That was one of the craziest come backs I’ve ever seen in any sport! Mariners never took their eyes off the prize even when down 8 runs, what a performance!
On this date in 1995, the Mariners won the ALDS with "The Double" by Edgar Martinez. This team made history again with an absolutely improbable comeback. I'm not going to lie, I thought this game was over when it was 8-1 (as many fans probably did) but as Rick Rizzs always points out, this team never gives up. "The Cardiac Kids" did it again and we're off to play the Houston Astros. I hope we sweep them too! Let's go Mariners!
Man, what an amazing comeback win! And to think most people were predicting us to get knocked out in the first round. NEVER underestimate Seattle. The best thing about this? Mariners did all they could to make sure fans would be able to watch a playoff game at home :D And Jays fans, I really hope Springer isn't too injured. That collision looked ugly and I hate to see a player being carted off, that's the worst. Glad to see at least Bichette is doing okay though. Good luck in the offseason, you guys have a scary lineup.
Nobody underestimated Seattle. They gave up 8 runs in 5 innings. Underperforming Jays staff and stupid defense is what gave the game away. I hope the Mariners give Houston what for, don't want that team winning anything for a while.
@@lenmetallica By underestimating them, what I meant is almost everything I read on TH-cam comments or heard on programs like MLB Network, most people were predicting the Blue Jays to knock the Mariners out in the first round before the WC round even started. So yes, people have been underestimating Seattle.
@@lenmetallica literally almost everyone from that 2017 Astros squad is gone lol. Correa, Springer, Gonzales, Keuchel, McCann, Beltran, Fisher, Morton, and Marisnick are all gone. All that’s left is Verlander, Bregman, and Gurriel (who is probably gonna be gone after this season too). Altuve doesn’t count cause he didn’t participate along with Reddick and Kemp. The Astros squad is mainly just young players. Tucker, Alvarez, Peña, Valdez, and Garcia are all young guys.
I am not a Mariners fan but oh how I loved watching what they did to the Blue Jays. Vladimir Guerrero Sr. was one of the best ballplayers I ever saw. He was a quiet assassin and carried himself with great dignity. His son is the total opposite. He's extremely talented but makes it so easy to root against him. Seeing him dejected like that is a sight I hope to see more of. LOL!!! Seattle has it going. They are an entertaining team to watch. And how about their dance at the end, Vlad? Enjoy that? 😂
How dare a kid have some fun. He makes some pretty stupid comments in hindsight, but ur just a loser for hating on a young star for celebrating in the post season.
I worked as an Usher last night at the Rogers Centre and let me tell you that it was so heartbreaking and soul crushing to see us f**king lose it all when we had it! I saw grown men & little boys crying as they were leaving, something I will not forget anytime soon. I was there when the Blue Jays won both World Series games in 1992/1993 and what they did last night to me was NOT play baseball. I believe they got over confident and took their focus off the game & that is what made them lose, not to mention switching up pitchers!
Ohh my God!!! I just can’t believe this ! I feel so bad for the Blue Jays! They had such brilliant season and lost it just like that ! What a tragedy my goodness !
@@GitzenShiggles If that was true, ALL of baseball would have players injured that way, because ALL of the teams were electronically stealing signs in 2017. It is well known throughout baseball that all of MLB was cheating then.
I'm glad that they don't. Keep the highlights to just the highlights (because some runs really aren't highlights), and keep it (generally) under ten minutes, usually closer to seven minutes. Perfect for me.
@@douglei4413 Every run counts, but not every run is important enough to be considered a highlight, especially when MLB is trying to keep it as a short highlights package. You want every run, watch the whole game. Or watch someone else's unofficial "highlights" that include plays (like every run) that are not necessarily highlights.
@@martyklestadt6766 I shouldn't have to watch two or three separate highlights just to see how the mariners score their first run. And speaking of time limit, they show vlad's home run with 3 different angles which is not necessary.
@@douglei4413 I agree that they could have edited the Vlad HR more efficiently--there isn't a time limit per se. Those first 5 2/3 innings were a disaster... until that pitching change. Should have let Gausman finish that inning cos the Mariners needed that spark. Great comeback, Seattle! 🎉
The coach needs to be fired for that bone headed move. THAT cost them the game and I called it when it happened. I said this game is over. Jays have ZERO heart and should repay all their fans who paid a lot of money to have to sit through that debacle!
