Hey Dan , just an LOL for the heck of it. At the beginning of the video I could have sworn that you were Dave Canterbury walking up through the woods , with your pack , bedroll and gun. If just reminded me of the way Dave's videos start out. Great information though , I really like the way you carry the axe.
Ànd watch out for widow makers. Don't sleep near leaning and dead trees that about to fall . The wool blanket makes alot of sence because it takes more than a spark from the fire for it to catch fire . Stuff like nylon can ignite so quicky and people under it can burn .
I don't even bother with trying to find dedicated sleeping bag/bedroll straps to fit my requirements; it's simply too hard. I just use good old-fashioned leather belts, and that works just dandy for me.

Nah !!! I don’t think I’ll subscribe to this guy. This guys got nothing on corporals corner , self reliance school of Bushcraft. He was showing how he packs his bedroll , took out his axe , then when he was packing everything back in there to roll it back up , he didn’t even include his axe , but he packed everything else back in there before rolling it up , why not the axe , just saying !!! P.S. I’m pretty sure he should of had that gun of he’s cocked for safety reasons as well. Nah i don’t think i could trust this bloke , he’d probably end up accidentally shooting ya…. !!!
Yeah, I might hike through the woods with a monstrosity like that hanging off me. Ridiculous. My entire pack for a multi-day trip would be small then that bedroll. This would be something you'd have in your truck, not on your body. This guy's a wannabe and is just either spouting shit or regurgitating other people's ideas. Unworthy!
Fantastic! After watching this I purchased a wool blanket, and slept outside to try it out and it worked just fine!! Thank you!!!
Yes wool is the best
what kind of tarp do you use?
I was initially turned onto this channel from Townsend's.
Grew up in PA not too far from the Coalcracker and now live in Indiana not too far from Townsends. Love both of them!
same here. love Townsend
Me too!
Thanks for the video on your bed role set up. I enjoy watching and learning from you videos. Keep up the great work
That rifle is ridiculous. What child did you steal that from? Give that poor boy back his rifle, Dan >:(
Another cool video. I like the strap set up you have for the bedroll and the pillow case tip. Thanks bro.
Great bed, anyone notice all the gun shots in the background? Another great video. Many thanks.
See even three years ago Dave Canterbury, Joe Robinet, Paul Kirtley and MCQ Bushcraft were giving you the thumbs down, what is up with those guy's?

You were a handsome young man. lol
I keep a sheep pelt in my bed roll makes it a little heavy but its worth it when the ground is cold or damp
I need to try this.
Nice Setup dan
i'm following you channel for a time now, and i was wonderring ( yup i'm not english ) ...why these skill are not learn in the education system ?
Because these skills aren't necessary for modern life, though some field trips may teach things like these.
Also, because republicans keep gutting the education system.

That's a beautiful wool blanket, where did ya get it?
A man from Indiana hand loomed that
Coalcracker Bushcraft that's awesome!
Nice !
what do you do when you need carry a back pack too?
Most of the time a bedroll is paired with a shoulder bag to carry you're other things.
No backpack needed, Use the bedroll with a haversack or a napsack.

What do you do about mosquitoes?
Aaron Plunkett if you have bug spray on before you leave and a decent fire when you camp mosquitos aren’t an issue especially in the spring.

where did you get your king size wool blanket from?

Too heavy, too bulky and too expensive.
