    What a great tutorial. I just started sewing bags and wallets the first of November, but have been watching bag making videos for several years. I have made 21 projects since then in the three months, for Christmas gifts and to donate to various charities. Recently I purchased an industrial machine and what a game changer, but my most relied on and helpful thing is these tutorial videos on TH-cam and this one got me through this pattern with relative ease. My bag turned out great. Feeling proud of myself..Thankyou Jess!!

    Hello Jess. I just recently found your channel, and I really want to say thank you for making these. With everyone losing jobs, I’ve been looking for a way to make a little extra income, and a local shop owner said that she would be more than happy to sell some of the items I make. She saw a baby quilt I made for an infant born addicted and she wants me to bring some things in. I’m working on three things so far I saw on your channel!

    Jess!!!! This is the perfect bag... The one I have been searching for... The one that checks all the boxes (if I add a back pocket for phone and keys.). Thank you for the amazing tutorial. I feel like I need to practice more before attempting this bag, but I am so excited and inspired.

    If you are using waterproof fabric/canvas... heat it up w/ the steam from your iron before you turn it right side out, it will make it easier to turn.

    Love this bag but very challenging for me. I have a domestic sewing machine and not sure it can sew through all the thickness.

    • @OklaRoots
      @OklaRoots  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use standard quilt cotton fabric the thickness shouldn't be a problem, it's just those curves that sneak up on you.

    I have to try this. Did you find it easier to make with the faux leather or the waterproof canvas? Also, if using faux leather or vinyl for the exterior, do you think waterproof canvas would work for the lining? Much love -Gen

    • @OklaRoots
      @OklaRoots  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find it easier to sew the waterproof canvas, since it's thinner. You could definitely do vinyl exterior and waterproof canvas lining if your machine is up to it. The hard part will be turning out those top strap taps, since both textiles are stiffer. Someone else mentioned heating up the waterproof canvas with a hair dryer first to help.

    • @sonialovesewing2396
      @sonialovesewing2396 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know u might not be looking to but a sewing machine but future reference. I have a domestic sewing machine, the singer stylist 7258 this machine is a little beast. I bought it on Amazon for under $200 bucks. But if you want something stronger instead of paying for a Juki get the Brother pq1500sl It's fantastic on vinyl and faux leather. The cost around $550.00 I make bags and I sew everything on it except real leather. The HD9 heavy duty is for real leather and everything else. All these are domestic

    • @OklaRoots
      @OklaRoots  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as you don't use really heavy duty fabric you should be OK. I would try with quilt cotton for the exterior and lining first.