Hindsight is 20/20. They felt they had the game in hand (for good reason.) lots of people are saying the Blue Jays choked. As a Mariners fan I don’t see it that way. The Jays took advantage of a lot of mistakes early. We took advantage of a lot of mistakes late - and got a little luck with JP’s perfectly placed flair. Our bullpen was shaky, but ultimately made fewer mistakes in the last few innings. The Blue Jays are a stacked team. When your entire season comes down to one game, it’s tempting to hyper scrutinize and make rash decisions based on that one game, but if this game came in the middle of the season, nobody would be calling for the firing of anybody. It would just be an ugly loss that you have to move on from.
@@The_Mister Rational statement but... Toronto blew an 8-1 lead. No amount of mistakes can soften such a meltdown. Blue Jays simply got too full of themselves and "choked"
As a Blue Jays fan I suffered pretty much through the whole game from the 6th inning onward but congratulations to the Mariners! I hope they can make a deep run!
As a Jays fan, but more importantly a Toronto sports fan; can not say I am surprised. That being said I hope Seattle defeats the Stros and either they or Cleveland win it all
Terrible mistake by the Blue Jays manager to take Guasman out of the game at that time this loss is on him, sure the players are the ones in the field playing but he changed the momentum of the game with that move, even the announcers were questioning it. I'm an Atlanta Braves fan in Atlanta but still watching all the playoff games.
I agree, you NEVER pull a pitcher when he is holding down their offense like that. This game is absolutely on the Manager ofcourse that bone headed play by Bichette running into Springer sealed the L for them imo.
oh man!! I've been a Jays fan for 40 years and could not believe they blew a 7-run lead. But then again, you gotta love baseball... may we lick our wounds and try again...

I'm still so proud of the Jays! Losing the series happens....they will come around! Good job and great entertainment Team! No complaints from this fan! Let's Go Blue Jays! Love from Newfoundland!
Honestly we didn’t deserve it anyway, kikuchi was given way too many chances, we have 1 decent closer but he only has 2 pitches, everyone else in the pen is filler, why don’t we have a guy with a 100+ fastball like it seems every other team does? We don’t need position players to replace our regulars in the 8th when we’re winning, instead we got Mitch white, and a bunch of other bums we dfa’d after a few starts, management dropped the ball hard this season
He was at 95 pitches and allowed the bases to get loaded on 3 consecutive hits. Regardless of getting the next 2 outs, you manage to not let the game get out of control when your starter is getting timed up. If he gives up a grand slam, all the Jays fans would’ve been up in arms. It’s a double edged sword for managers. Plus, if your bullpen can’t protect a 7 run lead with 10 outs to go, you don’t deserve to win. I believe Toronto’s pitching staff is overrated.
That’s my man from the Royals, Carlos Santana! He was my favorite CLUTCH hitter for KC, but then we trashed him for a minor-leaguer and I’ve been watching his Seattle highlights ever since. I know you like Ty France, but I watch to see Santana play!
AMAZING GAME! Watching the highlights even deflated Mariners fans having all those runs just come in like that then Mariners chip away at it, what a great team they have this year! Mariners have always had a great team but the MLB have had a few teams just dominate the game, Houston being one of those dominate team the last 12-15 years so it would be really nice to see the Mariners continue to keep the rally going and just keep getting contact there up at the plate and not doing too much just like that sweet 3 run clutch homer!
And this, ladies and gents, is what makes baseball great. No clocks, the winning team needs to get 27 outs, regardless of the score.
'And that's why Baseball is the greatest game in the world. The other guy gets his at BATS! Ain't like football, where you can just run it into the line three times and run out the clock.'

Been a fan since '95, when I lived in Seattle (And what a year to be a fan!) Then there were the 2001 Mariners, who were ridiculously good in the regular season, but I was a nervous wreck watching them in the playoffs. The 2022 Mariners remind me more of the '95 Mariners (scrappy, confident, coming together as a whole club of players who somehow find a way to win, even in the most "hopeless" of circumstances.) Go M's. REFUSE TO LOSE 2022!!!
Exactly
The last 21 years have been painful, and finally winning a series is a start.
But at the same time, they have to get over the hump sometime in this lifetime
The first 6 minutes of this highlight for Toronto is like the first hour of Titanic, so magical and romantic and hopeful. Buuuut we all know how that movie ends.
The day will live forever in Mariners history. Let’s make more history this month! Go M's
It was also the anniversary of Edgar Martinez hitting the Double in 1995 too
The Blue Jays have become the Maple Leafs
I mean I don’t remember the leafs blowing that big of a lead 😂😂😂
@@noahgladu1961.... they blew a 3-1 series lead
@@noahgladu1961 …they blew a 4-1 lead in the 3rd period of a game 7

@@vista_stic8138 fax but I mean they haven’t had a lead where they where 8-1 ik it’s baseball and not hockey but still a big lead it was actually 9-1 at one point but leafs are talented but last season was a win for me anyways
Just wow.... I was at the game against Atlanta when we damn near blew it but came back in the 9th, that was an amazing game... But this, this is magic.
