2016 F150 Door Latch Problems (Again!!)

- In this video I will show you the headache I have been dealing with. I have had this truck since summer 2016, and it first started having problems in winter 2016 so i took it to the dealership and they kept it for just shy of 30 days. They finally figured out what was causing the problem and fixed the issue. Funny enough it eventually became a recall notice as it was a large scale problem. The truck made it through last winter with no problems, and thats where it ends. The problem is back again which means another trip to the dealership. Despite all the flaws I still love the truck..

Just had mine fixed. Amazing now!! Replaced all latches and sealed :)
Tyson Kurt Took mine to the shop last week, absolutely miserable experience at the dealership. They damaged my truck and now the doors rattle
@@theaverageguy9312 I'm sorry to hear that. It's crazy that a 45,000 or more truck has these issues in the first place. When I was at the dealer, a fella was up there with his truck. He was getting water in the truck. Possibly the windshield, or door seals. Crazy either way.
They have a bulletin out 18n03 but I don’t think it is best fix,, really bad design issue very common
The Average Guy ditto, I had mine “fixed” a couple months ago, whole truck rattles now, I’ve been back 2 times for the door locks and window not working due to shotty work while they were “fixing” it.
Jane There is an Attorney in NY that has an existing Class action against Ford for this issue currently. I am planning on calling him back to see how to get a CAS in the state of MD this is crazy to have this issue on a $60,000. a vehicle with Ford knowing about it before they put the truck on the street. I agree with all post I have been seeing about the dealership so-called fixes, they do not work I have had my truck back to them 4 times. They finally said no more that is all we can do. that is Bull Sh_t Ford knows how to fix this they are just stalling because it is a very large problem. They better address this before someone get killed by the faulty door latches. Then they will really get hit where it hurts, with bad publicity and lawsuits. I like my truck but at this point, if they do not do the correct fix I will try to sell and look at other makes. NOT FORD If anyone has a dealership that figures out the correct fix please post.
Yes mine is in at the ford dealer now. They already sprayed and installed the shield over the locks. They keep my truck and have given me a rental , I’ll keep ya updated.

I know this video is old but mine started having intermittent latching issues. Found the cable behind the door panel was kinked and also wedge against the door sensor. The inside door handle only pulls the cable to release the lock, it doesn’t push it in. Any resistance will keep the cable in the open position preventing the door from closing. My door now works every time.
I just got a 17 Ford Raptor a couple weeks ago, and ran into this problem today. I just took a heat gun and warmed up the latch, and it shut.
Just bought a 2015 XL and last night it got colder ( teens - 20’s) and got to work....and bam, door wouldn’t close. Held it shut on the drive home. Called my salesman, finally talked to him at the end of the day ( I texted him at 7:00 AM this morning) and he told me he would talk to his manager and get back to me tomorrow. I’m beyond pissed. Time for anything but another Ford

I've had this issue plenty in the winter where the door won't actually unlock inside, (the pop up stays down). I used the key to manually open the door and it works. Obv this fix only works on the drivers door!
I just experienced this for the first time with my 2016 Crew Cab. Driver side rear door.. got it to shut and then couldn’t open it. Had to unload my kiddo through the window!

I just bought a new 2019 on Dec. 7, 2019 and I have the exact same problem. It is time for a Class Action Law suit against Ford for KNOWINGLY selling unsafe vehicles where the doors pop open even while it is being driven while the door locks are down in the locked position.. Ford knows it and they have had this problem since at least 2010 and they have done nothing to resolve it. Ford apparently does not care at all about their customers and their customers chidren's safety. How many people have to fall out and die before Ford finds a Real Fix that works? WARNING DANGER __ they pop open while driving even when the door lock button is down and locked. Every F-150 owner should join together and have a Class Action law suit against Ford for selling dangerous vehicle when the occupants can fall out the doors because they wanted to save a few cents on Inferior cheap door latches whit plastic parts inside.
Jane Gentile search on TH-cam and see what ford considers the fix to the issue. They spray the inside with lubricant to displace moisture. Aka wd40

OMG my kids will fall asleep in the back and lean on the door. Even with a seatbelt on this would be TRAGIC!
So I just bought this 2016 f150 Saturday now the back door won't open it was working before, the lock won't even go up on the door any advice?

I was able to get the solenoid replaced under Ford extended warranty Customer Satisfaction Program 20M04
I have the same problem with my 2018 F150 Platinum. You all know how expensive this truck was. So far, I’ve had to repair the sunroof, had to replace the cam chain tensioner and phaser, now this frozen door nonsense, and the BIGGEST problem….now a failing transmission (10R80 10-speed trash). A replacement tranny will cost about $7,500 with labor. I had a Tundra prior to this F150 and have regretted buying the Ford since nearly day 1. The worst part is that I knew Ford’s were garbage, but I bought it foolishly thinking they may have improved over the years. I will NEVER buy another Ford and will never let anyone in my house buy one! Done! I won’t even accept a rental being a Ford!

My locks froze today and now the doors won't shut. Probably gonna have a crappy experience at the dealer to see if they can fix it! Shame on Ford! How thus has been the best selling vehicle in the US for umpteen years is beyond me. My first and last experience with a Ford. My next one is gonna be a Toyota!
Don't waste your time on the recall, it makes things worse. I was 3 hours late for work the other day because I couldn't get the door to unlock, had to wait for the sun to come up and thaw it out. Next day I kept it unlocked, so when I opened it wouldn't shut... Then I took and extension cord and blow dryer out and thawed it out and was only 15 minutes late...

I agree with you. Ford F-150 2018 supercrew , rear door won’t latch & sometimes driver door won’t even open from outside. Booked a service appointment & getting it fixed on recall problems.
It’s a safety feature, below 20 I don’t go anywhere, Chevy owners are constantly dying going out in cold weather, funny thing in the late 70’s I had a 67 Mustang did the same thing, but was hoping that engineer that had design the door had retired by 2017 guess he didn’t 😂🤣😂🤣, still love my truck. Plus with this global warming thing it gets a lil better each winter.
I bought a 2016 Ford F-150 lariat this summer low mileage 36999 plus tax over 40 thousand and I now have this problem I’m pissed every morning now that the cold winter is here chevy all my life I thought I’d put my faith in Ford and this happens I’ve sprayed with wd40 , grease different oil and nothing
I am in the process of putting new latches in my 2017 superduty because of this issue...

I have the identical truck. Same exact problem. Infuriating and unacceptable.
Patrick Coyne it is unacceptable, I have found out it happens because the doors are sealed to well and can’t evaporate the moisture. Aluminum creates more moisture than steel, and it literally puddles inside the doors from driving with the heat on and it condensates.
i had a 16 and had the issue so i traded it in for a 18 and no problems..

RAM-1500 KING OF TRUCKS well I have a late 2018 and exactly the same problem. It takes time before the issue happens ( one winter ),l. They haven’t solved the issues on the 19”
There’s a recall on the door latch I just had the same issue the door wouldn’t close and when I hit unlock and go to open the door and lock itself in the middle of opening it and then I wouldn’t close the same issue you’re having I believe it’s a recall on it it’s a door actuator
this is why you should get a chevy
And the door handle on the inside breaks off and wiring harness problems to the lights just saying they all have an issue
