Brian and Jason have always wondered what it actually takes to wipe the slate clean and start over, so after a little digging they break down the core essentials.
We say it in the episode, but just so we're entirely clear here: it's hella illegal to steal anyone's identity, even if they're now a ghost themselves. Just be yourself on this one, you do you.

You can do something similar and legally if you join the French Foreign Legion. So long as you're not wanted by Interpol or committed a crime like murder you can get in. After 5 ish years of service you get a new citizenship and new name :) just in case anyone is thinking of doing something different or wants to disappear.

I didn't even bother to watch the video, because I know the answer to this one straight away. Ghosting is when you do a really, really horrendous poop and it stinks to high hell. You flush it, but the smell lingers for a good half an hour, "ghosting" in the bathroom as if the turd is still in there somewhere.

There is a way to search social security numbers and find out if the person is deceased or not. So that might be one roadblock. Especially if you have to get a thorough background check or something. But If the person has a death certificate, getting a social for that same person would probably be difficult these days given it is all kept in a database.

As an employee at a retail store we have specific rules for quantities of gift card purchases for that exact reason. We cannot, for any reason, sell someone more than a certain dollar amount in gift cards. The corporation recently got a warning from a law enforcement agency that some of our stores were selling such huge quantities of gift cards that they noticed and the company could be prosecuted for aiding and abetting money laundering if they knew it wasn't on the up and up.

I'm not sure how easy it is in other countries, but around here the drug dealers launder their money by buying scratch cards at kiosks. It's supposed to be more costly, but a lot easier to pull off than other methods.

That you are not trying to loot their bank account does not make anything other than identity theft. If you use someone else's identity for ANY reason it is identity theft.

www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2016/03/14/why-your-fingerprints-may-not-be-unique/ There's no scientific reason to think that fingerprints are unique although it is highly unlikely given fingerprinting technology. It basically comes down to how accurately you record the fingerprints initially.

Too bad the SSA has a master death file. If someone dies, their SSN is noted as dead. If that person is still alive, their bank accounts become frozen, their credit cards are cancelled, their credit doesn't work, they can't get insurance, and thousand other important functions, and they have to go to cash only until the master death file is corrected and all of the things correct the error. It is very stressful and highly inconvenient, to the point a person might actually die from treatable health issues like diabetes.

When taking an ID,pour some superglue on your fingers.
If you get caught red handed, there is no way you are getting out,but if there is no evidences than your fingerprints, you are good to go.
Also,as DNA is acid, could it be neutralized with base, thus stoping them from DNA matching blood drops?
