    The string taped to a quarter works better with finer thread (if it's going to work at all). It used to be really easy to use on video games until the coin mechs were updated with cutters and/or one way gates that wouldn't register the credit until the coin was past that point and then you couldn't pull it back out. A number of them now also have magnets to stop the use of steel slugs.
    Here's one that I've heard can work. Necco Wafers. Kind of a crappy thing to do because it likely makes the collection area totally disgusting if there's any humidity.

      I wouldn’t recommend that.
      The glue coin would ether get stuck in the coin mechanism and cause a jam. Or it would fall through the mechanism but coat it with sticky glue and that could cause all sorts of jams and issues!
      And I’m imagining that the cleaning/repair of the coin mechanism would be ether long and complicated, or expensive!
      If you ARE going to cheat anyway then just use a fake coin like a token or something, cause at least then you aren’t damaging the coin mechanism for the owner/operator.
      And i would think that most owners/operators would rather lose a couple dollars to fake coins than having to replace the whole coin mechanism! Just because you had the 100 IQ idea to squirt a tube of superglue in the coin slot!

    I've found tokens in my machines before. I always test them to see if they work, and I've never had one work due to them being small enough to fall through the drop through mech. I've also found tooth picks and pieces of paper the size of a quarter before. I'm pretty sure the people putting tooth picks in were just using my machine as a trash can lol.

    When I was a kid we would smash nickels into the size of a quarters!! Also drill a whole into a quarter and tie it to a string and drop it into arcade game to the point where we can pull it back just enough where can get credits and drop it back down and up continuously!!

  • @MatthewFordVictoria
    @MatthewFordVictoria 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The string idea works if you put string on both sides of the coin, so that when you try to pull it out, it doesn't tip over from being pulled on one side and getting stuck. Also it works best if you you use Fishing line. Fold a long piece of fishing line in half, then put the coin in that loop and tape it so there's a piece of fishing line on each side. Tie the ends together and use that knotted end for pulling the coin out.

    Can you get all of the gum balls out of the machine by putting glue on either the slug or cardboard quarter and getting it stuck in the reciever?

  • @WarhavenSC
    @WarhavenSC ปีที่แล้ว

    2:46 -- Actually, even if the cardboard quarter is cut perfectly to size, it shouldn't work on standard coin mech since those are typically triggered based on coin weight.
    3:42 -- If something other than a quarter is giving credits, it means you need calibrate your coin mech. Unless the token/slug is the exact same size and weight as a quarter, it shouldn't trigger the coin mech's credit. There's an adjustable screw you can tweak for it to accept specific coin weights. This'll keep people from using non-quarters in your machines (unless you want them to use tokens, I mean).

    One of my friends actually owns a coin operated arcade game. (I think it was the one where you stack blocks to build a tower?) and he tried many of these coin hacks. Most of them didn’t work but just like you tested the machine does except metal coin like substitutes.
    My friend actually used that fact and made his one token coins for his machine that he gives to his friends whenever they visit!
    Apparently there are some kinds of digital coin readers that won’t get tricked by fake coins but they tend to be specially made mechanisms or they use cameras to verify the coins.
    For 95% of all coin operated machines the fake metal coins work. As long as they are the same size and thickness they will work.

      I mean “technically” it is.
      But I don’t really think that we should get mad at a kid for stealing a 10 cent gum ball using cardboard!
      Remember that 95% of the time it’s kids and teens who are doing this stuff and not adults. And it’s a fact that kids and teens will do stupid things like this. It’s part of growing up.
      We all did something that was “technically” illegal growing up. But in the end it’s not that serious of a crime.
      But just imagine if you go to prison and the guy next to you that murdered like 5 people asked why you were in prison and you respond with “I stole a 10 cent gum ball using a fake cardboard coin”😂😂😂

      It’s on the internet anyway.
      Although I doubt that it’s a MAJOR issue for operators of arcade machines.
      In the grand scheme of things you probably only lose a few dollars per service cycle if even that much.
      If you did have one particular machine that this happens to a lot then it’s probably time to move it to a different location or you could temporarily put it out of order and in a couple weeks or months it should be fine to open again.
      Remember that most of the time the people that would be cheating these machines would be kids or teenagers and not adults. So you can’t really be that upset about it and it’s just part of the business with running these types of machines.
      I guess if it did get really bad you could ask the staff at whatever store or mall or whatever location the machines are at to keep an eye out for suspicious activity around the machines.
      But if it actually was a MAJOR problem and cost operators a lot of money then it probably would been fixed with better coin mechanisms years ago because this information isn’t exactly new and has existed for decades at this point.

    That vendor token is also non-magnetic like a quarter... that's why it worked. And it's not a good example of a 'hack' because it's too close in material and weight to a quarter.
    I'd like to have seen you do this with a slug.
