OMFG my man :) been having this issue for a few weeks now and this is exactly what happened to my door too you saved me a trip to the repair shop, there was like a 1/4 inch piece of plastic in my door, that looked like a clipping off a zip tie THANK YOU FOR THIS QUICK FIX!!!!!!!!!!
Dude it worked!! This was exactly my issue. I cleaned out the handle which didn’t look dirty, I thought well I like coffee also! I sprayed it with wd40 and now fixed!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Dude I drove about 10 mins in 12° weather with my hand holding the door with the window down just to keep it from swinging on a right turn then I watch this video and found to freaking pennies stuck behind there 😂😂 omg you are a genius

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This video just saved my vacation. The passenger door on my F150 just started not latching, late in the afternoon, no service slot at the local dealer. Started looking at videos that talked about the door not latching (or opening) being a problem with freezing. Not cold at all, so that seemed odd. Then I found video with the coffee stirrer blocking the inside handle. Checked mine and low and behold there was an object holding the inside handle open! Thank you again for posting your video!

I had literally just gotten mine back from the dealer for fixing this TSB - three days later ran into this same problem, same door. Wish I would’ve found this video yesterday during the storm when trying to resolve this!
Same thing happened to mine. The door would not shut so I took it to the dealor thinking it was something easy(which it was) the idiots at the ford dealer opened the door and scratched the door! Then said it needed a new lock and could schedule it for next week. So I was upset and drove home watched the video and realized my daughter had put 3 crayons in the plastic black handle - cup holder. It was the obstructing crayon that perfectly blocked the door from shutting. …..wow I was so happy I removed the crayons and it was like new. Then I was thinking ….what if my daughter was in the passanger seat on the highway and put crayons in the holder-lever. She could have been killed. It wouldn’t take much to drop a crayon in and then the door would fly open. It’s amazing how little the dealor knows about there own f150 trucks.

Sorry I have not gotten the best way to prevent deer strikes video up. I started it but not finished. So to give you the BEST TIP EVER, use your horn!! when you see the little bastards on the side of the road waiting for you let them know you are headed their way by blowing the horn. It works great because the light blinds them but they can hear much better. I have tested it out many times and when they are on the run they will avoid you!!!
My drivers side door started doing this. I fixed it by removing the door panel and straightening out the kinked cable going to the inside handle. It was also pinched against the panel. Door works every time.
I have mentioned this problem to the dealer. I am sure some of them may take advantage and charge customers for figuring out why the door is not latching and blame the recall or even charge for other things. My dealer did not tell me this and I had to figure out the problem myself. This is also be a big safety concern considering the potential of the door not latching all the way while driving!
@@Swamy456 I did watch the video, you just have no understanding of the recall problem. This has nothing to do with water getting inside the door and freezing the lock mechanism. This is an entirely different unrelated issue. Putting a coffee stirrer in the handle has nothing to do with water getting in the door and freezing.
What makes me mad is that Ford knows you bought the vehicle they should have sent you something when they had a recall call everyone that has one to bring it back but they will not and there is only a certain amount of time that you are allowed to get it fixed within the recall.. They know this and they hope nobody finds out
There’s nothing behind my door handle. I keep my truck clean. Mine won’t close because it’s frozen. I had to run it with the heater cranked up to get it to thaw out.
I’ve got a black 2017 F150, with an aluminum body, with a deer strike in the exact same location, with a door that won’t close, bummer no coffee stirring thingy I thought I was on the right path
I have a 2010 F120 extended cab and I’m having the opposite problem, my door gets stuck and will only unlock about 1 out of five time with both the key and the inner unlock button, it unlocks with the handle just fine. I’m not 100% sure the door is closing all the way however, it doesn’t swing open or have anything stuck that I can see, kind of at a loss on what could be causing the issue, if anyone has any thoughts
My recommendation is don’t buy a Ford truck . I own a 2016 f150 Lariat, and had to have those water dams installed by the dealer ,as the door wouldn’t latch while you shut it during the winter . I hardly use the truck as I have a company vehicle for work , and only have 18,000 miles on my lariat. Now my power lock on the drivers side has issues going up , it nudges ,but sometimes won’t go up far enough . I’ve heard about lubrication issues ,but I don’t think that’s the issue . My drivers side seat belt does not retract properly, like the spring has gone dead already . My key fobs must be on the centre console in order for the truck to start , regardless of having new batteries . This is a pavement princess people , and imo a terrible excuse for a $70,000 truck . Can you imagine what’s going to go wrong in the future if there’s all these issues at 18,000 miles?

So happy you did not have to take it in for expensive repairs. I am sure the dealers have made some money off this problem.

The recall was not for anything like this problem. The recall is for water getting inside the door freezing the lock and door latch.

Check alignment first- second could be worn plastic parts. May need to take it apart as best you can to see how things ar working. Good Luck.

Is it really a "recall" or just a TSB?
There is a re-call to add water protection because water can get inside and freeze up the latch.
Put some duct tape down there.
Buy it by the case fixes everything!
