TVXQ is still to this day, the most vocally skilled KPOP group ever produced. Every single one of them have ridiculous vocal prowess. There's a very valid reason why they were called The Rising Gods of the East.
Discovered them way back in 2007, and I can honestly say that they are still my all-time favorite group. Bar none. They have the face, the vocals, the dance, and the LIVE performances. No other group can compare.
yay, hi fellow Cassie! 🥰 I became a fan around 2008. My god, their live performances were just incomparable! They are still my all-time fave as well. 😭
Their ballad from OT5 era are no joke. I would recommend you check out Tonight or Love in the Ice, if you want more of intense crazy vocal and harmony.
Unfortunetely why you didn't check Bolero live stage performance, it's more...more...goosebumps. When other group fans said "My idols sing like they eat CD", but we're cassiopeia (TVXQ fandom) said "My idols sing LIVE is better than recording/CD" We're so proud for them who sang in harmony and with soul.
I can feel your comment, my chest swells every time I see one of their live performances, they actually sound much better than on the CD, makes me feel so proud
haha I remember we used to always say they suck at lip synching. The rare times they had to lip sync, you could easily tell because they’re just so used to performing live. 🤣
TVXQ sing many genres. You have to check "Something", "Before U Go", "The Chance of Love", "Love Line", and "Truth" are really really different genres.
Actually no matter which song you react to, each and every one is amazing, TVXQ is a group that never disappoints, thank you so much for react to them ❤
TVXQ aka DBSK was my 1st kpop group. Thanks for checking them out. Btw... The 3 left SM and sued the Company for the "slave contract" conditions. & this happened when TVXQ was at the height of their popularity. After a few years, the 3 of them won the lawsuit. This historical event is said to have paved the way for 'fairer' contracts that the 3rd and 4th gen are having today.
yes, I agreed with you on "paved the way for fairer contracts for 3rd and 4th gen" but also the 3 members have to bear a great consequences to that...i am happy nowadays because they more active now on TV.
It's true, really if it wasn't because they were so brave to face everything and sue the company, the kpop would probably still be an abusive industry, the 3rd and 4th generation idols now know that they can assert their rights thanks to them
Their harmoies are so beautiful cuz they are the only kpop group that debuted as acapella-dance group. They used to sing acapella songs in their early years. Btw, Mirotic came out even before 2009. It is from 2008 but SM deleted the mv and uploaded it again.
WOW! Their vocals are no joke. I can't imagine what a live performance of Bolero or Mirotic would sound like. (This group would never need auto tune). Also, every member in TVXQ is a visual too!! The whole package.
Totally agree. There was an era in early 2010's when so many kpop groups were using autotune. TVXQ seemed like the type who would not sound too good autotuned hahah and for real, I don't think they ever did autotune even when it was trendy haha
you should check out "purple line" and "rising sun" the differences you felt had also existed since OG5, their song was unique, borderline bizarre sometimes I'm glad that you were introduced to them and hope you would look into them more whether the OG5, the recent TVXQ or their solo all worth your time cause they originally suppose to debut as a soloist, and there is a saying that each members talents was versatile, they could be center for any other groups
inn addition, don't miss Changmin's Devil mv 1.2022, Yunho 'Thank You' , TVXQ known for their live concerts debut 2003. they are legends. Bolero was an oct for a Japanese movie. Korean censors, would not allow perf. early pm for word 'skin', TVXQ changed word skin to sky.
You said about the girl kinda looks like a witch in the mirrotic mv is because the korean title of the song is 주문 (jumun) in english is spell for the context of the mv
I just randomly broke out in tears during Bolero. #emoshinki TVXQ split up in 2010. Yunho and Changmin stayed with SM and continued to perform as TVXQ. Catch me is their 2nd album as a duo. (Yunho is the "pretty one" ;D) Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoochun went to a different label and formed the group JYJ. I'm still shocked every time I think about how they've been apart longer than they've performed together as 5. D:
Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.) However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. The day after Christmas was TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki's 18th anniversary, and even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. "Mirotic" is a made up word that really has no meaning, but it is derived from a play on the word mirror + otic -- the title was originally supposed to be something like mirror but they thought the word sounded better if you added otic to the end of it, (it made it sound cooler, or something.) Think of it as the words mirror and exotic combined -- that's just how you pronounce the title, not the meaning of the word. "Mirotic," which came out in 2008 when they were still a 5 member group, is a classic in the Kpop industry and every new rookie group -- both boy groups and girl groups -- learn this song and choreography and almost every rookie has performed it on music programs, award shows, at showcases, etc. at least once in their career. This song, like SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong," Girls Generation's "Gee" and Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry," etc. is pretty much compulsory for everyone in the entertainment industry to know and learn the song and dance to. In the MV for "Mirotic" the woman is supposed to be a siren, like from Greek mythology, and she is supposed to be tempting and trapping or luring the TVXQ members to her. Like they say in the song "... I got you under my skin ..." But in the end you see how the members have broke free from her control. (Often in Greek mythology the siren, through her intoxicating love powers, lures guys to their deaths.) Also, the "red ocean" they refer to in the lyrics of "Mirotic" has a double meaning -- TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is red, so when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. "Bolero" is