Love that they do a curtain call for Teoscar too early in the game and then blow it
To be fair he did deserve the curtain call. Wasn't his fault that the team lost the game.
Haha them crazy drunk blue jays fans deserved this L
I can't hate them for that. If you hit a home run in the playoffs, you should celebrate that as much as you want.
😂
Yeah that was stupid. You’re down in the series and the game isn’t over. No curtain call needed.
I remember all the blue jays fans sayin this was an easy sweep. You could say they were right 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mariners are losing against Houston
@@bokchoyboi_2724 eh maybe maybe not
They are delusional the blue jays choked for the last decade the team had potential but it's always the bullpens fault until they realize this they won't win, im a blue jays fan but they stood no chance they barely had any good stretch of baseball for the season.
@@dystopia6726 I mean if gausmann stayed in the game then you most likely would’ve won
It wasn’t a easy sweep for Seattle
As an Angels fan, that was an incredible comeback!
Springer and bichette running into eachother has to be one of the funnest plays ever 😂
You mean - " cardiac ".
To quote a Mariner Legend "My oh My, it just continues!"
reading this I heard his voice speaking those words. brings a tear. I miss Dave
Dave would’ve been so proud. ☺️
@@hutchinson54 he is proud, wherever his spirit is.
God, I miss Dave. Remembering his voice brings a tear to my eye.
Man, what an amazing comeback win! And to think most people were predicting us to get knocked out in the first round. NEVER underestimate Seattle.
The best thing about this? Mariners did all they could to make sure fans would be able to watch a playoff game at home :D
And Jays fans, I really hope Springer isn't too injured.
Will never forget this game
I could literally watch this game every year and still be amazed 😂😂😂
Wow the Blue Jays blew a 8-1 lead but there's no time limit in baseball so a lot of times you can't say the game is over yet until it's really over.
How heartbreaking for the Blue Jays. Imagine blowing that lead.
Atlanta Falcons fan can relate
MAPLE LEAFS
Yankees blew a 3 to 0 lead in games. It happens unfortunately, baseball more than others
@@hebronharvester1487 That was the only time that 3-0 blown lead ever happened though
@@RYMAN1321 I know but its a little different than blowing an 8 and 0 lead in a single game. Maybe that's what you are trying to say...I don't know
I worked as an Usher last night at the Rogers Centre and let me tell you that it was so heartbreaking and soul crushing to see us f**king lose it all when we had it!
I thought about turning my tv off at 8-1 but something told me not too I’m so glad love the mariners ❤️
Cal is a top 5 catcher in baseball. Lets go big dumper!!!!
Ohh my God!!! I just can’t believe this ! I feel so bad for the Blue Jays! They had such brilliant season and lost it just like that ! What a tragedy my goodness !
I’m literally so hyped for both the Mariners and the Seahawks next seasons!! Bunch of guys putting together something magical. Go Hawks and Go M’s!
I REALLY hope Springer will be okay. Best wishes and prayers go out for him
Karma for cheating in 2017.
@@GitzenShiggles Bro he played super good this season just got hurt and saying he deserves it
@@GitzenShiggles exactly I hope it happens to the Astros if they lose to the Mariners or any other team in the postseason.
@@williamissofabulous lol
@@GitzenShiggles If that was true, ALL of baseball would have players injured that way, because ALL of the teams were electronically stealing signs in 2017. It is well known throughout baseball that all of MLB was cheating then.
On this day in 1995, the Mariners defeated the Yankees in game 5 of the 1995 ALDS.
27 years later, and the Mariners STILL REFUSE TO LOSE!!!
This is what is called a winning mentality, this is what it makes this game so beautiful #MLB
This was absolutely unreal
Santana was a great pick up for the Ms in the middle of the season, just wow
Huge pick up. If I remember M's got him to help out with France being hurt. Crazy how things work out.
Santana doesn’t hit that 3 run jack, mariners wouldn’t make come back. That HR gave the M’s confidence
Seattle is freaking incredible!! Hope y’all get far! I want to see Ichiro get a ring and the logo will probably look sick on the ring 🤩
I stayed up ' till 3 am to watch my jays blow a 8-1 lead.. P A I N. Congrats to the M' s, they kept fighting and I hope they can go all the way!
man, what a ball game. I wish MLB would post all of the highlights of EVERY run.
I'm glad that they don't. Keep the highlights to just the highlights (because some runs really aren't highlights), and keep it (generally) under ten minutes, usually closer to seven minutes. Perfect for me.
