These things are so reclusive. Over 20+ years of living in the Mojave desert and I only saw one. He was massive and decided to hang out at my parents' house for a few days. We found him chilling out in the garage underneath our car. It was really hot that summer. He hung out in our front yard eating the grass and we gave him water. Then one day he was gone. :( Kinda wish we caged him in, lol. He had to of been 30-50 years old, he was that big.

I was just wondering, is it possible the tortoise are getting the avian flu from the crows and ravens out there?

About 20 years ago I was hiking on an old road in Red Rock Canyon north of Mojave. A tortoise was headed my way about 60 feet from me. I stood still and he came under me and stopped. He was sitting there for about 5 minutes till I moved. He suddenly pulled in his head and legs which made a loud hissing sound of air. I moved about 15 feet from him and after a half minute he moved about 15 feet and started eating the new spring growth. I made soup out of him. JUST KIDDING!

@@dazedduckling1200 Genesis chapter 1 verse 1: " in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". Verse 24- " then God said, " let the earth bring forth the living creature according to it's kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to it's kind and it was so. Verse 25- "and God made the beast of the field according to it's kind. Cattle according to it's kind and every creeping thing according to it's kind and God saw that it was good. (Verse 26, God created man). Drop to chapter 2 verses 1 and 2: "thus the heavens and the earth , and all the host of them, were finished.and on the seventh day, God ended HIS work which HE had done, and HE rested on the seventh day from all HIS work which he had done".
I strongly suggest you find a church that teaches the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse. I recommend the teaching series of Dr.Tony Evans or Chuck Smith, the founder of Calvary Chapel.