one of Tohoshinki's (TVXQ's) Japanese singles, which came out in 2009. If you like the studio version of "Bolero", just wait until you hear them perform it live in concert, th-cam.com/video/TBGqE84ZBOE/w-d-xo.html. "Catch Me" was released in 2012, after they became a duo. The choreographer for "Catch Me" is Tony Testa, who is known for this work with Michael Jackson. Tony Testa has worked with a lot of SM's artists over the years. Changmin and U-Know have said that Tony told them he got the idea for this choreography because the inflight movie that was shown on the plane from the U.S. to Korea was one of the Avengers movies and he was inspired by the Hulk. So that is why they were supposed to be animatronic robots with giant arms. In the "Catch Me" MV when their arms light up that is done in post production, but you should check out some of their live performances of the song, because in some of their live performances -- such as in SM's end of the year SMCU Express SMTown concert on New Year's eve this year -- they have LED arm bands, so they really do light up. With all the water in "Catch Me" MV, the choreography was super difficult. If you were to watch the behind the scenes of them filming the MV, you would see how everyone kept slipping and falling down and they kept having to redo those scenes. You should also check out the dance practice for "Catch Me," th-cam.com/video/JzSgMwrSfOk/w-d-xo.html. TVXQ is known as some of the best dancers in the industry who are highly respected by everyone. Yes, TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. As an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that TVXQ are such amazing vocalists. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their visuals, vocals and/or dance skills, and even the rappers get intense training as vocalists. That is why SM is one of the largest and most influential entertainment companies in Korea and around the world, which is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted, so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 34 and U-know is 36. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him. Changmin is known for his powerful high notes (even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO -- all SM powerhouse vocalists), he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins. (Fun fact: He got married in 2020.) U-Know -- the pretty one -- is considered one of the top dancers in the industry and he is known for his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His passion is kind of a running joke within the industry. Its one of the things he is most known for.) The funny thing is personality-wise, Changmin and U-Know are complete opposites in almost every way. Changmin is quiet, calm and level headed and prefers to spend his personal time alone; and U-Know is loud, high energy, intense and prefers to be with a group of people. Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA, etc., they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene, and most Japanese citizens doesn't even consider them foreign artists. They spend about 50% or more of their career promoting and touring in Japan, so U-Know and Changmin are also fluent in Japanese. They have just as many Japanese songs and albums as they do Korean. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are SM Entertainment's top selling group, easily selling out concert tours around the world. Just so you know, SM Entertainment didn't start including English subs on any of their content until around 2018 or later. So none of their older videos will ever have any subs on them -- unless they have been remastered as part of SM's remaster project which they started at the beginning of this year -- so you don't even really need to bother looking for subs on these older videos. Subs weren't even a thing back in the day when these MVs were released.
TVXQ was my 1st idol kpop crush ever and they always in my heart. I have been praying for 5 of them to comeback together. TVXQ had a lot of hit songs and for me honestly, I loves all their Japanese songs. They seems like a Jpop instead of kpop for me. If you want to react, their live performances are the best choices. I seldom watch their MVs in repeat because for me i think the MVs not give them any justice in terms of their vocals. You can react to their Tokyo Dome concert as a start
hope you check more ot5 tvxq/dbsk in the future, they have so many gems (indeead a vocall legends) found them after they already separated but enjoyed all of their oldest songs and i still consider myself as an OG fan, i will recommend u "purple rain" and "wrong number" even if u don't react to them
thanks for reacting! definitely check out spellbound - my favourite tvxq track! along with before u go, love line. changmin’s devil is a great song, and yunho’s thank u is a gripping MV!
Should check out purple line and love in the ice. Also recommend stuff from the members that left, JYJ Backseat. Lots of solo stuff too Junsu- Tarantallegra and Flower Jaejoong- Mine, Sign and Breaking Dawn Max Changmin - Chocolate and Devil U-Know Yunho - Thank U
You said you would like to hear a first generation Group, I would like to recommend Shinhwa. Some of my favourite songs are brand-new, sniper, this love, Venus, time machine.
Gracias

haha I remember we used to always say they suck at lip synching. The rare times they had to lip sync, you could easily tell because they’re just so used to performing live. 🤣
I was about to comment this! Their BOLERO live performance in Tokyo is still hitting me hard and always making me teared up!!!
I seconded that, we love their LIVE than CD. HAHA Weird but its true !
Borelo live at Tokyo Dome is everything.!!
I love it so much
TVXQ sing many genres. You have to check "Something", "Before U Go", "The Chance of Love", "Love Line", and "Truth" are really really different genres.
I’m a Cassie and a TVXQ fan since OT5 days. They are my first love and the split was my first biggest heart break. 🥺

SM seems to have a bad luck with number 3. First JYJ, then KLT and now CBX.
The best thing that ever happen to SM.. but ofc they blew it🥺 they still have the best live performances

I'm a Cassiopeia since 2006 and still counting
So proud of TVXQ🎈🎈🎈🎈
Bolero and love in the ice Tokyo dome live performance, totally recommended
For all of you who didn't know that, they already did another reactions on youtube, which were TVXQ Balloons and JYJ Back Seat.🙂