Every run counts, so they should show them all
@@douglei4413 Every run counts, but not every run is important enough to be considered a highlight, especially when MLB is trying to keep it as a short highlights package.
And you don't have to watch two or three separate highlights--just the one that is the longest so you won't miss anything YOU think is important. Don't watch the MLB one if it's too short for your tastes.
Amazing comeback, Mariners! GG to the Blue Jays.
On to Houston.
It was an historical game 😲! Felicidades a los Seattle Mariners 🎉🎂👍
What a comeback!!!! Playoff baseball is so fun! And stressful!!! Go M's!!!!!
Props to the Seattle Mariners for gettin into the playoffs and advancing yall are shocking folks especially me because it was a tight race for yall the whole season to make playoffs I know fasho because I was working yalls games for most of your season; and shout out to the hire quest Seattle office for giving me the opportunity to work those Mariners games it was very much appreciated!
@@scott7621 Reminiscent of when Buck gave the ball to Ubaldo Jimenez in 2016 Wild Card.
My O's haven't been the same since 🤷🏾♂️
Hindsight is 20/20.
@@The_Mister This is the most rational assessment ive seen in the comment section, agree 100%.
@@The_Mister Rational statement but... Toronto blew an 8-1 lead. No amount of mistakes can soften such a meltdown.
Blue Jays simply got too full of themselves and "choked"
My absolute favorite game ever as a mariners fan
Feel terrible for Toronto, especially Springer, but good job Mariners! Keep winning!
The leafs have prepared us for this the last like 10 years lol
As a Blue Jays fan I suffered pretty much through the whole game from the 6th inning onward but congratulations to the Mariners! I hope they can make a deep run!
gg man hope springer is ok
As a Jays fan, but more importantly a Toronto sports fan; can not say I am surprised. That being said I hope Seattle defeats the Stros and either they or Cleveland win it all
As a Giants fan, this was probably the best game I've watched that didn't involve my team
Congrats mariners fans from a Phillies fan this feels GREAT RN
I'm no Mariners fan, but I sure was today...the looks on the Jays fans' faces were so great to see...couldn't have happened to a better fanbase!!!
Just try doing that against our pitching, Seattles little fantasy ride will come to a screeching halt in Htown 😎
Hometown Astros fan here. That's gonna sting for a while. The Jays had 'em against the ropes. Heck of a ball game! See you in Houston!
gotta love seeing this type of comeback at an away game for high stakes
GREAT job running up Gausman's pitch count with some patient at bats. His splitter was filthy today.
I have goosebumps watching this whole highlights.
The Seattle Mariners are definitely a passionate young team and a force to be reckoned with!
I love this team!
Go Mariners!
Sea Us Rise!
Gausman being pulled was the biggest fumble in bluejay history
Nice call pulling the starter. Absolutely killing it and in the zone. That pretty much ruined the American League side of the playoffs for me
You're not interested in watching the Guards sweep the Yankees?
I randomly decided to watch this to see what was going on in the MLB playoffs. Glad I didn't skip to the end and look for game 3!
Gotta give a shoutout to the rally shoe. It has been enshrined in the Mariners Hall of Fame.
Wow, That is baseball, down to every game every inning. Congrats to Mariners, Play Ball!
the most unbelievable comeback in my life
Wow. You don’t see that every day. Unbelievable comeback
Depending on your view, this is the best comeback or the worst choke ever.
A bit of both.
Mariners had to have the will to come back but the Blue Jays literally had the Mariners on the ropes till that 6 inning
BAD GAME Management.....pulling your ace with a 7 run lead....?????
I'm still so proud of the Jays! Losing the series happens....they will come around! Good job and great entertainment Team! No complaints from this fan! Let's Go Blue Jays! Love from Newfoundland!
blue jays fans are really really good for the postseason, shame they couldnt make a run but seattle is going to be huge
That's the best I've seen Carlos Santana perform since Woodstock. I really like multi-sports stars.
As I see it, the manager who altered the flow of success initiated the negative flow of circumstances. Such is life!
LETS GO Ms this just shows you never ever ever give up not in baseball not in life not in anything always FIGHT!!!!! Let’s go Ms
Not a mariners fan, but what a come back!! Good luck Seattle
I bet there's a lot of Jays fans who are asking why they had to pull Gausman when they did.
Maybe they wanted to save his arm for the next series...😁
Unreal comeback! Unbelievable. Just... Unbelievable.
All I got to say is wow how could you not love baseball sheesh that's a beautiful game
We’ve waited a long time for this! Bring it on, HOU!!!
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR....
Man, even the Maple Leaves didn't choke this badly
What a unbelievable game . A good game in which both the Mariners and the Blue Jays did their best
がんばってMariners!!!
