth wukong i realised i suck now i got my azz handed to me so much i quit the game............ ive never done that lmfao its not that it was hard i just didnt care to learn, the art has always been the lure so i will still be looking in marvelling at new innovation as computers get more powerful. alots changed since ik+ and renegade
I hear you and I was the same, mostly. But you know what really ignited things for me again... Good VR. Reminds me of the innovations in gameplay and experiencing new worlds relative to when the PS1 released in Japan and seeing things like Ridge Racer for on a home console or Mario 64 for the first time.
@@ILoveUEVR batman looks cool

Sony is going to win especially if the reduce the price of PS6 but for that we have at least three years for that or we don't have to much time😈.
Now we live in the era of the 5pro the one console that redifines the whole console's industry and basically sony with this one is writing history.

Unless Microsoft shocks us in 2 years, Sony's probably in no rush to get to the PS6. They're still struggling to get people to notice the difference between PS4 and PS5. So we're expecting 2028, but it might be 2029 or later
