Not only is TVXQ an SM group, so amazing vocals are a given, but they were originally supposed to be an acapella group, so they are known for having superior harmonies and vocals. (In the early days, when they were a 5-member group, they actually had a lot of acapella performances that really showed off their vocal abilities.) Also, any of those songs that were released before 2010 were originally with all 5 members, so, for example, just wait until you see and hear "Purple Line" and "Love In The Ice" sang live with all 5 members in the song. :D
Although their debut song "Hug" was released at the beginning of 2004, they officially debuted the day after Christmas in 2003, so that is why they just celebrated their 20th anniversary. (Changmin was only 15 in this MV and U-know was 17.)
They're "Rising Gods of the East" for a reason. Even after 20 years they are still continuing to break new ground and demonstrate why they are the leaders in the industry.
If you haven't yet, check out their 2023 MAMA performance where they showcased "Down" even before the MV was released. They also had an epic collaboration stage with SM's newest boy group RIIZE, where they performed TVXQ's iconic song "Rising Sun."
"Rising Sun" is a classic and a lot of artist and groups have covered the song over the years. Plus, it's used in a lot of things, so you'll probably start to notice it being used in things you watch. And it's one of those songs that defines who TVXQ are so, when you talk about them or they perform anywhere they usually play this song. "Rising Sun" came out in 2005 about a month before Super Junior debuted with their song "Twins (Knock Out)", the hard rock, grunge vibe was just the style of music that SM and the Kpop industry was playing around with back then. The whole song, MV and style was very on trend. Therefore, it has a sound and feel to it like a lot of songs that were released around this time.
Those are 100% the real lyrics in "Purple Line." If I remember correctly, Changmin wasn't the original member to sing "I really want to touch myself," put those are just some of the iconic English lines you got in Kpop songs back then. I think the line was originally supposed to be something like "I really want to get in touch with myself," but when SM recorded it, they thought it sounded better the way you heard it, even though everyone questioned leaving it that way when they first read the lyrics. It sounds more scandalous in English than I think the Korean public views it. It's one of those English lines in older Kpop songs that sort of gets lost in translation and is more about the way it sounds in the song than what it really means.
"Chance of Love" in 2018 not only was a big deal because it was celebrating their 15th anniversary, but it also was their first comeback after being discharged from the military, so the Kpop industry was ready and waiting for them to release a new album.
"Love Line," is also part of their Chapter No. 1: The Chance of Love album, and "Truth," is part of their follow up/repackaged album Chapter No. 2: The Truth of Love, which both also have MVs.
As you saw, "Keep Your Head Down" was released at the beginning of 2011. It was their first comeback after splitting from JYJ and it's the performance that solidified them as two of the top artists in the industry. This song showed everyone just how capable they were as artists -- that they could continue as just the two of them and never miss a beat. They are one of the most powerful and well respected duos, and with more than 20 years in the industry, there is no doubt they have legendary status -- and they are still blowing people away with their talent. "Keep Your Head Down " is talking about being able to back up everything they say and do with their talent -- i.e. "keep your head down" and don't show off unless you have the talent and ability to back it up, etc. (Get your mind out of the gutter, LOL.)
If you want to hear the full song of any of these songs all you have to do is look them up, they've been holding concerts for almost 20 years, so they have sang all these songs live multiple times.
Just wait until you see the choreography for these songs, they can do all this while dancing and singing live.

They are truly a vocal powerhouse. I have known them only since you checked out Changmin's solo work but i believe Hug was their debut song. Rising Sun was a huge hit. I love Purple line and Something has a great MV you are going to love. Love in the ice is a masterpiece. All of their songs are wonderful

And this is exactly why I will never stan another group besides TVXQ. They are so ridiculously talented and charismatic, their discography so diverse and well rounded, and their visuals so damn perfect I just don't feel any need to go elsewhere. ❤❤
I hope you both continue to fall as deeply in love with TVXQ as I have - its been 20 years in the fandom for me....let's all hope they perform for another 20 years more.

25:10 during a live performance of this song Yunho yelled Changmin-ah happy birthday!! before what I believe was the dance break, I can't remember exactly, and the clip of that became this gigantic meme 😂 it's basically the law to reference it at this point whenever the song comes up, it will haunt Yunho forever lol.

The purple line lyric lmaooooo. Okay so the guy who wrote it cared more about the flow of English lyrics rather than meaning, but it's supposed to be more like I really want to be in touch with myself.
Thank you for the reaction I love them so much

I really want to watch their killing voice, but I have avoided watching this because it is too painful to watch alone. DBSK is the first group that I stan back when they just debuted during my school days up until my university days. All 5 of them were really2 great singers, and they were unbeatable back then. Although Jaejung was considered the main vocal of the group, they all were at the level where their skill are almost at an equal level that there is no actual main vocal of the group. No other idol group was able to get to their level of popularity and success back then. They were the first Korean idol group to win 1st place in the Oricon chart and the 1st Korean group to perform at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. They were that big and successful that the loss of them was really a pity. If you remember BTOB Changsub's comment about DBSK in Kingdom, he said that DBSK were the ones who pave the path for other K-pop groups to be recognize overseas and he was right. They really did pave the ways for other groups mostly into other Asian countries and especially into the japanese entertainment market. They were really known for their harmonies and acapella (Changmin high, Junsu Mid-high, Jaejung Middle, Yoochun Mid-low, Yunho Low). I really loved all the boys, and my biases were Changmin and Junsu. But their breakup was soo bad that I just never really recovered from it. It just feels like something is missing whenever I watch either duo-DBSK or JYJ at that time that I stopped watching them and avoided them since. Even watching this now makes me wonder how nice it would have been if they kept being a 5-members group, but I guess I just have to accept the reality. I'm glad I can watch this with you girls because it is less painful and I was actually able to enjoy this when I watch it with you girls. So, thank you for this reaction. ☺️

Thank you, you're one of some people who realize when they has no time for recovery for singing other note and then the next note. I mean, Yunho sang in low register then he had to sing in higher note in Rebel.

I think they were trying to say with "really wanna touch myself": I want to be in touch with myself. Or too much words for a line, or the writer was bad in english. 😉 Honi soit qui mal y pense. 😄

12:20 i think it was a mess up in the lyrics lol because back then they wouldnt knowingly put that in the lyrics lol plus sm entertainment is known for nonsense random english, so i think they were trying to say something else and the line happens to be dirty lol

@@me_irah.1111 lol yes it's very iconic, I still think they didn't mean to put that out there of a dirty line in their song way back then, most songs nowadays still don't 😂 but who knows
