How to transfer Ark saves between Multiplayer Servers and Single player

- It's fairly easy to transfer between single player and multiplayer, hopefully this will take all of the googling out of the equation for you and save any frustrations (I'm looking at you, config files).

IMPORTANT NOTE ON REMOVING HOST TAG: If you go from a locally hosted game to multiplayer, you will have your name shown from a long distance away with the tag, "HOST" and the distance you are from players. To remove this, you need to do the following:
1) Back up your two profile files.
2) Kill yourself and create a new survivor (this will delete your current character, so put all of your stuff somewhere)
3) Stop the server and replace your profile files with the two you backed up.
4) Restart the server and log on
5) Force yourself into the tribe and force yourself to be the tribe founder (if you were the founder to start with) - this can be done with the "showmyadminmanager" command, and then the "ForcePlayerToJoinTargetTribe" command while looking at your tribe's structure, followed by, "MakeTribeAdmin" or "MakeTribeFounder" commands.

Damn, so glad I googled this. So glad it works. Thank you, this helped me do exactly what I wanted. I'll come back and cry later if anything goes wrong a few months down the line as Ark is buggy enough, we know so messing with servers and single player games...could get nasty haha.
EDIT: Ok anyone wanting to still be in their tribe and continue using their base...don't forget there must be a tribe file somewhere on the server. Didn't see that mentioned unless I missed it? Running around my base now in single player unable to access or do anything hahaha. Back to my server files to see if there is anything else.
Double EDIT: Ok I found my tribe file to copy over...but it did not work.
I am in the game, still not in my tribe so can't access my stuff, making this not worth while. Any ideas how to fix this? Too late now will try again tomorrow. Might it be that I need to add my tribe mate too? even though she won't be playing on my single player. Not sure how I can get the tribe to recognise me
There is a command you can use when looking at your base called "TakeAllStructure" and theres one for dinos by the name of "TakeAllDino"

im trying to find out how to transfer a dino from multiplayer to singleplayer. someone told me you could do it by using the dino stats from the export dino option but i havent been able to figure it out

Everything transfers over from singleplayer except for my character, i have to create a new one(i put the ID as the LocalPlayer). How do i fix this?
So one can technically spawn dinos in single player and then like put the creature data on another avatar wich is on like a official pvp server?

Hi there, how would a savegame port work if Player A + B Would like to play individually on a server.
The scenario right now is.
Player A (Hosts a non-dedicated server)
Player B (only can play if player A hosts a non-dedicated server session)
So our idea is renting a server that allows to upload the savegames folder via FTP:
Can I follow your copy instructions or how is my information as Player B saved on the Host directory (Player A) ?
would this mean all the world progress and Profile Player a+b would get ported correctly onto the server??!
I got my server swapped over, except my character didnt follow, wants me to create a new one but i wont be in my tribe.

You basically just put all the files in the same place on the server as you find them. That should be it, as long as you put the same mods on the server you should essentially have duplicatd it :)
I have tried to pur my Valguero Server files into Single Player But the Game crashed when its loading i have renamed my char to Local Player the .ark and .arkbak and dont touched the logs and schripts But it didnt work 😢

I am trying to move from an old server to a new one .. I copied the whole 'Saved' folder over. But when entering the server it's always the default world. No character data or map data has been ported :( What could be the reason?
Did this going from Nitrado server to Singleplayer, now all my s+ structures have vanished :L

Sorry for the slow reply - If you're asking about how to get them up then you need to go to your server and get your FTP login and password, you put that in. Once you do that you should see the same file structure I showed in here (if you're on a similar server setup to me).

Hi everyone, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post this, but there is a fix for the crash when you try to load old server saves.
What you need to do is go to your launch options, in steam you right click on the game and select properties and then in the launch options at the bottom type the following:
-preventhibernation
Once you've done that, copy this command ready to go:
destroywilddinos
Load up your save and immediately open the console. Paste in the destroywilddinos command and exit as soon as they've all disappeared. Close down ark as soon as you do the command, remove the launch option and voila! You should have access to your old saves.

Followed this guide to save the data of my multiplayer server, copied the exact files, so i could start a Scorched earth play-through with our characters. Went to go back top the island, stuck all the correct files back in their locations. as shown in this video, map is blank all buildings and dinos are gone. for some reason when i start the server it deletes the island save file every time. no idea why. but i suspect you need more than just the first save file
Hey there, are you starting a new server from scratch on your own every time, or are you doing it through a third party?
There's a few things that are coming to mind:
1) You might not have them in the right folder on your PC if you're running it from your own.
2) If it's a third party server you might have some sort of auto-wipe when you change maps.
3) You might be renaming the wrong thing to localplayer if you're going from multiplayer to single player
4) You haven't got all the tribe and player files. Without the tribe files there's not record of what is built on the map.
I've done this dozens of times and it's never caused a problem unless I've renamed the wrong file, put it in the wrong place or it's set to start a fresh save in the server settings.

@@WhamyKaBlamy it's a third party server. Whenever I start up the server with the multiplayer files from previous it just deletes them and starts it fresh. No idea how to get around it atm!
@@dog_chasing_cars7576 Hmm, once the server is started and you've stopped it, replaced the files and started it.. that shouldn't happen.
It might be worth contacting the support if you can't find an option that relates to it. If you've got the ark save files and your player/tribe data, you should be good.

