long gun for joker is a cheap addition and criminal that they didnt include it with this set as it is the most iconic scene of the batwing in the film ,also to have essentially the same minifigures as the batmobile is also a poor choice,otherwise a great set and pretty good on value side too
Simple, but value here is more convincing than the Batmobile, even if most of its large footprint has very little height to it. Still, like the smaller Tumbler we got in 2021, it's a nice more budget friendly version of the giant UCS styled model we got a couple years ago. And far less space eating too! Glad the wall hanging feature the UCS version had is also here; probably will be less worrying about the nail detaching as it weighs significantly less.
Agreed. I went for the big 89 Batmobile and the big Tumbler as well as the small ones because I love both vehicles but I don't love the Batwing enough to get a big version of it. This size is perfect though for people who like these things but not enough to spend hundreds. I hope Lego does more sets like these that are affordable but work for both kids and adults

This looks really nice, only real nit pick is I wish the profile of the "ears" at the front was more of a U shape than a V shape. Great review as always!

It’s about what you’d expect for a Batwing. Neat!
The only thing I miss from this Batman minifigure is the Tim Burton style pointy edges to the bottom of the cowl. The printing for the bottom of the cowl here is completely smooth, that’s the only thing I think could make this better (with the current cowl piece).
I literally just finished building this set a moment before this review came out. I also found the trunk can fit three batarangs, two handcuffs and even extra stud ammo.
There is a part of me that also wished they’d have included the stiff neck cowl for Batman, and maybe the long arm hand cannon for Joker, but this is a great and affordable way to get a really decent 89’ era Batwing! Great review, Jang!

Very nice! I may get this Batwing (and the Batmobile) for my collection, many memories when it comes to the original Batman movie!
While the stiffer rubber cape & cowl is more accurate, a fabric cape is better for play as that rubber cape/cowl would never fit in the driving compartment in this Batwing & the Batmobile.
Even for someone who isn't the biggest Bat nerd out there & who hasn't seen every version of the bat (like me), I still think these are just a good pair of bat vehicles.
Great review! Looking forward to seeing people mod the nose/front "ear" tips as I'm not a big fan of the aesthetic.
Saw this next to the Batmobile on display in my local Lego store and in terms of volume of stuff you’d think their prices were supposed to be switched.
They probably included the hanger piece so you can recreate a scene from the movie. At one point he flies it straight up and hangs in the air for a moment with the moon in the background.

This is a pretty cool looking set, when viewed from above. I do love the nice bat silhouette it has for when it's hung up I still cannot understand the price for the Batmobile though. Especially when in direct comparison to this set, and at this price.

Re: the model, not sure I'm a fan of the greebling/overall texture for this set in general, so I'll wait and see if people do some cool mods.
It wouldve been so cool if they had done a recolor of the new dualmolded Indiana Jones fedora with hair for Joker. Get the purple hat and green hair underneath? Would make that figure perfect

A bit off topic but as far as the gate marks on Lego goes, I had to actually get my side cutters and cut nubs off of a transparent window piece that came in my Ninjago City Markets.
A $300+ set and I had to cut a transparent piece. Which I suppose could be worse, but nor is it ideal.

This is a better deal than the Batmobile which is probably why it was flying of the shelves when it first came out (no pun intended). I was going to mount it on my custom Batcave but it’s way bigger than you’d think. And am I the only one who wishes it came with the Joker cake, Bob, and a really long pistol? I would have paid more for the whole scene.

One of my favorite sets that I sold off was the batwing chase with the joker helicopter when he was on the rope ladder. This one is cool but it doesn’t have a joker heli

looks like it would be a pretty good starship in my world. Unfortunately there's no space to add a Carbonicle Crystal Reactor, so no deflector shields and no interstellar travel....
I just built this and added it to my bat vehicles display. It was a fun build and looks really good for a small set.
Lego is constantly getting the movie batman figures wrong, there are no white eye covers , every Batman movie version you can see his eyes. There is no need for the whitout eyes.
Its funny you mentioned that this is a sturdy build because my wife was building this with our son and said the exact same thing! Pretty good model for the price.
About time for that dual molded cowl. Bruce having the white bandana really takes away from any mask off scenes.
It's an excelent set and was an instant purchace for me. Finding the wall hanger in the build was so charming. Being a little scaled up so things like the "ears" at the front can read correctly makes sense. It does show the Keaton Batmobile up as being over priced though when it's two figs and a significant multifunction licenced vieachel for ten euro less. I'm still waiting for that to see a discount.
This is a great set. I liked the big 89 Batmobile and I got it but I didn't have that same amount of love for the Batwing to justify a big set like that one. A Minifigure size Batwing that's a lot cheaper is definitely more my kind of thing. I'm on the fence about the new 89 Batmobile because I have the promo one from a few years ago but I'm definitely getting this one

Ngl I wish the batcave had a place for this or least a stand came with the batwing like the original 2007 set :/
My main gripe with these recent batman set is that it's been all Batman vs Joke, there's this batwing, the batmobile, and the 4+ Batmobile. It's like, there are other villains than just Joker, what about Batman vs Riddler or something? Heck doesn't even want to be Batman, can be Robin as well, it's a good incentive to get both sets because then you'd have Batman, Robin, Joker, and another Villain. I mean I get it, Batman and Joker is what sells, but seeing something different with the Batman sets would be nice.
That is a pretty spot-on rendition of the Batwing! Another awesome thing from Batman 1989.
38 is not bad. 30 would be better. It's a lot more reasonable than the Batmobile.
The wallprop batwing. Not much playable features. But has attachment points to hang on your wall and is big. 😅

I wish I had this set because the batwing I do have is just too big for display and I don't trust hanging it on the wall. Also I like that this model is minifig size.

Taking a good look at the source material, I feel it's great at being "a" batwing....but necessarily "the" batwing.
I would've liked to see the cockpit just a stud or 2 behind, but otherwise I like this set. Just sad LEGO haven't given any DC characters any attention lately
The bottom is inexcusable: Batman only builds in black and sometimes in very, VERY dark shades of grey.
