Cracking show.. On the pedigree dog breeds. I remember having a heated discussion with a dog lover, with plenty of experience owning them. I said (to paraphrase) "I don't like the idea of crufts.. It can encourage inbreeding and unhealthy dogs as a result" This woman went off on me! She went crazy.. Questioning my experience and knowledge. I had about 20 years experience, and my knowledge about breeding isn't the best. Because it's not my job. And nor was it hers. But I said (because this was soon after the BBC dropped Crufts, for the reasons stated above) "so, that's why BBC still broadcast it? Oh... wait..."
Excellent episode again...lots of things to note from my point of view... Always think of dogs who have been abandoned and been put into the pound. How stressful must that be! Harness - I tried a harness with my lab when she was a puppy to try to stop pulling.... It didn't and it actually made her stronger 😢 Crufts - totally agree about breed specification. GS with awful back legs as Danny said. One year a yellow Lab won best in group and went through to best in show but in my view he was very over weight.. Not good for a big dog. Then there are over sized ears on Bassetts and flat faced dogs... Etc etc. It's not right! BTW love the jurassic park impressions at the start 😂
Another good episode. My OH is a postie and regularly sees lonely dogs. Eg the owner’s at home but their dog is locked in an outside kennel. The dog is desperate for affection. Breaks his heart seeing that. Why have a dog? I’ve nothing against kennels, mine have one, but as social creatures dogs need human interaction.
Thank you! Very interested to hear about the stress. One of my dogs has Addison’s. He’s had it since he was 2.5 and is now 10.5, doing well on his medication. I have to be aware of anything that might cause him extra stress.
Cruft's destroyed the GSD, I love GSD but with the hip issues and prices for a good one (health checked etc), I would be very cautious about getting one now because my last one died at just 6 from hip dysplasia!! Crufts also had a Malinois with a docked tail compete in 2019 (i think) despite it being against their own rules. such double standards.
So right Danny bout gsd at crufts , it's so cruel....😢..just love these every Sunday.

My working line Shepherd looks nothing like a show line you would see at Crufts. She closely resembles the early 20th Century Shepherds.
Thank god I just found this channel! loooooooooove!!! Dogs and Psychology!? GOLD
16:48 I hate this so much.
Great podcast once again. Some subjects I have to mention most days I train,Harnesses, leads with elastic in them, the designer dog subject. Thanks all.

So stressful home life affects the dog.😢

I have a question 🙋♀️ do Danny and Jamie need to be put in Jurassic World 🗺️ 😅😂🦖🦎🐊🦖🦖
"I don't want to ever see a white coat" - why don't you just push through it, Jamie?
So... Dannys dog died of a heart attack...
