Put your pump in a grow basket. That will filter a bit. Get some anti algae treatment from your pet shop.

The pond is about 31/2 feet deep :) in one area, the ducks seem to leave them alone

You need to wear water proof arm length gloves for that job. You are liable to get infected from the duck poo.