Im trying to go from server back to single player from a server save, this is the opposite but tx for the video.
okay so this was really helpful and worked BUT eventhough I am now in my world with my character I am not in the tribe i was in on my singleplayer ark thus I can't use any of the dinos or structures I had. How can I fix that?

Yeah, unfortunately that happens because the game thinks you're a different player (localplayer) rather than the ID.
There should be a command in the adminpanel called "ForcePlayerToJoinTargetTribe".
If you're on single player, you can bring up the admin console with pressing the ` key (unless that's changed) and typing "ShowMyAdminManager".
If you point your cursor at something the tribe owns (building or dino), select yourself on the player list and then use the "ForcePlayerToJoinTargetTribe" it should put you in there. Then you can use the command "MakeTribeFounder" to give you full access.

when i load in to the transfered map save in single player i get a fatal eror when its loading "proxy"
Hiya, sorry for the slow reply. You may need to disable hibernation on the first load if it's a new load of an older file.
On steam you right click the game and select properties. Then Launch Options. Then you write -preventhibernation.
Once you're in the game, open up the in game menu and go to the admin options, or use the command "showmyadminmanager". Scroll down to "destroy wild dinos" and choose execute. Once they've disappeared quickly quit out of the game.
Load up without the launch options and it should work. That's the issue I was having recently :)

Ok so i don't know what i'm doing wrong but i did put my character save with success on my single player game but i CAN'T have the map... Like everytime I try it crash with a fatal error.. Like if i have a corrupted save files, i don't know what to do plz help :(

There is no saved folder
i do it the exact same way and always get crashes i tried to delete all, log in local again, transfer from multiplayer STILL CRASHES! i am so frustrated i did this like 5 times, what is wrong? (got 0 Mods!!!)
I just tried this today and it didn't work for me either.Chances are this method no longer works. It's also possible that if you have BattleEye Anticheat enabled, that might be preventing it from working too.
I have the files in all the right places, donated the settings to a satisfactory degree, and am using all the same mods as the server; but it crashes the game during loading. It hangs while loading the ruins on the Island. I was really hoping to continue our multiplayer map as a single player game since no one else is playing anymore and it's like to save on the monthly expenses. Should I delete the other player's characters before loading as single player?
Heya, I'm not quite sure what's going on there. As long as you have the map file, your player profile number and renamed it "LocalPlayer" on both of the files, and your tribe files, you should be okay. You don't need to delete the other players profiles or the other tribes stuff; I just got finished recording a video and what I do is take our servers files, throw them into my Extinction local saves, rename my steam number to LocalPlayer and load it up. I don't even bother removing the other player profiles or figuring out which tribe is mine, it seems to have effect.
I'll do a bit of googling and see if I can find out the problem.

Same problem here, it gets TheIsland_Ruins loaded to 100%, hangs for a moment and then returns a Fatal Error! as long as a grocery list.

SUCCES 1: My world and my player included my Inventory and Dinosaurs are on my unofficial server now.
PROBLEM 1: My Character doesn't belong to the Tribe I founded on the local server (I am going to reinstall everything again, probably something went wrong.

This might all work well and is a great video for all who know what they are doing in server administration, but for a dummy, who never set a sever up before it is highly confusing when both directions are basically covered in the same sentence. Instead of covering completely from Single to Multi first and then entirely from Multi to Single, or vice versa, it is confusing when both get covered at once. Plus The video assumes we know the steam ID and where to get it etc. but the thought, that usually server admins who do this all day long, or quite frequently, don't really need tutorial Videos and so to say first time users who have no clue how and what to do, are easily overwhelmed with all the pre assumptions of all we should have knowledge about prior to even trying to understand what this video will be all about.

I need help with the Game.ini and UserSetting.ini, I've never set up the server myself before, but I have edited it on the web interface. I'm not sure what to serach for to find what Difficulty the game is set to (I already tried Crtl+F searching for Difficulty then Level and nothing screamed Difficulty Level to me), so when I play it locally it's the same as it was on Nitrado, as everyone has dropped off and the Server is about to run out in 3 days XD
Hiya, I don't have Ark installed at the moment, so I can't remember exactly where files are located, but what you're looking for is GameUserSettings.ini.
I apologise in advance because this gets complicated.
Ark uses 2 settings to determine the difficulty. These settings are located underneath the [Server Settings]:
DifficultyOffset=x
OverrideOfficialDifficulty=x.
The thing is, they work in different ways. For a standard difficulty it uses DifficultyOffset, which is a scale from 0.0 to 1.0 to determine dino level. It's basically a percentage of the maximum level of dinos on that map, but it's stupidly complicated in how it's implemented.
1.0 on The Island would give a max level of 120. Whereas on Ragnarok it would be 150. But DifficultyOffset=0.4285 would be a max level of 60 on The Island. Which is stupid.
But the good news is that you can use "OverrideOfficialDifficulty", and this just works in multiples of 30.
So, if you want dinos of level 150 on The Island, you just throw in "OverrideOfficialDifficulty=5.0". If the setting isn't there, then just put that line under the last line of [Server Settings] and change the 5.0 to what you want.
I'm afraid I can't remember if you can just completely circumvent the DifficultyOffset with OverrideOfficialDifficulty, it's been a while since we played on anything less than max level for a given map. But if you're playing with max dino levels, just set:
DifficultyOffset = 1.0
Or if you're playing with higher than max levels
OverrideOfficialDifficulty=(whatever multiple of 30 you're using)
