Instead of wiring it to female usb , does it fit if I directly solder it into a usbdrive(only the board) and put it inside the vita? If so how bad do you think the power consumption would be?
Yes it works, power consumption is around 0.3W on this flash drive, that will empty the battery quite quickly if you leave it plugged in, hence you'd better add a switch to disconnect the +5V line for when you're not using your vita.
Someone would have to write a driver for that. I don't think there's enough of a desire from the community to do that, other factors will be limiting the vita's performance before WiFi does.

chocograph they make USB drives that are no bigger than the connector itself, besides it's still far better than Sonys expensive and prone to fail proprietary cards
well theres also the sphere solid microsd hack removing the 3g module. or the sd 2 vita which just involves putting a converter card into the game slot.
If you need more specific pictures I should still have them, but to be honest this mod isn't very useful nowadays, since you can get a cheap SD2Vita adapter and call it a day :)
@@starc2k oh ok, supposing the problem is the port itself and not the motherboard, you can solder 2 wires for +5V and GND to try providing power externally, if it works you can replace to port, or do what I did and add a micro USB one.

how come i never see anyone put movies or music on their hacked vita? i wanna know if i can put a large selection of movies on it
Slip Å Slit guess you could do it, but the Vita is kind of cumbersome as a portable video player, given the choice I'd rather use Netflix on my phone.
Yeah, I want a big USB drive hanging out of my Vita when using it....
just use a small thumb drive, this one was the only one I had free at the time I made the video
chocograph they make USB drives that are no bigger than the connector itself, besides it's still far better than Sonys expensive and prone to fail proprietary cards
these days they have very small memory sticks.. where u been hidin at choco? i love this!
well theres also the sphere solid microsd hack removing the 3g module. or the sd 2 vita which just involves putting a converter card into the game slot.
@@hdofu yup, but they weren't available back then. I use an SD2Vita adapter now, but this mod still comes in handy to transfer files in a pinch
can u share the photos u make? i want to make the same mod to my old psvita 3g
If you need more specific pictures I should still have them, but to be honest this mod isn't very useful nowadays, since you can get a cheap SD2Vita adapter and call it a day :)
@@coccoborg thanks for ur answer. the matter its not sd2vita, its charging port! my old psvita 1000 chrging port its dead
@@starc2k oh ok, supposing the problem is the port itself and not the motherboard, you can solder 2 wires for +5V and GND to try providing power externally, if it works you can replace to port, or do what I did and add a micro USB one. At 7:45 the little component with "SB" written on it is a protection fuse for the input power, just solder a red wire to it and a black one to any ground on the port :)
@@coccoborg thanks. could u send me the pictures u posted on this video? (to clarify myself)
@@starc2k yes, give me an email address :)
where to get the part
Wish I could find the pin outs for this mod. I want that USB attachment!
it's in the video! but feel free to PM me if you need details, maybe message 2-3 times as I tend to miss messages on YT
Mod GPU for More fps
Parts list with links?
is there any chance to put a hdmi mod to a psvita?
sadly, no. Video output is nonexistent on the pcb
This mod is compatible with ps vita wifi models?
unfortunately, no, but with the gamecard->microsd adapters becoming available, there will be no need for this mod :)
I beg to differ. I cannot be the only one that has a ton of physical games for the vita, this kind of mod would allow me to keep using my games and have the option to use a microsd card as ux0 for digital games. What I would like to see is the proprietary card slot removed and replaced with a microsd one so the mod would be invisible
Wish I can do this with my vita but I’m to stupid and scared to fuck it up
Hey you forgot that Yifan lu provided the pinout I just made it easier for people and experimented soon as I saw the pinout, I got direct transfer working with the switches but soon it'll all be automatic.
Zexceil Xaros sorry, I forgot about that 😅
bravo france
Any solution
Good job but Chose usb drive mor tiny not so big
Can I just use a female to female usb cable?
Link for mod apk not working
I know, that's because new vitashell now supports this by default!
Nice~
But I'll stick with 16gb.
Is it safe
Buen video
Can't you just yank it out?
Noice!
I wish there was a simple instructional video for an idiot like me to follow step by step :(
Brilliant video, though :)
I know, wish I could have done that, but it'd have taken a lot of effort, plus it's not easy even with a full tutorial
Change a ps vita 2000 to a type-c. That would be lovely.
I'm currently trying to figure out how to do this properly on a 1000 model. Thus far my type c port only allows me to charge other devices with the vita main charger plugged in. Cool, but not what I'm wanting.
That's what I want to do, so I can have the peace of mind that it will plug in regardless of the direction of the mini connector thus making a stronger & more firm tighter connection.
What i want to see is removed that vita card slot and replace it with micro sd slot that would be nice.
only good mod for that is bigger storage cards.
Please teach me how
Only work in Vita with 3G? :( and vita wifi?
Marium Narvía yup, only Vita 3g, sorry
Thanks, although I tried anyway unsuccessfully jeje :P Congratulations, very very nice mod :D
i wait you for HENkaku EnsO! you make a video about?
Sei italiano
sì!
i like it bra can you help me with my one please am looking fo change
the link dropbox is trash
Sorry about that, must have broken it reorganizing my folders some time ago. On the plus side the regular release of the software now supports USB out of the box!
Sick FK
Imposible for us dude to do a diy like that. 😀
We just an amateur
well, start with something easier and work your way up! I'm an amateur as well :)
What would Sony think about that, is it legal ?
It's not illegal to do this, so long as you don't pirate games. It may be ruled illegal in the future, but for now, if you own the device, nobody is going to explicitly stop you from doing this.
The device is mine, I can do whatever I want to it, for the time being at least.
